"You've seen the sun, *you died. You've been seen by a guy, *you died. Took too many candies from a bowl, *not death but oh boy will you wish you died!"
Exactly. I feel like a lot of these new recipes. Try to be something complex or big or paint a picture. This takes us back to some good old supernatural fun.
Beyond the creativity of presentation, it's also great from a Paleontological perspective. All of the discovered species are twists on actual extinct species with cool speculative evolution ideas.
That also makes some parts even cooler, e.g. the Tea Lily isn't a plant but an animal that's taken up a plant's role. Crinoids are relatives of starfish.
The Dig is one of the best point and click adventure games of all time, I kept thinking of it during this S.C.P. so hearing you mention it at the end was very cool.
I still think the Myst series beats it out, but only unless you break it up into sub-categories and are going for a more sci-fi/action angle as supposed to pure puzzle solving.
It definitely depends on what the player is looking for. Both do a phenomenal job of showing what different designs of a point-and-click game can do. Obsidian is one of my own favorites, a "Myst clone" at its core but a perfect mix of puzzle, storyline, and uniqueness.
You just earned Lucas Arts a Steam Purchase Thank you. Any other great point and click games you recommend? Also, idk, maybe an email address or reddit name to further compare notes, SCP & Point & Click? Say obscure niche without saying obscure niche my friend. Thanks again.
Huh. Y’know, despite the possible “bad endings” this one was…refreshingly mundane from a story perspective. Love the presentation, and honestly love the “yea sometimes anomalies aren’t world ending or catastrophic, sometimes they’re just *there*.” Vibe of it all.
I feel like alleviating boredom by attracting progressively larger predators into your camp doesn't seem like a wise idea, especially when a body has already vanished 😂
I love how simple this article is. In other SCP tales, u hear researchers talk about how mundane their day to day work is JUST before an apocalypse but this experience kinda sells to me the idea that it's not all drama all the time. Sometimes, they have to just sit around and look at stuff until help comes.
I think what makes this memorable is that - at least in the first ending - she actually survives, learns some new things and the SCP ISN'T the end of the world
I think the canon is the researcher did survive. While there a number of article with why is this guy even hired, we would not be getting anything contain if every personnel is like that.
This reads almost exactly like a Warren Fahy novel, with a cave full of unknown creatures that have created their own biome over hundreds of millions of years.
The SCP universe is actually a pretty good fit for adventure games. Anomalies are inherently puzzly in nature, there's always something that has to be "solved", and there's a lot of story that can be delivered through dialogue or documents in a way that doesn't feel forced.
I like the skip and the point/click format. But what really excites me are all the amazing creatures in this story. The tea lilies are actually a species of crinoid, not plant at all. And a terrestrial radiodont is amazing. I want to know everything about this ecosystem! Conodonts and euryptids and trilobites, oh my!
Wooo one of my favorite "recent" scps. Found it on the "recent highly rated" section a while back, played through it, just about had a manic fit when I realized what the animals were.
Hey man. This shit will be lost in the flood of comments you get. I just want to take the time to recognize how much work you put up into this. The lovecraft readings. Your ability to keep Audiences interested. You’re a GOAT at this point. It’s just a matter of time until you’re a major name in the SCP community, I already know several people who mention your audibles as sources
Who needs SCP video games when we have SCPs that *are* video games? But seriously, to all the authors and fans who make this sort of stuff, keep up the good work.
Technically this would count as an “SCP video game” (except it’s posted On the wiki site instead of being About SCPs on the site), since “SCPs that ARE video games” could include things like “When The Imposter Is Sus”.
Please don’t stop making SCP content. Your other content is good and I listen to support you but I’m a little obsessed with your SCP content 😅 No other channel comes close to you, in my opinion. And believe me, I know because I’ve tried them ALL. Well maybe not all but a lot!
It's technically "interactive" per the interactive tag connected to the article "Game" SCPs feature any SCP that is, activates or is a part of a game. Physical or Digital
Was somehow expecting the Halo games' Flood. Ah, this vid takes one back to that Chrono Trigger series of vids. 6:29: Inspecting via drinking is just hazardous. Hmm, pillbugs. Getting The Emperor's New Groove vibes from there. Haven't I seen sea scorpions in Walking with Monsters? Can't believe TES got the better ending seemingly on first try. Living without water for 3 days can be tricksy, hence that ending. Moral: Don't get in too deep on Hammerspace or a time slip. Addendum: Noice, The Dig gets a nod.
With all the pixilated horror games out there, i was fully expecting something gruesome to happen (apart from the dead dude with a crushed head disappearing without a trace).
Reminds me of the old *Infocom Games* as in their *Zork Series* of I, II, & IIV that were all texted based where you'd needed to use them to unlock the puzzles, ie *Light* the candle, *Read* the book, *Ring* the bell. _You've unlocked the door_ ... You first needed to find the items in the area around you to be able to open the locked door... finding one part needed in a hollow of an old oak tree, etc. ...and if you didn't use them in the right order a gust of wind would blow out your candle stopping you from reading the book. A good thing about the games is that you could get away with playing them in school or work since they were all text based they had not graphics. And I'd bet they're public domain, because of their age of over 50 years. And yes if you see them they'd still be worth playing if you like to read and solve puzzles. Or was it ring the bell, then read the book last?
I wonder if the spacial anomaly is also temporally anomalous. The "new" species being discovered are actually ecolved versions of the older, already discovered ones.
Oh hey I know who wrote this! This was a gift I made for Guaire in 2023 for the Secret Santa art exchange on the wiki. Thanks for covering it! Also, there's no real "true" ending, they're all equally valid. Whichever you get first is canon.
Maybe the game is the scp, the anomalous space eating at our doctor. Giving options and choices to keep her trapped in this simplistic illusion. A sentient parasitic algie
where the flood couldn't reach. probably a reference to the biblical flood and or the many other similar floods in religion ( weird that there are so many versions of a cleansing flood )
Now here's a story that tuned out to be a lot of nothing. Which was a lot of something. For once, it was not about the anamoly being the main focus. In fact we really don't know what it is Could Ordovician creatures live in today's world,? What was the air like then? Could someone from today live in the Ordovician? Would creatures from the Ordivician find modern poisonous or even palatable and vice-versa?
Just existing in the SCP universe is a survival situation.
"You've seen the sun, *you died. You've been seen by a guy, *you died. Took too many candies from a bowl, *not death but oh boy will you wish you died!"

