Hey Larry I love your work. Have you or known inmates been in prison during extreme weather(i.e. floods from hurricanes, tornadoes)? What happened or could happen to the inmates during extreme weather?
i like to watch this show on netflix call the worlds toughest prisons, id love to see what you think of some of those prisons maybe do some comparisons on those to America.
I remember reading an article years ago about an escape artist who continued to claim his innocence. He escaped successfully 3 times before they found out he really was innocent, but there is a law that was called the 3 strikes that landed him a life sentence for escaping 3 times, even though he was found innocent for the original crimes.
The article I read was back in the 90's (which means he was incarcerated earlier than that), and unfortunately he did commit 3 crimes by escaping. So while it may be wrong, it's still legal. As for his legal actions I have never found out what happened afterward.
That is like a version of entrapment which is highly frowned upon by the people dumb dumb. If he didn't escape 3 times do you honestly think they would take that close of a look at him and realize he is innocent.
The smartest escape there was, when a prisoner phoned the front desk of the jail, impersonating a judge, reducing his bail to a token amount; posted bail; then left the state.
I don't think I could ever do something like that. I would be so nervous to be caught, not having any control over how that might go. Like, how do you back out of that if they start to figure out something is up? "Just kidding, prank call haha"? You really would have to commit.
I heard that at Fremantle prison in Perth, Western Australia, a couple inmates made their own guard uniforms in the textile workshop and walked out the front gate. There was also Moondyne Joe, and he had the most escapes.
@@LarryLawtonJewelThief Moondyne Joe was a legend. His escapes included carving around the lock of a cell with his cutlery, climbing over a prison wall with knotted bedsheets and mining through the prison wall. These were all separate escapes. Mind you, this was in the 1850’s, so security wasn’t as tight as it is today. But it was still an impressive feat.
Seen a woman snuggle a giraffe egg in her body, it hatched, we used its long neck, over the fence and landmines to get to the horses (we had friends hatch them a few weeks prior) rode off into the wind. Been riding off ever since, my life has become like Caligula.
Why would you escape if you didnt have a direct ride out of the country? I understand why youd want to break out but to stay in the same town just seems like a foolish way to get a longer sentence.
I worked in a prison for several years. We had one guy escape. Impressive move he scaled the fence and hopped over the razor wire without so much as a scratch. As a member of the SORT team I was called in to help do the search. Two days later he was stopped at a roadblock and was recognized because one of the officers at the roadblock used to work his cell block. He had shaved, cut and dyed his hair, and looked very little like the pictures we had given to the local law enforcement agencies. But when he was recognized he took off and ended up crashing the car and then disappeared into the woods. Search continued but we had a general idea of where. I found him the next night hiding in some bushes outside of an abandoned house. He was genuinely worried he was in for a beating. No cameras, no witnesses and this wasn’t his first escape and was shot while being apprehended the first time. I just cuffed him up and walked him back to the car. He said something about being surprised I didn’t do anything to him. I was truthful, it is a part of the game. It is our job to keep him in the fences and his job to get out. He won that game but I’m still the undefeated world champion of hide and go seek.

I worked as a subcontractor at New Mexico's state prison / our maximum prison. After that the prison built three guard/ gun towers - one for each housing units and one at the middle of the property. The gunmen in each tower were authorized to shout any unauthorized aircraft down. As a contractor I had to work in the towers and those gunmen were very serious about their jobs.
the prison break here in Denmark in Copenhagen, was coordinated with a smuggled in cellphone, and the news crew did not know about the prison break, all they were told was that there would be a protest by former prisoner, it was actually some of the people who helped coordinate the escape, that called the news. I have to say it was fun to watch on the news when it happened, and the 10 they didn't catch went straight from the prison break to the border and out of the country
I lost it at 10:35 the way Larry says “Brooke”. It’s like Larry is giving out information before a test and making sure the student is paying attention, that clip just cracks me up every time.
There's a video called "the incredible japanese prison break" it's by a UA-camr called kento bento, I think you'd enjoy it. Its about a man who was falsely imprisoned for murder who escaped prison 3 times (maybe 4)
One great video to make would be to go back to Atlanta prison and interview/talk to a inmate that has a life sentence and discuss with him was has changed, compared to when you were in there. Keep up the good work.
