You are going to love the jacket - just extends the riding season which is great. Once you have the jacket - beg for another present in the form of the gloves. They are so good 👍
@bankruptpensioner 😆 I got different heated gloves for Xmas and love them already. I opted for battery operated as jump on different bikes etc. Will be nice to up the winter distance without freezing. What do you do in the wet? Do you risk the jacket getting wet? I really do ride all weather.
I have the Gerbing heated jacket and gloves and have to agree with you an absolute game changer for colder weather riding. May I make a suggestion, reroute your power lead from the battery to pop out at the front of the seat instead of the rear of the seat as you have it currently.
Hi Mark, you are right. Reroute and see what thats like. In the past, I have scrubbed paint from the tank with the cables however, I should take it to the from of the seat rather than right up to the tank and out. 👍
I have the Keis heater gloves and I put the cables under the Velcro strap, it makes it easier to get your jacket cuffs over as the cables don’t get in the way.
Great review mate! I use the RST heated gloves (with batteries). As you said, the downside to batteries is the battery life. For shorter rides they are fine with at least 2.5 hours on full heat! As such I carry a spare set of batteries which sets me for a decent ride out! I also bought the Kies undergloves that link to my Kies heated vest but find them a bit bulky under my normal gloves ( i might get an oversized pair and try that out). As for the heated vest... Wow, best thing I ever bought. I either use the battery pack for short rides out plug straight into the bike.
Good question Tony. Strangely, the red warning light stays on if the ignition is turn on for a period of time but the engine is not started. Strange but true. Not sure why the bike is configured this way and not sure if this is just my bike.
@@tonywilliamson4512 no, it really is user problem. I should put the key in and start the bike when I am ready to go. The problem is me, not the bike 👍
Wonderful. I would recommend them especially if one has the jacket. I haven't yet tried them in the rain but I will be doing soon and I suspect they will be great. A bit expensive, especially if you've got to buy the jacket as well, but I think overall it keeps you going through the winter what do you think?👍

Hi Richard, sounds like money well spent, nothing worse than cold hands. Just a quick update ive ordered a Royal Enfield Guerrilla, in yellow ribbon colour, looking forward to delivery, but it will be a few weeks, as there isn't any in stock.
@@bankruptpensionerHi Richard, looks like it will be into next year before delivery but I've been watching Ian Hughes, and Mercia Moto on you tube, they have both bought Guerrillas, so I'm following them on there travels for now, Ian has been round the lakes in Cumbria, some stunning scenery. As soon as I have a delivery date I'll let you know.
Hi Richard. Thank you for posting this video. Off to buy my gloves and jacket from the Sports Bike shop. I have a Triumph Speed 400 as a second bike and love it. How do you find the clutch and break levers. I have considered changing mine to levers suppled by TEC. They are adjustable and allow you to get your fingers closer to the levers. I find mine a bit far away from my fingers. I have seen another posting on UA-cam of a guy fitting them to a 400X. Look good. I know you love doing a MOD so maybe something to consider for one of your next videos. Thanks Mike
Hi Jed, thought I had better reply quick on this comment 😆. If your fingers feel short on the bike (400 Speed), then with heated gloves, they will feel even shorter due to the padding in the palm of the glove. This, will probably push you over into ordering the new levers. Just think about this before you buy 👍
@@bankruptpensioneryes I agree having tried my winter gloves. I would be interested if any of your subscribers have changed levers on the Triumph 400 Speed and how they got on changing them over.
Not at all Mick. Legs are ok with thermal legings from M&S and thick socks again from M&S. If I am rich enough in the near future, I might buy the heated trousers from Keis to see how these work. That said, I am already pulling near 7 amps from the batter and the leggings may take it over the limit. Certainly on the 400 - maybe not so on the T120. I shall think about that 😆
@@bankruptpensioner I have the same heated gear as you except I have the bigger leather gloves, I find that when I initially turn the jacket on and get that rush of heat on my torso it makes the rest of my body go in to chill mode, it soon wears off.
I had heated underwear and made myself heated shoe inlays when I rode my Jawa sidecar to North Cape in January 1996. Does the Triumph deliver enough energy to power all this? Had a 88ah car battery in the sidecar which I loaded every night.
Good question Sky. So, in the past, batteries were bad and charging was not much better. Modern bikes should not have this problem. On full power, both the jacket and gloves will pull about 7amps. Charging at 4000rpm should be in the region of about 25 amps or more. So, this should, and has not to date, been a problem. However, I notice when the bike is on idle, power to the jacket and gloves reduces. Therefore, the tech in the jacket and gloves seems to understand when the charging at th battery is low and reduces the current to the gloves and jacket. So, does not put too much strain on the battery. Good thing really. I do longer rides. Short rides to the office etc or the shop could present a problem I guess 😬👍
@@bankruptpensioner That‘s the point! How many Amps / Watts will the bike produce - how many will it use for ignition and lights and how many do my externals need? I had 180W at the Jawa and used a bit over 200W all together… that’s why I bought a big battery and charged it over night…
@garywoods765 I ended up buying the Scorpion Exo 520. £170. The audio, having tested the helmet, is far superior which is great for me. It is not a quiet helmet but it is much quieter than the flip style which has so many joins etc. The Scorpion is very comfortable and the visor has a very secure click and seal when closed. Now, the K3. A brilliant helmet however I had a strange problem with this helmet. I found, when having the visor closed, flies would get sucked into the front of the helmet from the neck. I bought the K3 in Qatar and did not have this problem (because flies do not really exist in such a temperate zone). When I returned to the UK, I used my K3 and constantly had to open my visor to let the flies out. Bizarre experience and not sure it was just me being in the countryside and the horse flies are the size of a small swallow 😆. It got to the point where enough was enough and I bought the LS2 Valiant 2 flip front. The LS2 resolved the fly problem. I love the K3, it's just the flies loved mine too 😆. I felt like Pigpen off Charlie Brown 😆
Yes Paul. Reaosn being I switched off the ignition whilst rolling. It does turn off. I should have stopped and turned off the ignition to remove the red warning light. Lessons learned - didn't realise it would do that 👍
