for people that don’t know: mitsubishi was almost going bankrupt and suvs and boring cars being the biggest market now saved them from going bankrupt, they now made enough money to reopen their ralliart brand and they stated that if they get as big as they used to they’ll release a sports car again
Mitsubishi: we're doing fantastic selling very capable cars! Also Mitsubishi in 2000s: let's start making just the worst possible grocery getters from now on!
The bad thing about being a kid who likes cars is that when you grow up and have enough money to buy your dream one, it is no longer being made... Mine is the Lancer evo and I still don't have one...
I feel this, i had a carrera track when i was smaller, my dad and i used to race on it, i always used the subaru impreza (looked like the rallying one, livery and all) and now i have the choice of rusted through and good condition but orbitally expensive
And the worst thing is that they'll only go up in value. Even the evo 4 which a few years back could be had for $3-4k, now they're tripled in value. Not to mention the other ones, they go for way too much money to be worth it.
Well an evo is a very achievable goal, it'll just take more time and effort than you originally planned. You'll probably get one at some point and love it, especially if you really like it, it'll be more motivation.
I never understand these types of comments, if you love a car so much, why would you want some knock off replacement that wouldn't be the same? Nearly all the time, a sequel movie will never be as good as the first, why would it be any different to cars? If you love the OG, then get the OG.

As a long time mitsubishi enthusiast its sad to see the company virtually dead because even with their awesome engineers the corporate types made every bad decision choice they came across since the 90s
I have fond memories of the Lancer Evo. I grew up following WRC, and my favourite car used to be the STI (and later the Focus, because McRae). My dad (who wasn't a "car guy") always said that Lancer Evo was his favourite, and it showed. He always rooted for Evo to win, doesn't matter who was driving it or which team ran it, he always supported the car. We would talk at night for hours where he would explain his theory on why "Evo is the best car and it will win the season" and I would rebuke it with my own why it wouldn't. Everytime we played a racing game, if it had an Evo on it, he would ALWAYS pick it. We completed PS2 era NFS (and Midnight Club) using the Evo (as I sucked playing the higher difficulty races, and everyrime I pass along the controller to my dad he would switch the car to the Evo instead of whatever car I drove, and painted it red if the game had color change feature). It wasn't until I was in college when he revealed the truth : he only pretended to like the Evo so he could "bond" with me. He saw me picking the WRX as my favourite rally car, so he picked a random competitor car to "follow" me, and he chose the Evo. He even commented that Evo is "actually too bulky and fat to be competitive and he would pick something else if given the chance". That being said, there came a point somewhere when he had been pretending for so long, he started liking the Evo for real. Nowadays, even though he's not a car guy, for him the Evo... is alright. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll cry in the corner to remember the good times long gone
I believe the lancer evolutions are the best cars of all time. Just because they dont sell them anymore doesn’t mean that Mitsubishi is falling apart. In australia they one of the best selling brands in 2021 and in America they are on the rise.
I always love to see the 3000gt getting some love! Absolutely legendary cars. Mine never fails to put a big stupid smile on my face, I'll never let it go.
The car industry for sure is entering a dark age. Almost gone are the driver cars that were centered around the pure driving experience, replaced with soulless EVs and SUVs that appeal to the masses, but leave the car enthusiast weeping in the corner...
I don't think the movement will be progressing for much longer anyways. Most people demand for a conventional engine that is reliable. so in their case they would have to keep selling engines to keep from them having to file a bankruptcy. Plus too EVs are already sketchy enough. there are already plenty of recalls on evs for battery and safety issues. the blame strictly goes to the company making them thus damaging their reputation and killing future business with more clients. So, in conclusion, EVs probably won't survive in the long run. They are clearly not the future and I feel people need to put more thought into how the future should be. The future can be whatever we want it to be its only a matter thought and time before action should be taken

He then tried to recover the proper line by quickly cutting back inside and then slid. Unfortunately for both that rally driver and me, we both made the same mistake. Refusing to hit the brake and instead try to "skillfully" recover it.
