One of the best aspect about Destiny is the innate sense of humour that the community has developed because whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold

I agree, the Destiny community is at its best when taniks has no House. He kneels before no banner, owes allegiance to no Kell. He is a murderer, and very good at what he does. I have been tracking him since Wolves broke their chains, yes? Now Taniks works for Wolf pack ...but not for long.

It's honestly refreshing to hear someone give Destiny praise in the areas it really deserves. The franchise's sound design is absolutely top notch and shows Bungie haven't lost their touch in that department since leaving Halo.

Destiny's an odd series. The playerbase can be so negative and critical, but also gush over new content. The game might be deeply flawed, but it survives despite every other game touted as a Destiny-killer. Sometimes grind's are unreasonable in the amount required for the loot you want, but sometimes a once in a lifetime experience is dropped in a secret mission or a raid or a dungeon, which when done blind, fresh, and underleveled, becomes magical. If you want a good time, get a friend or two that's about as experienced as you, and just hop into some of the content blind, except maybe learning the systems of the game. Some things, like the main stories, are going to be snoozefests, while others, like the dungeons, become one of those campfire stories you can talk about in the future.

    • @EatThePath-7
      @EatThePath-7 3 роки тому +16

I'm honestly thankful it has such a negative and critical playerbase. I've already seen the effects of one that overprotects their game and justifies constant low quality (Warframe).
D2 would have never turned around if people just appluded Bungie because they always wanted to be positive about anything that was put into the game.

    • @arcadeinvader8086
      @arcadeinvader8086 3 роки тому +3

Bungie just seems determined to play to destiny's weaknesses (competitive pvp, campaign narrative) rather than its strengths (base gameplay, endgame). If they got rid of a few more patrol worlds and instead focused on adding more missions like the dungeons, zero hour, or presage, it would be so much better.

The first Destiny will always have a very special place in my heart. I never owned the game personally, but my best friend had a copy for PS3 when we were in elementary school together. Golden memories of having sleepovers with him are tied to the game, as we would wake up at unholy hours of the early morning to hop on the game and squeeze out as much time as we could before my mom came to pick me up. I especially remember coming across a terrifying easter egg with him that kept me up all night long and sticks with me to this day. It was a voice line that said "A million deaths are not enough for Master Rahool" and was placed near a cave where players would commonly go to farm for engrams. It was the first time I really sat down and thought about what we were really doing: slaughter. It was a brutal realization for such a young kid. Additionally, it revealed the terror that comes with implied lore, which is probably what led me to enjoy Lovecraft so much later in life. I'm now on my way to college for game design, and I still find myself getting a little freaked out by the scale and uncertainty of Destiny's depiction of our universe. Thank you for making this video, it helped me to remember some valuable moments.

After putting thousands of hours into the destiny franchise, I can say with the utmost certainty that the most compelling part of the game isn't its gameplay. While the gunplay is fluid and the abilities are fun to use, the artistic direction of the franchise and the lore surrounding it are what keeps me coming back. The taken king, rise of iron and forsaken are considered the best expansions between the two games and this is mostly because they featured wonderful art direction and a fairly cohesive narrative direction. While the magic of raids and strikes wears off, the world is cool enough to keep playing and hop on once in a while. I don't play that much anymore and the magic has worn off, this franchise is still one of the best I have ever played.

No one is probably going to read this, but I need some way to talk about this game. I first played Destiny probably back in 2015, when my friend's dad showed it to my dad. The only games I had even played before that were mario games, and a little bit of Titanfall. Somehow, Destiny caught my attention immediately. It was amazing. I can't think of anything that has ever made me feel that wonder and amazement before. I spent every spare second I could playing that game. I never had enough people to play raids, and I would almost always solo queue strikes, but it was still so much fun. I don't even know how to put into words how much I loved that game, or even why I loved it. It was just incredible. When the Taken King expansion came out, that's probably when the game hit it's peak for me. No game has been that much fun since then. When Destiny 2 was announced, me and my friends were going crazy. I loved the Speaker's roast in the trailer. I really enjoyed Destiny 2, but it wasn't as fun as the first. It was when Forsaken came out, that I had stopped playing the game. Even though I pre-ordered it and was super excited to play it, when it finally released, I opened up the game, and just nothing. For some reason, I didn't feel the extreme want to play Destiny as I had every day for the past few years. I decided to go play something else instead, and that was it until 2020. I was thinking about Destiny, and since the game had come out on Steam and was free to play, I decided why not come back to it. The game was so much different. I was able to bring over my playstation saves, but I couldn't play Forsaken for some reason. I know pretty much every game has battle passes and all that, but when I saw that in Destiny, it made me mad. Also, I had finally noticed the absurdity of the expansion prices, it's like buying a whole new game. I don't even know every reason I don't like the game anymore, but I just don't enjoy it as it is now. I miss playing Destiny, but I will always fondly remember the long nights playing that game. It got me into gaming, and I will always appreciate those times, even though I don't like it now.
This is probably the longest comment I've ever written. I don't know how to summarize how I feel about the game, and I don't know if this even did a slightly good job in what I was trying to say. Sorry for the ramble, but I just needed to say something.