In video game 😅
Those are some of the best.
Did you change your name?(I mostly listen on Spotify ,so haven't seen you in a while)

That also makes some parts even cooler, e.g. the Tea Lily isn't a plant but an animal that's taken up a plant's role. Crinoids are relatives of starfish.
Yeah. It was so interesting to see it stick to some real grounded speculative biology. So cool to see

The Dig is excellent, it's a shame that so many people dislike it just because it hasn't got the jokes of Monkey Island or Indiana Jones.
You just earned Lucas Arts a Steam Purchase

Exactly. It’s really stupid and feels like a teen drama rather than a proper SCP article.
I love how simple this article is. In other SCP tales, u hear researchers talk about how mundane their day to day work is JUST before an apocalypse but this experience kinda sells to me the idea that it's not all drama all the time. Honestly, the way this one is presented goes WAY far into making it one of my favorites ever. So well done, and I have to applaud IronShears.
Little note, the "Tea Lily" is a crinoid, a type of deep-sea animal, not a plant.
I think what makes this memorable is that - at least in the first ending - she actually survives, learns some new things and the SCP ISN'T the end of the world
Ah, awake at such a terrible time, but blessed with an ExS video.
Ahhh yes! The good old Oregon trail type of SCP. Love it+
I have been litteraly looking for this scp article for so long I never got to finish the gane when I first came across it
I really like SCPs that are games. Makes me nostalgic for the free companion games you could download for Cat Ghost, they were really creepy.
I think the canon is the researcher did survive. While there a number of article with why is this guy even hired, we would not be getting anything contain if every personnel is like that.
Been a while since I looked into the SCP wiki. When I checked this SCP out, I wasn't expecting a cool browser game.
What a wonderful way to do an SCP article
This reads almost exactly like a Warren Fahy novel, with a cave full of unknown creatures that have created their own biome over hundreds of millions of years.

Loving the scp animation, hits right in the nostalgia. Wish people uploaded media from the scp wiki more
When you think the Halo flood is in the scp franchise.
More like when you think the next kaktusverse article is out
That would be next level horror
I wonder if there have been any based on the flood. i felt like "the flesh that hates" was pretty similar
Wooo one of my favorite "recent" scps.
Found it on the "recent highly rated" section a while back, played through it, just about had a manic fit when I realized what the animals were.
I love the presentation video for this. It really added some depth and flavor to it. Showing all the animals.
