Man o MAN!!! Been a looooong time since i had to read drywall prints. I'm like "yeah, oh YEAH, yep, i remember that, i forgot about that! Yep yep!!" Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Chris! God bless 😁
Thank you for bringing up the 'Issued for Construction' drawings. This seems to be one of our biggest challenges...making sure everyone is building off the most revised set. Additionally making sure the architect revises their title block to show the most current revision. Technology has both helped and hurt us with this hasn't it? This was a great overview...thanks Chris. - The Girl in the Hard Hat (GHH)
There’s so much to explain on this channel. 👍🏽 this vid is interesting to me because it’s inside info of how contractor / dry waller thinks. And needs to know. These are good drawing too ✍🏼 👍🏽 Well dome.
Awesome, thank you very much! Yes it is a lot to explain and trying to do it in the least amount of time as possible is tricky as you know! Very cool perspective that I haven't thought of before! You can always tell when a designer or engineer doesn't fully understand assemblies and methods and I always felt that there was a lot of distance between them and the field. With the advancements in BIM it is going to be so awesome - easy to get more information! Cheers!
What you need is to look at the architectural plans, find the wall, partition, ceiling, parapet, types. That info will give you the details of what type of drywall goes on each wall. Also the fire plan will also tell you how much 5/8" type x you will need. So to find the footage you need to first calculate the linear footage from the floor plans and then the heights come from the reflected ceiling plan. Pay attention, anything fire rated goes to underside of structure and those heights come from the building elevations. Hope that helps man!
You got me thinking ... this is so intricate. I wonder what the specs and schedules looked like with the Great Pyramid. There must have been at least stuff like this, but we have no evidence how they built them at all. The construction is a mystery to modern day engineers. No one could replicate this today. Ultimately, I think the information lies within the math, using proportions of Phi and Pi; it's written all over the structure. Plato knew what the hell was going on. Have you ever studied the Parthenon?
No I haven't. Interesting though. I wouldn't be surprised if we had more intelligent life before us or life from other worlds here. They left us here to grow like a Cheea pet! lol. There is a lot of stuff going on during these projects. Millions and sometimes billions of dollars, hundreds of contracts and so on. The drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, schedule all this stuff you need to know to be in management. The sooner you learn this stuff as a trades person the better. Thanks Scully!!
Nice! Making the guys jealous love it! Thanks for commenting! I will be working on that interview here over the next couple of days and will send you the outline ahead of time. I'm thinking maybe this Friday evening or next week either Mon, Thurs or Fri! Also whatever works for you!

Hey mate, how do you get the drywall footage for the drawing plans?

Great video. What software do you use for quantity take off. Thanks
Thank you! For software, I used to use bluebeam, nitro pdf, ms excel. Procore and Planswift.
Great vid, learned a lot, thank-you
Thanks man! Super glad you got something out of it!
Where do you usually find the drywall finish level?
In the reflected ceiling plan, or in the wall types will say finish 6" above ceiling height or something like that. If it's nowhere you need to ask.
Thank u 🙏
You are very welcome!