10:23 Upstate NY'er here, I remember seeing those interviews! I was in college at the time and when this all went down there were roadblocks and checkpoints from my college all the way 4 hours back home. Much love from the 518!
Larry. I actually escaped from jail. Myself and four of my college classmates were arrested for disorderly conduct. When we were put in the holding cell I leaned back against the door and it was left unlocked. It being 1 hour before closing time we decided to go back downtown before last call. We returned to jail after the bars closed. In the morning we had to pay 10 dollars, cash only, to hang em high Halliday the judge. True store, they had a hell of a racket going on and 10 bucks was a lot of money back in the 70’s.
There was actually a Showtime limited series made about the Richard Matt and David Sweat escape, called "Escape at Dannemora." It was actually really good, and starred Benicio Del Toro and Patricia Arquette as well as several other great actors/actresses. They did a good job showing how they were able to manipulate and con the female prison employee (she wasn't a guard. If I remember correctly, she taught a computer or typing class... At least in the show) into helping them escape. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
I was a corrections officer for a few months (long enough for me to see what the job was like and me to think, "what the hell am I doing") at a juvenile institution in Louisiana. We had 2 escapes while I was there. The first was some boys climbed through a window in a room that they shouldn't have access to, hotwired a tractor to pull next to a fence and use it to climb over the fence after throwing spare clothing over the wire on the top. They were caught the next day hiding in an abandoned house not too far from the prison. The second was a young man who was allowed to drive a tractor pulling a trailer with other inmates and a guard driving the tractor out the back gate with the guard still on the tractor. This one I don't think the young man was actually expecting to escape because he just puttered around the town on the tractor with the trailer and guard still attached until the police pulled up.
You should react to the incredible Japanese Prison Break. It's about 25 minutes long, but it's worth the watch. Everything that happened in that video has been documented and nothing was made up.

Hey. I worked as OIG for a few months at a juvenile detention facility. That scene with the white van was my nightmare whenever I had to check them out. They made us open the hood and search any crevice a kid could have fit in to escape through that van. Can’t believe those guards manage to lose A WHOLE ADULT.
Some of the most impressive escapes I've read of were IRA prison escapes in Ireland and England. They've seen mass breakouts of 32 breaking out and 18 remaining free. Twice. From the most "inescapable" prison in Europe at that time. Smuggling a gun into Brixton prison in London, too. Or the helicopter escape from Dublin.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a teenager getting arrested for fighting at school. When I was in high school, all students involved in a fight would get a ticket and 3 days suspension.
Yup it's called Zero Tolerance policies. I'm older, but even when I was in school 20 yrs ago we had it. Fighting, threats of any kind, hitting, would likely result in immediate arrest of all parties concerned. Even if some kid was whaling on you with no teacher in sight, you raise a finger to defend yourself, you're going to jail too. It's garbage.
Hey Larry I love your videos I couldn’t find you on UA-cam when I got my new iPhone and I finally found you it’s going to be back and enjoy your content
I knew one of the deputies who worked the jail for the escape at @6:45 . He said all that would keep prisoners in the cage in back was a child lock, and that those were take home cars that they could drive around with family in. So the officer had disabled the child lock to allow his family to get in and out, but forgot to re-enable it.
Hi Larry, in France we have a convict, Redouane Faid, who escaped with success 2 times very spectacularly, once with guns and explosives, and 2 years ago with a drone and an helicopter. He met the film director Michael Mann because Heat inspired him for his heists. Thanks for your work, your channel is my new favourite, stay free and stay yourself.
@@LarryLawtonJewelThief Yeah, but the movie doesn't answer the question of whether these guys made it to the mainland or not. The prison authoritiies concluded that these guys were eaten by sharks in the SF Bay based on the condition the raft was in when they found it floating around the bay. But this might have been a fake story propogated by the warden and his lieutenants just to quell any kind of fear or anxiety among the residents and businesses that these guys could possibly be walking among them.
I'm from Québec, easy time compared to the U.S. They had a place called Parthenais, it was headquarters for the Provincial (state) police. On the 11th floor they made the entire floor a holding center for heavies not sentenced yet. 3 guys got bedsheets and made it out a window, it was winter like minus 20 outside. The guards finally got there one guy was almost all the way down 4th 5th floor. Supposedly the screws cut the sheets. As well we had a helicopter escape...now that was cool, check it out. You should do a video on the prisons over here in Beaumont, Texas. They’re pretty bad. Thanks bud.