I came into destiny as someone who hadn't been a big halo fan for years. I had fun with the games but really wasnt into them like I was back in the halo 3 and reach years.
You see, I came into destiny as a *Borderlands* fan. I was told I was coming into a NEW looter shooter and if you love the borderlands games, you'll love destiny. And among my friends, that seemed to be true. The crew of people I played through borderlands 2 a million times with, the youtubers I watched, all jumped on the destiny bandwagon.
So I played the Beta. Let's make one thing clear, the destiny beta, for some inexplicable reasons was the most fun I had with a shooter in years. It showcased the environments, enemies, and gameplay. And I adored the gameplay.
Then the game came out. I played through the segment of the beta, had fun but was just blasting through to get to the stuff I hadn't already played. And then the tedium set in. I got bored, and was content to move on to other things, but everyone in my circle from family to friends kept going, so I went with them, bored out of my mind, and lagging behind to the point where I was a liability because Ihad given up on getting good gear after the grind with literal zero rewards to keep me interested killed my will to play the game on my own. So eventually I just stopped playing completely, it wasnt fun being relegated to long ranges chipping away at bosses because my character was weaker.
And that's why I didnt play destiny 2. But seeing your gameplay in a few of your vids, looking into it a bit, I tried it out for a bit becuase it's on gamepass. And then lost interest because of the load times. That's seriously the only thing blocking me at this point lol. I just cannot stand the original xbox morrowind loadtimes and dropped it. The world and weapons seem so interesting this time around, and the gameplay looks like more of what I loved.

Destiny is a game series that I know I would’ve loved in another universe. Like that segment you did on the music filled me with high levels of nostalgia!
It really got my attention pre-release and I was hyped. But the more I seen of it post launch, the more I realize that the game wasn’t made for me. Despite falling in love with Borderlands around the same time and Destiny sharing a lot of aspects of it. Destiny was just too... idk, MMO min/max competitive (is probably the best way I can describe it).
And even now, despite still wanting to get into Destiny, with corporate influence and the MMOish nature of the game, it looks like the longer you wait to initially get into it, the harder time you’ll have. And overall, it’s seems like the game expects a lot of the player, not just skill wise but also time. And I don’t exactly want another job, I already got that with Elite Dangerous (and that’s on thin ice rn).

I don't play Destiny super often anymore but I have a lot of memories with Destiny 1, mainly getting my first exotic weapon. I don't really remember what I did to get it it but I got a quest to unlock the Hand Canon Thorn. The quest had multiple "stages" and one part of it requires killing a TON of hive. I looked up the best place to grind on the moon and found a tutorial on UA-cam that explained in one of the first hive related missions there was a part where a bunch of hive charge out of a giant door. You could kill all the hive except for one, then let the last one kill you, and then you would be reloaded to a checkpoint right before the big battle starts. I don't remember exactly how long it took but I had to do that for awhile. After that you had to go into pvp and get 500 points. To get points you have to kill players, one kill was 5 points. This might not sound too bad, however the catch was that every time you die you lose 2 points. This means that one bad game could actually take away progress which honestly made me way more competitive than normal in any type of pvp. Finally unlocking the weapon was an interesting feeling, I felt like I went on a long adventure and had to really work for it. Before unlocking Thorn I actually mostly used Scout Rifles but after getting used to my new Hand Canon I've continued to use Hand Canon's the most in Destiny 2.

It's sad when you realize how much more interesting Joe Staten's vision of Destiny 1's story was going to be. The fact that Traveller was originally going to be an antagonist is really cool and a neat twist. It basically would give all these races Golden Ages and then slowly destroy them through it's influence. It just makes me so mad that Bungie thought that story was boring, yet the story we got is boring and doesn't explain anything about Destiny's universe.

