That's why I immediately lost interest because the platform itself doesn't support impulse responses. So either they are stupid or they just want you to buy more stuff from them.
2 Notes is great, they make great stuff. Price wise it's not too bad...wish they used noiseless foot switches though. Get with the times guys! I was doing some recording once, and I had to switch something, can't remember what it was now it's been so long, and that loud click actually got picked up on the recording. So I had to scratch the track and do it over with my pedals as far from any mics as possible. Noiseless switches would have made that a lot easier!
I've been watching videos on this and the Simplifier, Quilter Superblock, etc. and so far this one sounds the best to me overall. But yes, a comparison video would be helpful.
I was so pumped once I saw (and heard!) the first few minutes, especially after the time it took for Two Notes to bring out an updated alternative to the Le Preamp series (I personally own the Le Crunch), that suits the need of the modern guitarist. I'm left quite disappointed, however, since the one thing they should've added was customizability of the DI OUT Sim, but they didn't. Why shouldn't we be able to pick an IR different than the one that's included in the analog box of the pedal stock? They already include 10 great free cab sims, why can't I just plug the ReVolt into my laptop and be able to select another cab for my gig that potentially suits me better and save it in. I get that they want you to buy the additional CAB M pedal and their other products, but holy hell, it's been so long and the feature that was most requested didn't make it once again. If the selling point is that you can choose different cabs for recording in the studio and have some flexibility there I then say, I'm sorry there are far better solutions out there (Neural DSP, Amplitube, STL Tones just to name a few) to recording straight in. This couldn've really attracted many customers who would love flexibility for their live sound just from that one box. Big L in my eyes, unfortunately...
Hi Chris, Ross from Two notes here. Our aim with ReVolt was to provide an all analog solution for a stellar foundation tone, all housed in a simple to use format. Adding DynIR into the fold would have resulted in not only a considerably larger unit, but we felt it would detract from the all-analog mission statement we set out with. There are plenty of IR loaders out there - including our C.A.B. M+ - and we feel the assortment of inputs and outputs makes this the perfect solution to integrate into any hardware configuration. If you have any questions, dont hesitate to reach out!
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes hey Ross! Totally appreciate your response! Yeah after I thought about it for some time I see that point from your side as product developers. Can literally see the LED flickering behind the tube in the opening part (from the vid framerate) meaning it's not the tube glow, so guessing it's running at low voltage at least? Probs still really working and sounds fantastic!
That’s ‘flickering’ which is what happens with all light sources when you’re using high FPS (frames per second). The tube by human eye does not flicker and operates at 200v.
@@JustinBryantdotcom Tube glow doesn't flicker cos it's a steady light unlike LED or florescent that actually does you just can't see it. Look it up :)
@@JustinBryantdotcom yea I know we can't see it, that's not what I'm saying. Just saying the glow is from an LED not the tube itself and obvious when the camera frame rate plays with the pulsing light.
There is indeed a led behind the tube, lighting up in amber when the pedal is on , and off when the pedal is in bypass. it also changes color when the boost is engaged. That has nothing to do with the tube not being fed the correct voltage. Tubes require 6,3v to "light up" (heater voltage) a the heater glow is not even noticeable except in complete darkness. In that unit the tube is running at 200v plate voltage
Hey lads, just wondered if you could do a video running this pedal using the 4 cable method into some amps? Amps like Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or any of the bog-standard Blackstar amps. Just a thought.
Great review! Are there Multichannel preamp Alternatives that you can run in 4CM that could compete with this unit soundwise!? Im looking to enhance my amp, any suggestions that would help me much, thx
good evening, I have a question to ask you, from the revolt-cab M+ connection go to the sound card and we listen to this, right? while you in the room how do you listen? what is the connection from the toredo cab m?
On the channels: American Clean, and British Crunch, are self explanatory, but the Modern Lead channel is less so. AFAIK, the Lead channel is based on a Soldano, so this video has quite a bit of an inception vibe going on.
Ross from Two notes here. There is one analogue Cab Sim in the unit, however we also include Wall of Sound software and a collection of 10 DynIRs so you can explore more tonal possibilities in a studio setting!
Assuming this would work directly into a power amp? Just got a fryette PS100 to use as an attenuator and DI with some louder heads… but am thinking a preamp like this or the victory V4s + the ps100 = awesomeness for both live rig and DI for the studio. Any reason this ‘revolt’ or the V4 preamps (not the new ones with the hybrid power section) wouldn’t work?
