Just brought some of these from hunting and fishing Masterton. They said to do what you said not too.

I like the editing on this one mate haha. I prefer the Docan snapper ball over the Baku Baku, but up here in the hauraki gulf the ocean angler slider rules all.

Good timing, I've just bought one, and I didn't know how to rig it :-). Question - how heavy leader would you use with a 150g Baku Baku, aiming for Hapuka in Kaikoura?

Hello Mark, I greatly appreciate all the info. What advantage does the Baku Baku have over other Kabura style lures or even Shimano’s Engetsu lure?
The shape if you watch the Baku Baku commercials you will see how well the Baku swims BUT you can't use it as a slow jig it works best as a swimming lure. Shimano has spent a long time working the swimming action we only worked it out after filming it underwater then playing in back on the computer! hope this helps mate
So what would be the best way to use it? Dropping to depth on a drift and leaving at the depth? Or more like a soft bait and cast and retrieve?
@@bendave01 Drop to bottom and slowly retrieve then pause for 5 seconds and drop back down repeat. You can also drop and hold and drift works as well.