My personal favorite space in terms of sound design and raw aesthetic is definitely the Moon. The surface of the Moon feels like its driven by the music and sounds of the above-ground enemies and the landscape points to a Hive civilization we don't fully understand. But when you go deeper into the Moon, underground, it becomes drastically more sinister. The dull lighting and sometimes claustrophobic, cave-like terrain gives way to a feeling of dread and uncertainty, even when not engaging enemies. The music quiets, and the atmospheric dirge of the tunnel systems feels like it's all you can hear. All this combines with the haunting ghosts of long-dead guardians floating in the open space, disappearing as you approach. The underground spaces on the Moon feel hollow and eerie, but not overwhelmingly so. The dark atmosphere makes the player perceive mere vacancy, as danger. Spectacular location, I'm a PvP primary player, but the Moon is special for me, I highly recommend cranking the sound and just exploring the Moon in its entirety, you can also disable hud as well for further emersion.

Honestly I feel as though destiny pvp has gotten worse and worse, whereas the pve has flucated between getting better and worse. In year one i played so much trials over the summer i can remember every nook and cranny of the destiny 1 maps with my eyes closed. And while the gameplay of year 1 was fantastic as it is now, taken king really showed how amazing destiny can be. Destiny 2 is honestly where the game died to me until beyond light came out. They took a game that was getting better and better and wiped the slate clean, adding tons of filler planets with uninteresting characters and removing all the amazing old content from the first game...but nowadays...i miss the red legion campaign... im unsure how a new player would see the game today. Does it have a story or does it just...drop you off after the tutorial now... expecting you to decide where to go and what to do...? Just to answer this, they don't need to wash the traveler, for the same reason they can't really build infrastructure on top of it: it is constantly radiating power, in such a way that repels matter, which is part of why it floats. It doesn't get dirty, because nothing can stick to it.

    *long read*
Destiny had my heart on release lmao. I begged my mom to let me play a rated T game (I was about 10), and I finally convinced her. It was a hard game, but this cool robot guy named cayde 6 made me laugh a lot in the beginning, so I dove deeper into the game. Flash forward 7 years, and I’ve sunk years worth of hours into the game. Such a dedication would make you think I’d eventually get bored and move on. But starting a new guardian and replaying d1 gives me the same butterflies I got when I first booted up. I’ve went days without sleeping trying to do raids, only stopping to shower, eat, and do my natural business. Yeah it was hard, but oh man… getting my first exotic made me lose my mind. Whisper of the worm made me curious about how many cool guns were really out there. Celestial nighthawk gave me new ammo to be a bit more useful in crota’s end. Zhalo supercell made me shred through enemies in crucible. And when trials came for the first time? I got my ass kicked at first, but after a while, I managed to go flawless and eventually carry (I lost my touch in d2, but that’s beyond the point). I truly couldn’t describe my feelings, the memories made, and the lessons I learned/changes I made in my life for self improvement. Destiny will always have a special place in my heart, and I will never forget the masterpiece that it is.

Destiny as a whole disappointed me at launch, and I have never really TRUELY enjoyed it since.
I tried D1 vanilla, Taken King, then I tried Forsaken up to Beyond Light, and as much as I feel the passion in this game, it doesn't emotionally connect me like Halo did.
Sure, Halo's story is simple, and its characters are simple, but there's something so emotional about its story (Up until Halo 5, i just pretend that game never happened) that gets me everytime, that Destiny just doesn't.
That and the fact that Bungie isn't the same Bungie that made the halo games. I fucken hate them now as a company.

I met some wonderful people, that I can't wait to play with again when Season 15 comes out when crossplay becomes "fully" implemented. Other moments in D1 would be getting powerful exotic drops like the Gjallarhorn and the Ice Breaker. Including the Fatebringer - some of my go to weapons back in Destiny. This video has in a way re-kindled the passion I had. Exciting times for Destiny 2 are approaching, more memories to make and some more things to kill.

