- Kabura-style jigs like Shimano's Tiger Baku Bakus have become very popular in recent times, especially among offshore anglers targeting snapper and other reef species... but did you know they're also deadly on sand flathead? In this information-packed how-to clip, Starlo shows exactly how to use them in that role. Enjoy!

Love your work Starlo, I watch a few of your videos from time to time. Keep ‘em coming.
Thanks!
_Definitely_ more coming, too! 🙂
Awesome video mate 👍. I will definitely have to go and pick some of them up
Thanks, Jared!
Good technique to master, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent, thanks Starlo, will be in touch with my local shimano dealer to get a couple. I like the maikuro rods, good product at a reasonable price
Thanks mate. Yes, I agree... the Maikuro's offer great bang for your buck.
nice master i like that for bream family
Thanks!
Great video Starlo. Great content.
Thanks so much!
Best video i seen sir thanks for all information can u please send the DETAILS of this set u use please much appreciate.
Thanks Alan. Reel is a Shimano TranX 200 spooled with 15 pound Kairiki braid on a Shimano Maikuro Slow Jig rod. Hope that helps.
@@StarloGetsReel thanks very much for help
All fishing vids should be as short, sweet and informative. Awesome. How imperative do you reckon the slow pitch rod/reel are? I suspect rather important, but would be keen to know your thoughts.
Thanks Mathew! I don't think that particular rod and reel combo is imperative, and you could even use spin gear, but the direct contact and line control offered by an overhead reel, plus the sensitivity and bite detection of a long-ish, soft-tipped rod certainly enhance the whole experience.
@@StarloGetsReel thanks mate.
Gday Starlo, did you have the tip half of your rod running on the opposite side as the reel?
Also, you said that the legal size for flathead is 33cm in NSW. Is that correct? When did it change?
Sand flathead are only a minimum 33 cm. Dusky are 36.
Scott, it's a "spiral wrap" rod. The guide train progresses around the rod, finishing underneath. Excellent for this style of rod. And yes, as Mick Knowles stated below, current (2020) minimum length for sand and tiger flathead in NSW is 33cm. It's 36cm for duskies.
Great jigs but shimano doesn't sell replacement skirts so they're good for one or two catches only. Waste of money
I'm positive I saw replacement skirts on sale at McCallum's Tackleworld in Nowra recently. Might have been a different brand but I'm sure the fish won't mind. ;)
@@StarloGetsReel thanks, I've found something else that might work. Need to steer clear of leatherjackets!
