I am so glad that Slim lived a nice long life,so that the next generation could enjoy him while he was still performing at a high level. And Sanborn sounds great!
I went to see Slim in the back room of the Kings Head in Islington. He was great - and moreover I discovered the source of the song Cement Mixer Putti-Putti that my long-departed mum used to sing around the house when I was little ,
Steve Fiddler You’re right about the sax solo less would have been more . I saw him play with jack Bruce once at the old Bottom Line ( NYC ) he gave a much better performance/ a little more restraint. Love Slim Gaillard

David Sanborn was quite good, wasn't he?
Only kidding - that's a fabulous solo, and what a tone!

Night Music on NBC - an 80s Sunday show hosted by Sanborn.
I used to see Slim a lot around this time in London venues. Got to see him many times and meet him too. Great man...
Mr M Wow! I’m a huge Slim fan! What was he like? I suddenly feel as if I’ve been touched by greatness! 😃
A legend! And Hiram Bullock on guitar too!
Seems like I've known this song my whole life but I don't know why.
Saw him in Newcastle-under-Lyme a wonderful night.
Nice to see Slim being presented by Jools, and accompanied by David Sanborn, no less!
So good!😍👏
class act there
and he's definitely singing it as originally written - flat feet FLOOZIE
I wonder if that's some copy right thing as his partner sings it Floogie - on his own.
Originally "Flim flam floozie," but that was apparently too risqué.
This makes me want some potatoe chips !
Is That Dave Sanborn on Alto ??? >>> J D
Looks like. 😍😍😍
Hey Nate.
Is this Marcus Miller on doublebass???
Oh yasss !
yes and he sucks
In the 80s & early 90s, Miller was a member of Sanborn's band. He also wrote songs & I think he produced some of Sanbor's albums.
What a killer sax solo! Seen him on lots of sessions but I've forgotten his name.
David Sanborn
Terrible sax solo. He tried to fit all the jazz licks he knows into one solo. Totally way over the edge and did not fit the groove of the band.
Steve Fiddler You’re right about the sax solo less would have been more . I saw him play with jack Bruce once at the old Bottom Line ( NYC ) he gave a much better performance/ a little more restraint. Love Slim Gaillard
I'm no jazz/sax expert whatsoever, but it sounds out of place and a bit too fast paced. Would've fit better to a pop song for example
A lot of notes about nothing. Very bad solo... Sanborn is only a mile away from Kenny G.
Sax player did too much show boating and didn’t keep it meat n potatoes… oh well it was his moment because that’s all he wanted to hear…. 😑
David Sanborn. Gone. Missed.
Who's the piano player?
Nice to see being presented by a man with woman voice. LOL