  • @Zachattack1cub

I always love seeing people come into the Destiny community and seeing it for its full potential rather than the hatred and scandals that have plagued it even up through today. Before I recount my best experiences, I would like to say I'm no longer playing Destiny 2 as I don't support many of the business practices and decisions Bungie has made since Beyond Light (and honestly many incidents before Beyond Light were factors as well, such as the Fellwinter's Lie quest, Trials misfired re-launch, etc.) However I still hold the original Destiny, as well as Destiny 2 up through Forsaken, to a high regard. Without further adieu, enjoy my memories, LNG.
I first started playing Destiny after a new friend of mine back in middle school invited me over for his birthday party and showed off his new Xbox One, as well as a couple of the games he'd gotten with the console. One of which, was Destiny. I remember being in complete awe over the flashiness and gunplay of the game, as before then my experience with gunplay was basically the old Star Wars Battlefront games for PS2 and CoD on the Wii (I know it's an atrocious thought to think of playing CoD on a Wii, you do not need to remind me.) As soon as I was able, I got a 360 and Destiny, around the time between the Dark Below DLC (the first one) and House of Wolves DLC (second one.) My very first, and currently longest lasting, Xbox friendships were through Destiny, and the first couple months I did nothing but play Destiny after school. Looking back now, I can say with no small amount of embarrassment that I quickly got addicted to gaming from Destiny, but in my mind even now, I feel that's a testament to how well-made the game was.
I didn't have too many friends, slightly more than enough for a raid team was all, but we were really close. My first ever raid, Vault of Glass, was the most memorable and impactful activity in my entire Destiny career to this day. From the deceptively simple mechanics, to the worldbuilding and lore, and the best loot in the game at the time, it was everything a casual player like me could ask for. We certainly took longer than the average raid race team to beat the raid, and it actually took multiple days to do so, but the feeling of satisfaction when we did it was like nothing any of us had ever experienced.
My first exotic was actually the final reward for my first ever raid clear as well. On my first clear of VoG, I got the Vex Mythoclast exotic fusion-auto rifle hybrid. I still have some old friends that up till Destiny 2's launch, hadn't gotten the Vex Mythoclast to drop for them, and they certainly hate me reminding them of my jacked newbie luck. Of course, as fate is always balanced in the world, my luck pretty much stopped after getting the Vex and Icebreaker as random drops. My most prized weapons as of this moment in D1 are those Year 1 weapons, as well as my Dragon's breath, Invective, Thorn and Last Word, half I bought from Xur throughout my D1 playtime and half were gruelingly earned from painful exotic quests.
Despite pretty much having everything I could want in D1, I still find myself regularly logging back in at times just to visit the social spaces, chat with other long-time veterans, and/ot convince one or two old friends to re-visit the game with me. One thing I've grown particularly fond of doing is taking friends I've made either prior to or after my D1 career, and introducing them to the world of Destiny through the complete first game. I actually bought the collector's edition for a couple of my oldest friends around a couple years back as graduation presents as a way to keep in touch with them after school, and I can certainly say it has helped keep our bonds strong throughout the short time we've been out in the real world for.
Destiny is a game that has had, and continues to have, many issues in development, business, and community connections. But it also has many strengths as well. Nearly all of what you'd presented are things I can agree make the Destiny worldbuilding, lore, and game as a whole be solidified in the hearts and minds of players as a good game, despite any flaws. I do get sad when thinking of the many controversies that have happened and continue to happen revolving an IP I used to be grossly addicted to, but my coping methods of re-visiting the classics of D1 helps a lot with that. I'm content to watch the growth of D2 from afar, as it's no longer a game that has the ability to cater to the extremely casual player such as myself, and I do wish Bungie continued success, so long as they don't burn the bridges between them and the community to achieve such successes.

Playing games the last 5 years or watching movies give me a demo/undeveloped vibe.
Destiny, Halo 5, Borderlands 3, Prey, etc. That come to the top of my mind. Like you play it and there's hints of something greater. Such galore and feats about soon to be unlocked in the next big scene.
Then the credits start rolling and that's it.
After some research and looking back at trailers you realize there's been staff and story changes. Content, Story, and features get removed.
So in the end you were advertised a better game just to buy what seems to be like an alpha or beta version. Just to get kicked in the jewels to realize "Nope this is it. You paid for this. Congrats me."
Months later games like Destiny or Borderlands will announce a new $$$ Dlc with what's that? Something that was hinted/advertised in the main game but got cut. Just for you to spend extra $$$ now that they think it's done enough to make you pay for it. Ah perfect just what I wanted from my $60 initial purchase. More mtx

I was a younger Halo fan. My older cousin got me into the series with the release of Reach, which we played for hours at a time. Whether it was the campaign or forge or various multiplayer mode. By the time Destiny was revealed I had played Halo 1-3 and was itching for more from Bungie.
Then Destiny 1 released and despite its shortcomings, I loved it. The story was a joke, but the lore immediately sucked me into the universe. The campaign was short and unfocused, yet the gameplay satisfied me. Exotics were a blast and I even tried getting into raiding, unsuccessfully with my terrible internet at the time.
It wasn't until The Dark Below launched that I was finally able to experience the Vault of Glass from beginning to end and I have to say, that was when the franchise had me hooked. I cannot begin to explain the countless hours I poured into my load-outs for both Crota's End and Vault of Glass encounter by encounter, honing my PvE skill. By the time House of Wolves came around, I was sherpaing people through the Level 35 PoE in pairs.
Ever since then I've played every single release of this game, which includes the current season. Despite gripes with what Eververse has become and its parasitic hold on the transmog system, I'm quite happy and hopeful for this franchise. Here's looking forward to Witch-Queen and many more years of punching the enemies of humanity into submission.
