- I always like to explore the Hotpot scene wherever I go, so in Saigon Vietnam, I went on a HOTPOT and BBQ tour ate at some local favorites.
Location 1: Lau de 304
This local hotpot place is awesome! The broth is DELICIOUS and the goat is not gamey at all. LOVED that goat leg as well.

I was told that I HAD to try some water buffalo while in Vietnam. The meat was leaner than beef and not as flavorful. The broth I loved but the bbq was a bit underwhelming.

Wish you had reached out to Sonny and do a collab vid with him when you were in Vietnam. He had the stingray hotpot ua-cam.com/video/E100ip3q47E/v-deo.html and also the lobster one in his lobster video (but he didn't show it since the lobster was 7 lbs and he was full). BTW, I cannot believe they eat the lemongrass like that...I've never seen that before as lemongrass is tough and should be minced if eaten. If it's used to enhance a broth, it can be left whole. Wow. LOL

Non-gamy goat = female goat or castrated billy. It's possible that the restaurant buys only nanny goats. Like pigs, male goats raised for slaughter should be snipped at a young age. The hormones make the meat gamey. Thanks for the video!

Vietnam is a must stop for any foodie traveler!! The variety in Vietnam is comparable to any major city in the world. Only difference is the price. Vietnam is easily the most affordable country to visit.
It is foodie heaven.

No 1 is Vietnamese food No 2 is Chinese food, i love Vietnamese Hotpot we usually have quails eggs with it.
I really love using the Water Spinach as a topping on general spicy rice dishes. I just roughly chop then stir fry with loads of garlic for like 30 seconds or so, as much as you would normal spinach, then whack on top and it adds a fantastic juicy flavourful extra dimension

When he said water buffalo I instantly thought of bison(or buffalo) I am native so I grew up eating it and yup it’s is so nummy. Also wonder if he has had elk or deer before. Both of those are really good too.
Watching you makes me look forward to trying foods next time I’m back in Vietnam. My mom has been to some of the places you’ve been and loved them too!

The passion fruit hotpot is called Canh Chua (sweet and sour soup) and is usually made with tamarind. I love it! we make it with fish.
anorc no canh chua is completely different than passion fruit. Passion fruit is a speciality at that restaurant. Flavor profile wise it’s a bit similar but canh chua is much more sour.

Totally missed the passion fruit hot pot at the Saigon Grill. Yet I must have visited Charlie at the Cuba la Casa del Mojito on the ground floor of the same building a dozen times. The Saigon Grill is a bit of a hidden gem with the touristy Nha Hang Ngon just across DUONG Pasteur.

We do have the Chinese hotpot it is everywhere in district 5 which is the Chinese district. Some places have over 100 types of seafood in fish tanks you can order to add into the hotpot.
