More than 5,000 soldiers have taken part in the Canadian Army’s largest exercise of the year. For two weeks, soldiers from Canada, the UK, US and France have been part of Exercise Maple Resolve at the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre in Alberta. Nearly 100 of those are from the British Army, with the exercise pitting two forces against each other, culminating in one final battle.

The good thing a bout the Canadians is they have enough room to hold war games on piece's of land bigger then some Countries ! and yes they are well known to be good soldiers , and yes they need a budget increase is right, BUT ! being American who has trained with the Canadians many year's ago, it is funny that they always get the job done no matter what equipment they have... I would fight with them any time, it is nice to see Allies train together.
Thank you. That means alot to me. Thanks
I will be joining the Canadian military so that means allot to me thank you 👍 and I think America kick's a**

@@xxxmikeyjock Yea, and the usa is such a good ally of ours, we can rely on their ludicrous military budget to protect us. The changes from 1981, on. Have made US. A very different military.
I would not count on that being repeated. Especially with so many Combat Veterans.
@@knutdergroe9757Actually Canada's role in NATO hasn't changed that much, Canada is still supply troops to train the new NATO members in Eastern Europe, Canada is planning bases in Latvia and Romania the same as we had in West Germany during Cold War 1, this would probably mean that Canada would go back to the role we had then taking on the Russian Paratroopers. We had that role because the Americans consisted 4 CMBG as Light Infantry and we could move much faster than both Germans and the Americans, I served in the Cold war from 1978 to 1981.

Respect from 1st Marine Division (USA)
That’s cool
That is a very nice thing to say. My understanding is that Canadians consider Marine units their peer units in respect of skill/task level but it would need someone who is serving to confirm this. Every marine is a soldier first, and that is the way Canadian units are generally run as well. I assume it is the same for the British but don't know for certain.
@@worldwisenow4287 I don't know about Canadians, but US Marines don't consider themselves soldiers. In the case of the Royal Marines (UK) they are far more integrated with the Royal Navy. This is less so in the US military, although in my case, I'm in the US Navy, but I'm attached to Marines because I'm a Corpsman (Medic).
@@EzraB123 i find that funny they don't consider themselves soldiers yet it is their job description to soldier help me understand this because that seem a bit odd.
@@samuel10125 In American English a soldier is in the Army, which is a branch of the US military. So Marines just consider themselves Marines and their branch is the USMC. The training is a little more demanding and Marines have a separate history, rank structure, different customs and uniforms, etc unique to their branch and independent from the US Army. As a member of the PPCLI, who has worked with the Reserves, humble yourself please.
Just for those who arent aware: the DTES/MILES kit theyre using is all gps linked. Obviously for direct fire, the sensors on the helmet/vest pick up the lasers, but for IDF its literally a GPS kill area. Itll randomise what injuries you have and the like. Bit annoying but the only way to get actual cover from the GPS kill areas on IDF is to have special GPS units placed in your trenches to 'upgrade' them into bunkers which can take a few hits...when they work.
Nothing more annoying than getting 'killed' by a mortar that landed 80 metres away on the other side of a massive bun line just as youre about to brass up an unsuspecting platoon with a gpmg. Really good kit otherwise though.
I remember my live fire experience with the British tanks.... after two days of shooting thare kit (strapped to the outside of the tank) we where asked to stop... haha fun times...

For Canadian citizens Canada’s army is crazily undermanned lmfao and losing people even faster we cannot help take care of our veterans so we turn a blind eye and forget them all together I hope there’s a turn around soon if not lol can’t wait for that draft
It will never turn around. You have to remember that we are a country of only 38 million compared to 338 million yanks and god knows how many Brits. Their GDP is much greater than ours so they can enjoy a larger armed forces. Canada compensates by training training and more training. We will stand up to any military in the world in terms of discipline and tactical ability. Sometimes dependence on technology does not work in your favour, especially when it fails and you have not developed the ability to compensate.
@@doughook4287 BS. We only spend 0.9 % of GDP on defense. Yes our soldiers are trained well, but truth be known. Is we rationalize being neighbors to the US means we can live under their umbrella. Used Aussie F-18's, the shape our navy is in, need to replace our fleet of fighter's. We need reform with the military. The world isn't looking any nicer nowadays.
@@Kman31ca The country as a whole needs reform in a lot of places. At this point it just feels like the government wants this country under absolute control before everything else, a strong military would be the primary obstacle of that. The US government has to fear their own military and rightfully so, that's why they are so necessary.
And we have a PM who if you ask him what the biggest problem with our military is, he'll tell you: "Gender Equality".

I've been to Wainwright, it is intimidating by size and terrain. B.T.W C.F.B. Suffield, C.F.B Gagetown and C.F.B.Borden are all larger land area bases within Canada and this does not include the massive air base training areas in other parts of the country. Practice at game speed is how yoy win, whether in hockey or soccer or combat.

Great video
I've worked on the Wainwright base doing rig work. Lots of oil and gas wells there.
Last time i was through Wainwright the boys were pulling a stuck Centurion tank out of the ditch next to the highway. Talk about real life scenarios.

I love Canada because most of them are open-minded to foreigners like me. They are gentle as the people of the Great Britain were long time ago. When he said the British soldiers were used to having an ordered plan and that was different, I wondered how much of that was planned and how much was because it's the Canadian Army and chaos is basically how we roll.
Americans have that reputation too:
“A serious problem in planning against American doctrine is that the Americans do not read their manuals, nor do they feel any obligation to follow their doctrine.”
- Soviet observation during the Cold War
@@billsoo8679 I think there is truth to this. British fighting doctrine has always been very structured and perhaps for an enemy, predictable - Rommel noticed this. with the brits. Except Paras and elite units like Commandos
Canadian doctrine is definitely more laissez-faire. They're provided with main objectives and broken down into smaller squads with the autonomy to make decisions on the fly. No amount of planning or structure can prepare you for when nothing goes as planned. That's why we believe in creating competent decision makers who can roll with the punches and get the job done.

Well done to C Company in your endeavors at Camp Wainwright .. .. An old foe Napoleon once said that he required two things of his officers and soldiers .. .. courage and endurance .. "but by far the endurance is the most important of the two.." Endurance is a learned ability or skill .. indeed in many ways it is 'earned' by being pushed to ones limits in excellent training.. Great job by those Canadian Blue and Orange force commanders!! Canadian Armed Forces need better support from their Government. It spends just over 1% of GDP on the military. NATO countries are supposed to commit at least 2% of GDP to their defence budget. If the Government is going to send people into harm's way they should provide them with good kit.
Next go to Fort Irwin, California for desert conditions. Everyday the temperature is 125°F/51.667°C.
The small sticks in front of the rifle pit might stop a miles laser. Wonder how they would go with a bullet?...
You just can't stick to your line of fox holes when you know for sure that an attack is on it's way. At the very least every fire team should be assigned a secondary position that is both close to their fighting position and capable of at least making it more unlikely they are taken out by fire support assets that are sure to pepper their positions before the enemy ever tries to close in. Code words can be set to stand for different predetermined manouvers such as, get to your secondary safe position, and swap to the firing position.
