Looks great! You can also make a single stroke in the painting, and turn on "cloning" to clone it a bunch of times. This method is also good for performance and graphics thermo. And if you want to tint everything under the water (including any gaps in the painting) is to use a text gadget with low opacity.
@@seniorsly Tweak the text gadget, go to the "settings" tab. Turn in the "in scene" switch so that instead of being stuck to the screen, it is in the world itself. Make sure there is some text on the first tab though so it'll actually render while playing; easiest way is to add a space so it's invisible.

@@GreenGiantSlayer probably the way it shows in the tutorial with a physical object that you change the physics of, but sadly the game doesn't let you change opacity of objects
With tools and not 100% freedom like in a regular engine, but it gets really close to be able to do whatever you want, especially considering you have sculpting tools included in the package. Also a social network where to share and discover creations, as well as being able to borrow assets created by other players. Basically the best thing ever.
Way more WYSIWYG than things like Unreal, Source, or Unity, but not as basic as LBP, Roblocks, Mario Maker, etc. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. Also, it's not just the engine. It's also built-in tutorials with files you edit while watching the tutorials. Finishing all the tutorials is like doing 2 semesters of game design school. I paid 4000 dollars a term for those classes, and I could have gotten a lot of the same stuff from a 40 dollar game if I had just done the smart thing and waited 14 years for it to come out. Ok, got off on a tangent, but for people who have use simpler level editors before and want to move to the next step and get into modeling (well, sculpting anyhow) and game scripting, this is a good next step. All that's left is to learn the truly mindnumbing details like unwrapping, shaders, weighting vertices, motion capture rigs, etc.
TyraLetzPlayz you already can make a world with your GF. It can either be a collab or using share play or if you guys live together just connect another DS. You can also play local multiplayer games or also use share play to play co-op.
Yeah, just use a trigger zone, and the wire that into the physics you want to effect. Of course using other logic to tweak it precisely how you'd like.
Thanks for this! I’m trying to find a thermo friendly way to place water in a giant pool (that you can enter) in my creation and this has been a big help.
Yeah, it could definitely work for glass. Just choose a different fleck (probably the square one) and don't touch the effects. Alternatively, another trick I've seen people use for glass is the text gadget (believe it or not) - if you don't type anything, set the background to white, remove the border and lower the background opacity it gives a great glass effect.
I just dont understand how people can even think of the concepts of how they do these things. Or know how to use dreams so well. People are really amazing with it. And its only been a few weeks. A few years from now as they add tools and features. Dreams is going to be a force of a community. Just watching what people did over time in games lile Minecraft and others. I cant imagine what will be made in dreams 5 6 years from now. Yikes. Hopefully I can make a square by then. Great video. Great scene as well. What an amazing IP to have on playstations catalog.
Fancy making a tutorial showing how to make the player interact with this sort of water, swimming for example? Either way this water looks amazing and I'll be using this method myself, thank you! :)
The Runaway Kid LBP did not have water straight away. I know because I remember being amazed when they put it in on a later update. As many creators were using glass to represent water previously. I agree though they do need to put it in at the beginning. I dare say that they will hold a lot of stuff back at launch in order to sell it as DLC later on. It's the way of things I am afraid.
When, i enter sculp mode from 1:06, it grays out the space for water that I prepared. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. And when I go to paint mode at 1:35, it greys out everything in the background including the square I created. I REALLY NEED HELP I can go into every mode except paint mode.
In the preference menu, there is a setting you can change to stop this happening. (I think it is called 'visual feedback' unless it had changed since early access).
So I had a look - the water is super nice! I'm not entirely sure how they made it so I'm not confident enough to make a tutorial - however I can give you my best guess on how I think it was done: -The top layer of water looks like it was made the same way as my method - but instead of doing a plain, flat layer of ruled flecks it looks like a design (with swirls etc.) was made instead. When you go underwater, you can see there are two layers of this. -No effects such as waves or flow seem to be used - instead it looks like keyframes were used to move the surface of the water. This allows the water to stay flat - perfect for a pool -Under the water, the scene turns blue - I'm guessing they used a grade and effects gadget to achieve this -All the other nice little touches such as splashes etc. would have been animated using the paint tool
This is so good! Thank you for sharing! :) One thing I noticed is that you get a microchip out to put the fog gadget on so you can see it. Instead, if you click X on the gadget a little white circle will appear. You can drag that to wherever you want and the fog will come from that but the gadget itself will not move! That way you don't have microchips everywhere, just thought you might find that helpful 😊
Please do you know if it’s possible to use blur effect on specific objects? Like connect blur to one planet, instead of blurring the whole image? Great video, you got a new sub✨✨
Hmm, do you mean blur from the Grade and effects gadget? If so, I don't think you can unfortunately. The only way I can think to achieve that effect is to increase the looseness on the object until it looks blurry - or perhaps place some fog over it?
Next Christmas? I'm waiting until Summer next year. I am going to sell my Xbox 360 for 175 dollars and my Xbox 360 games for 35 dollars so I can get a 150 dollar PS4 at a pawn shop and than buy the game. I am guessing it's 60 dollars.

I am wanting to make an RPG like game but I haven't made any levels link together yet so I dunno what you can make carry over like inventory or stats. If non can then that will basically makes a decent RPG impossible.
You definitely can! If you set variables to 'persist in dream' (there's an option in the tweak menu of the gadget) they will carry over between scenes. So basically if you create logic that says 'if the variable is this number, do this thing' (e.g if the variable 'hat' is set to 1, have the character wear a hat) you will be able to carry stuff over.