Mr. Lawton, In the mid-1990s, I was working at Ordway Prison near Manzanola, Colorado as a teacher. In less than 2 or 3 minutes, a helicopter landed right out in the middle of the yard, took on a small number of inmates and took off. The Officers in the guard towers didn't shoot because they were utterly dumbfounded. Perhaps they thought it was someone from the state. They found out later this had been a well-worked out plan, almost down to the minute. I do believe the inmates were captured within 30 days. You should check this one out. It would make a great video in and of itself.
Bundy's first escape was the same exact thing. Out a 2nd Story window. He spent weeks preparing by jumping repeatedly from his bunk to strengthen his legs and ankles.

I have to say it was fun to watch on the news when it happened, and the 10 they didn't catch went straight from the prison break to the border and out of the country
"got a great video for you today"
you always do.
Thanks I appreciate that
I love your honestly in reviewing them. It makes sense you saw the worst prison has to offer and have an inside knowledge.
Can't say I b;lame him
you should make a video on it
That video seemed pretty exaggerated. Like by alot
That was a cool video
“The human instinct is to GTFO”
And those who don’t have that instinct are often find themselves in situations where they’re told to
yep, I agree
If you can’t do the time don’t do the crime. Learned that the hard way
One great video to make would be to go back to Atlanta prison and interview/talk to a inmate that has a life sentence and discuss with him was has changed, compared to when you were in there.
Keep up the good work.
They won't let me in there
@@LarryLawtonJewelThief probably becuase they might still have your records.
They don't let ex-prisoners back inside to help you write your book or make your UA-cam channel. And, I for one, think it's a good idea.
Sounds like Otis the drunk on the Andy Griffith Show. He used to come in drunk and lock himself up.
She was a nurse
That dude slowly weakened the bars with his MISO SOUP!!!
@@PortCityBalrog His combined intelligence and body contortion skills made him almost superhuman.
"getting out is one thing, staying out is another thing"
that's new and coolest thing I ever heard
Awesome vid as always Larry, some of these dudes are straight savages 😂 When i heard the 10 didn't get caught i was damn near happy for em but ya know.. thanks for the content🤍 Much love brother, im honestly so thankful for your videos you really brighten my day/mornings . Thank you bro.
you are an excellent communicator i love your videos man! love from PORTUGAL
Larry, have you thought about making a video on Otto Warmbiers case? I think it would be really interesting.
Oh yes, I agree,
I agree, I'd like to see this as well!
I think the bulldozer escape was the best one. Love the beard! Much love big guy!
Thanks Catherine, I appreciate that
Ran across your channel this last summer, and love the content, as well as the “no bullshit” commentary. Respect, brother 👊🏻
Thank you and have a nice day Larry.
Thank you as well.
Ayyyyyy the upstate NY breakout that hes talking about around 10:06 is super close to where I live. Before they caught those guys my small town was a MADHOUSE, everyone getting knocks door to door, choppers, absolute insanity cause its a particularly small town in a particularly rural area. Never expected to hear Larry talking about that haha
I always loved the ones that try to escape from work release from the facility instead of leaving from the job
Eh from Canada , You r right about the life sentence Larrry. Starsky and Hutch said Do the crime and do your time. I got in before the Y. O. started and got schooled from friends of my father . Knowing what not to do inside is very important . Keep it up Professor Lawton. Always a great show. thnx
"That guy was on the phone, in the prison. That's what they call the 'Prison Phone.'"
Ah yes, allow me to take notes xD
All in good fun. I always enjoy your videos.
I wonder if inmates call the guards "cops". Literally, I will never forget.
Love this channel, thank you Larry.
Great video, thank you Larry. Love your insight.
Thanks, I appreciate you watching
Had to finish yesterdays podcast before watching this. Love when it’s you and your brother doing the show.
Gotta love how this popped up after I listened to a payday 2 soundtrack.
Love your videos and I love how you help us people keep safe from robbers as well ^^
Hey. I worked as OIG for a few months at a juvenile detention facility. That scene with the white van was my nightmare whenever I had to check them out. They made us open the hood and search any crevice a kid could have fit in to escape through that van. Can’t believe those guards manage to lose A WHOLE ADULT.
