I was a huge KISS fan starting in 1974 with the release of "Hotter Than Hell" at the age of 15. The mid 70s was a great time to be alive, and music really meant so much back then unlike today. Unlike the character Jam my mother would buy KISS posters and a few albums for me that she thought I might not have back in the day. My mom grew up listening to Big Band music in the 1940s so KISS defiantly wasn't her kind of music. Had she still been alive in 1999, I honestly think she would have watched Detroit Rock City with me.
Very sorry to hear she didn't get to enjoy it with you my friend, never heard of anybody, at any age not enjoying this film. Thanks for commenting and liking! And I love the Lemmy pic...he was one of my all time heroes! Always will be \m/
I'm a professional actor who was in this film. Ok, part of that is bullshit. I was an extra in the final concert scene. The Hamilton newspaper called for a bunch of people to be at Copps Coliseum to be in the "audience" for a KISS film, it mentioned to dress like you were in the 70's, but it was the 90's and everyone was already dressing 70's so it was easy. We went down. It wasn't that full. I remember them having to move the small audience around for different angles, so it looked full. We thought KISS came out and were on stage for about an hour, but we were told not to freak out, it was just a tribute band called "Hotter Than Hell" being their stand-ins while they set the lighting etc. Then, the real band came out and mimed to the song Detroit Rock City about 15 times. It was funny because it was the full 1978 KISS tour stage with pyros and lighting and explosions, but the sound was coming from a single little PA speaker the size of a suitcase and wasn't loud at all. At one point, Paul Stanley flipped out on a kid for using a laser pointer and said "If you shine that thing at me again, I'm gonna come down there and kick yo assss" Instead of being scared, everyone in the audience just laughed at him because he said "ass" with his famous lisp. Anyway, there's some trivia of the day, for anyone who stumbles upon this great video. I loved the movie. It's great.
This movie got me into KISS and rock n roll as a whole when i was 8. Hawk was always my favorite one and after 12 years, last saturday i went to my first and probably last KISS concert dressed just like him as a tribute for this awesome movie. Nice video, bro.
This is certainly a location tour I would love to do again...more professionally, as this was the first film location tour I did. But this was the first!
Duuuuude! Why in the WORLD do I subscribe to these amazing, hidden Subscribers?! Because I want to wrap myself up in Nostalgia while learning about those secret, hot places… before they get TOO popular lol. Enough said - thx 🙏 Bro!
Great Video! My favorite part is when they threw the pizza and hit the preppy kids car behind them and the situation ended with the preppy kids tied up with Kiss style makeup on 🤣🤘🏻
If I do a revisit to some of the locations I can show exactly where they were tied and where the ditch is. You have to pay to get on the 407. We did, but as you see, it was raining and quite hard when we were going by that spot.
Yep it was!! Already knew that but it was under construction when this was filmed. They used two stores for different interior shots! This was the other. Stay tuned for 25th anniversary video this yr which will include the Star Convenience as well. Thanks for watching 👀 🙂
The guy trying to sell you weed in the parking lot😂 "no I don't need any man"🤣🤣🤣 very nicely rolled joint earlier on by the way..textbook! Classic Mr. Thrasha❤❤
jam mom was my mother in real life
