Obvioulsy the song was supposed to be Iam with James as backup, just shows how professional James is that he read that Iam could not make it through and he picked it up. So touching from both of them sharing a horrible reality of life.

Iam stole the show almost every night he sang and I think we all loved him because of how simple and relatable his story and goal was when entering the competition and he wasn't doing it for himself but as a final act of love to his father

Blunt is better live than in studio
Never heard of Blunt before the Idol audition, but seeing him here, you have to believe he is a decent human being. He was being kind, generous, supportive. And he must be able to empathize even though his father lived.
Blunt is definitely more of an acquired taste, his voice doesn’t lend itself well to duets or singing with others. Doesn’t help it’s an incredibly emotional song for both either.
James learned that when you feel the cry, push it out into the music and absolute art happens. Expression at a level so deep only music can relay.

I just lost my dad a few weeks ago and keep turning back to this song every time I’m depressed. He wasn’t my biological father (didnt know till I was 18) so it hits that much harder. It’s hard to move on without your dad.

I've struggled with addiction for the last 12 years and just a few months ago I found out that I might loose my dad to heart problems and it took me this to realize we can't take for for granted the people who love us and don't give up on us and tha t a dads loves unconditional,!please don't ever forget 💔

My father died of cancer. I remember the last time I held his hand before leaving for work. He could no longer see anything and was just barely breathing. I thought he was just sleeping. And they told me it was the agony of death. And then they called me and said that he was no longer breathing. He opened up the whole world to me. Even if I was wrong and unbearable, he was always ready to hug me, calm my storm. We have been fighting cancer for 3 years. And I took care of him like a baby. But I couldn't save it.
