[TAS] RE4 Mercenaries: Waterworld, Wesker 210200

This is a tool assisted superplay (TAS), played frame by frame with time reversing until a good result is achieved.
The route is loosely based on 98KRAUSER and dxm8975 route.
This TAS was played on NTSC GC version.
The pistol with high critical makes for easy headshots in TAS.

I've been looking forward to this one!
And not only is it a work of art and takes God knows how long to put together; it also highlights, just like your Village run, how amazingly skilled the likes of dxm8975 are to be able to hit scores of 205k without any trickery whatsoever.

Thanks! I can't imagine the memorization and skill it took dxm8975 to get 205100. It was very difficult even with TAS to get the spawn glitch for every zone.

Well, now you have finally a TAS run on waterworld... that looked pretty awesome, and wow, 45 kills in the first two chests just blew up my mind. lol
In the section after the 1st chest you're playing in a route that's so different than Show's, I liked the idea of trying to kill some additional ganados of the spawning area inside the building and spawning the plaga archer and hooded grabber ganado on the first floor of the building one more time(enemies of the spawning area on the second floor of the said building) for taking them out in the chest, though in my opinion technically it's definitely easier to play like that on NTSC Gamecube version than on other platforms for the irregular movement of the ganados exclusive on that version. :-p on Show's route theoretically it's possible to get up to 44 kills in the first chest if you don't want to ruin any of the extra spawnings of ganados afterwards, yet you have to wait a few seconds for them to respawn during the chest, obviously it's undoable without TAS.
Show's route is much simpler and much easier to play in my view, but this one also looks appealing to play. though you have to make full use of your brain all the time and well get used to what to do - in this route you spawn the ganados of different spawning areas more often than Show's, so you have to maintain calm all the time and play cleverly. this one looks much more complex and tricky ))
Overall, this is a great run, but it still leaves me wonder - in some parts of the game does the spawning work slightly differently on NTSC version than on PS4 version?
(or am I missing something?)
(I saw some of Head Minerve's videos on WW he played on NTSC GC version and there he killed 36 enemies instead of 35 in the 2nd chest, on the PS3/PS4 version it's impossible to kill the 36th ganado unless you wait for a while after kill #35, if you want to get the spawning of extra ganados work properly)

Thanks! I don't know of spawning differences as I have only played NTSC GC. The behavior is different, ganados run immediately after spawning. Much of the route was trial and error, killing ganados and testing how many needed for full spawn glitch. I can't get how you memorize this, very good job on your runs!

I'm not sure if I already thanked to you for your compliments somewhere else or did I mention any of it, but thanks ;) this was at first so hard for me to memorize all the patterns of the spawning and exactly how the spawning worked on the level, but after all the time of dedication I did in 2016~2017 and in 2020 it seemed like I managed to grasp only a fleck of it. I wouldn't really claim myself a master of the stage but they were both a fun time for me to have anyways :3.
After having a 205100 I still kept on grinding the level for a while and now I've got a mid 206k (206600) score as my PB score, if I ever manage to feel like going back to mercs and feel motivated enough to try to "optimize" things even further I might try a few new chest strategies I've had up in my sleeves (ones I'm yet to show on youtube) which would allow us to get a high 206k or low 207k score instead of mid or low 206k~205k. (Concretely somewhere around 206900 or 207200 which as far as I can tell at this point would be the "de facto" technically possible score to obtain.).

Hey, I've been watching your TAS runs on the 3 maps and they're really impressive, such a good job, congrats.
I was wondering if you planned to do a TAS of Wesker Base as well at some point? We were wondering with some other players, it's gonna be a pain to get all the enemies during the chests there (if it's even possible) since we have to run for quite a bit after getting the usual 35 kills to spawn more guys, and breaking the combo really early compared to what we usually do to get better second/third chests, but that's gonna need a decent amount of rerouting (unless you plan to do it on GC NTSC again, but since there's only 101 enemies instead of 117 you won't be able to get the maximum score). Anyway, if you plan to do it at some point and you need help, we'll be happy to help you with some other players, we have some ideas in mind, I know dxm knows a lot about this stage too. Peace!
