The only cab sim I've ever found useful is the one in the radial JDX amp direct box. You place it between your amp and cab and it sends a cab sim to the board. I have recordings from 2007 that still Hold up using that thing.
I agree that the stock IRs definitely have a soft attack, but if you’re using this just for direct recording, and already have the Wall of Sound plugin with some quality DynIRs and third party IRs, I can see this being a very useful piece of gear. $400 for an all analog modeler with a tube preamp section is actually cheaper than I expected it to be.
My (admittedly cynical) guess is that no IR loader was included because they'd like you to use their dedicated IR loader (e.g., Captor X, C.A.B. M+), thereby purchasing two products.
You don’t need the CAB M, that would allow you to keep everything in pedal format though. You can use (free) wall of sound plugin in your daw, and load IR’s through your daw that way, but yeah those IR’s cost money but honestly a lot of them are very reasonably priced imo. Taking the jump in April.
@@benjaminck6768 True enough. That's why I wrote, "they'd [LIKE] you to use their dedicated IR loader." Again, it's cynical on my part, but it is how businesses, well, do business. But, yes, you are correct on both accounts.
Hi Guys, Ross from Two notes here! Just to clarify, Captor X cant be used with ReVolt unless you have a separate power amp you are feeding ReVolt into. The C.A.B. M+ is a good partnering, however we have tested ReVolt with a myriad of other IR loader products and it works well. To actually incorporate our DynIR technology is not a simple as it may seem and would have pushed not only the footprint of the product up, but the all-important price as well. Similarly, we wanted to make a product that was 100% analogue in signal path and putting DynIR in this would have stood in contrast to this. If you have any questions, let me know!
Well I'd never use the IR anyway so it's not a weak point. This ReVolt was always going to sound best run thru a tube power amp (like Fryette Power Station) and REAL cabs. If that's what Tones Wars does in his patrion video he should have uploaded that one to youtube and ditched this one :) Also the alleged Plexi tone he dialed in had far too much gain applied for any Plexi. They were light overdrive amps. He's dialed in a modern hot rodded Marshall tone and then stacking in another OD pedal makes no sense to me if you want a Marshall tone. Appears the only thing he can play is chuggy metal riffs :)
I agree. I wish he would play more "praise and worship" and "radio rock" type stuff so we can figure out if the gear sounds good or not. I play praise and worship and would never do a video like this. And who sticks OD pedals in front of a high gain amp? That is a sure fire way to just ruin your tone. Why buy good gear if you are just going to ruin it with high gain "Metallica" type riffs.
Nah he does a great job demo'ing the gear, he doesn't just chug but that's how you dial in tones, you see what the chug sounds like and make sure it's tight and not flubby, then you go from there. He shows the difference an IR makes at the end of the video. Also Metallica used modded marshalls on the first 5 albums, they do chug when boosted obviously. He's a metal guitarist, not a classic rock, plenty of other channels do the classic rock thing if you're into that.
@@mattvdh Matt - that only works if all you play is chuggy metal. No good for anything else hehehe. So there was no point trying to get a Plexi channel to sound like a Rectifier :) If he's only a metal player just review the Soldano channel and be done with it
Playing thru real cab and tube power amp is like grabbing real boobs. it can be imitated but it won't feel is the same. the real thing is more enjoyable.
Hi Guys, Ross from Two notes here. We designed ReVolt to be as adaptive tonally as possible. At Two notes HQ we all have different tastes from Black Metal all the way through to country and we have tested it for all these scenarios. For the heavier side of things, we frontloaded ReVolt with a number of drive pedals with good results!
The concept is a lot more exciting than how it sounds unfortunately. It's kind of blocky in the mid range and digital sounding. I love the torpedo but this is a bit of a cash grab for not incorporating the same technology which allows you to switch between IR's.
I'll save you guys some time so you don't have to spend 10 bucks on stupid shit.. he prob connects his Two Tone to the return input of one of his amps and uses the power amp of those amps with the preamp of the pedal. you're welcome.

It should be said that the flashing of the tube is due to the frame rate of the camera, and does not happen when you're in the room with it.
I can confirm that is correct! :)

Ross from Two notes here! Thanks for weighing in! We actually include Wall of Sound and 10 DynIRs to get you started with a purchase of ReVolt.
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes Awesome! I’m still very intrigued by the product nonetheless.

I’m glad you struggled too 🤣 I had like ten takes just saying hi this the two notes revolt 😂
Lol Every time I hit record, I forget how to say words.
If I buy this, can I plug it straight to my computer and record the amp sounds in my daw? Or would I need a IRloader.

The tone is too abrasive, that glanky metal sound isn’t my deal. But I look forward to hearing the next video with new IR and additional pedals
The video is available in my Patreon. There's a huge difference with different IR's and od pedals
Attack is too spongy for my taste