I think that my favorite escape is the Mountjoy helicopter escape. It's just so brazen and I love it.
The reporters face as you explain... priceless 🤣🤣🤣
Can't wait the see you on the dope as usual podcast! My two favorite youtbers when I'm not watching Larry lawton I'm watching dope as yola vice versa
"stick to what you're good at guys; breaking hearts, not breaking out of jail" oOf 🔥😂
Hey Larry, so happy to see your upload notification
Hi Ben, I am heading to NY on Friday. It is cold up there right now
Exited to see you on dope as usual huge fan of you both can’t wait to see that collab
His begining line I got a great video for you is iconic needs to be printed on a shirt
Hey Larry this reminded me of the Alcatraz escapes. do you have any thoughts on them? be a neat video to see you talk about famous prisons
I do and I should do a review of that movie
@@LarryLawtonJewelThief Yeah, but the movie doesn't answer the question of whether these guys made it to the mainland or not. The prison authoritiies concluded that these guys were eaten by sharks in the SF Bay based on the condition the raft was in when they found it floating around the bay. But this might have been a fake story propogated by the warden and his lieutenants just to quell any kind of fear or anxiety among the residents and businesses that these guys could possibly be walking among them.
A little birdie told me you’re meeting up with Thomas from dope as usual next month… very excited for this one!
It is being planned.
I like that Larry knows this video is great from the beginning :)
Hey big lar hope ur doing well man this looks like a great video have a good day man
It is a wild ride
Found ur UA-cam channel 2 days ago....have already watched nearly all your videos🤣 love ur content Larry!!!
Great stuff, straightforward, honest and funny. Keep it going...peace Bro.🙏🏿🙏🏼
gotta love that back to the future refrence
That cop in the first clip is on the radio like ... Billy is running 🏃♂️ again , head to the bar🍸
What a video enjoyed it all thanks for your thoughts respect from the UK
Lol, explaining to Brooke about suitcasing! She's probably thinking, 'that's not what I usually put up there'
i like how you have already changed your life well done
Sidenote, loving the new beard look! Thanks for the entertaining content as always :)
Thank you, I am thinking about keeping it. Not sure yet
yay ...story time with everyone's favourite Uncle.....welcome back Uncle Larr

Your efforts in replying are unmatched by any channel I know. Let alone any channel with more than 1000 subs. You're an inspiration :)
New to the channel! this is my first video watching. Your commentary is great! Keep up the good work!
Hey Larry, love the videos and thank you for all that you do. It would be super awesome to get your take on the Alcatraz Escape in a future video.
larry in a previous video you said you hope we see you changed im here to tell you youv changed more than just you im an ex criminal and drug addict i got clean after i had a son with my babymomma im only 23 i was quite young robbing stealing and selling dope would love to share stories or have a convorsation with you one day youv made me realize crime isnt worth it i watch your videos to keep me away from my past and stay on a straight course
I think there are even countries that don't give you more time for escape, because it's a natural instinct.
yes i think they are right
They definitely right to. Not only is it basic drive, but it doesn't make sense. They tried to escape when you gave them 5, 15 more isn't stopping them trying again 😂
Im just glad to see a former inmate hunker down and go to the majik of youtube.
Lmao the reporters face when you were talking about suitcasing was so fucking golden
Hey Larry, I work in the Beaumont area around the prisons.
There are signs on the highway and roads saying “Do not pick up Hitchhikers “.
In my line of work I have to work on the prison premises, and I’ve been stopped by the “Rovers “ several times asking what I’m doing.
Dig your videos !!
You should do a video on the prisons over here in Beaumont, Texas.
They’re pretty bad.
Thanks bud.
Just commenting for the algorhythym . Love your work ! Quite accurate !
Larry your awesome. The realest Mad respect man
I love your channel Larry your a legend keep up the great work.
I remember the upstate NY breakout - they were very close to where I lived at one point - felt a lot longer than the 3 weeks you said.
I wish I could meet you. You are awesome in every sense of the word. Awesome upload
Loved the video Lar!
One of my favorite reviewing videos can anybody recommend a classic
I like doing these videos
The 3rd one when the guy runs out from under the door is Hudson county jail in Kearney New Jersey
Bundy's first escape was the same exact thing. Out a 2nd Story window. He spent weeks preparing by jumping repeatedly from his bunk to strengthen his legs and ankles.