Ok guys, I've been admiring the blue Strat (w tortise pickguard?) that's in the rack behind The Captain's rt shoulder? Is it a keeper? I'm in Pasadena, Ca. Talk to me?
1 of the definitions from the Oxford English Dictionary. More than I thought as I'd have agreed despite hearing it both ways. 1. A complete overthrow of the established government in any country or state by those who were previously subject to it; a forcible substitution of a new ruler or form of government.
Thanks for the video! I have a TN Torpedo - which I love - but his time I am somewhat underwhelmed - don't like the mid response I heard. Might have been the guitar though... Never liked the sound of PRS's.
Seems like an interesting product, but it's mono only, which is a dealbreaker for me. I've played a stereo rig for 33 years, and I won't be switching to mono. My current pedalboard uses the DSM & Humboldt Electronics Simplifer, and it does everything I require.
@@JustinBryantdotcom Well yes, because of the tube, but the DSM Humboldt is also 100% analog and sounds just as good imao. But I guess it's a matter preference and choice.
I own LeClean, and it's a wonderful clean guitar sounds maker. It sounds terrific. I made an ampless rig (pedalboard) based on that. But... how about a tube driven channel? Bying LeCrunch, LeLead? That would be cool all-purpose machine! But now - we have one pedal, that does the major things of the three Le() preamps. Beautiful! Now I ask - what are all the all-in-one digitall guitar processors sayin "Citrus", "Treadplate" on its screens? Are all the names that important? Isn't it all abot the sound? allAll the best amp guitar sounds are here!
Ross from Two notes here! Our intention with ReVolt was to provide a core analogue basis for foundation tone. With the FX loop and Line outs, we feel we have given plenty of options to add your own FX into the ReVolt architecture - we also made sure we tested it with as many pedals as possible so the resultant sound is top notch! :)
That was my first thought too because the Quilter Superblocks have reverb. But...with these types of devices it is impossible to get everything one would want, plus so far this is the best-sounding device of it's type that I've heard. I've been checking different ones out through these videos.
So what seems to benthe advantage of this unit vs mic ing an amp cab? If you're going to play live and send the signal to the board and play the amp on stage.... even in the studio you can just mic the cab to record. I kinda get using this unit to replace an amp on stage going trough a PA but there are modelers that are more versitile especially with Cab IR uploads. I'm thinking of Valeton GP200 for example. $500 and $350 for the GP200LT which has the same options except no XLR out and expression pedal and quick amp control knobs.
@@stevenarseneault1972 Ross from Two notes here! The main advantage is you would negate the need for setting up mics and cabs - essentially allowing you to run a silent state or a fuss-free recording session. Our thought process with the ReVolt Series was to provide a simple interface to dial in a great tone in a snap. In terms of the saturation, which channel are you referring to?
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes Channel 2 and 3 or crunch and distortion tend to compress the tips of the waves when trying to get an agressive tone. I get the limitations in a single preamp tube configuration. To me, and this can be subjective, the available headroom on a distorted signal is quite important. I've notice that the low end is not as present as a high gain amp. Perhaps an EQ pedal can help but it would be best coming from the unit. It works good. To me, if it's trying ro replace an amp it needs to be both flexible and somewhat accurate to accomodate each player as they tend to chose a few tones and stick with them. IR cabs in floor units is popular for this reason. Perhaps something for a future revision? Build in uploadable cab IR electronics. I do see potential in your unit. You'll probably do well however, I was trying to understand how your unit would do better than most emulator floorboards as it seems to sound best plugged in the return line of an effects loop on an actual amp. But them again, that is the job of a pre-amp on that same amp. I did use a microphone pre-amp with a single tube in it in the effect return of my amp and I could drive the tube and add gain with the controls. The only reason I did that is because my amp does not have a clean channel and it gave me access to have a clean channel on demand that worked beautifully.
@@stevenarseneault1972 Thanks for getting back to me and expanding on this! This may be a factor of the nefarious UA-cam video compression you are hearing as we have worked hard to retain the dynamics of the signal as a faithful recreation of the amps our channels are inspired by. Please note that by its very nature, drive and distortion effectively clip a given signal so there will always be some squaring of the waves. In terms of the EQ, there is a 3-band EQ available for Channel 3 on the unit to bump up the lows but you can for sure add another EQ pedal to the mix. In terms of IR / DynIR integration, our thought process with ReVolt was to provide an all-analog (bar MIDI) signal chain to build a stellar foundation tone. Adding IR / DynIR into the mix would have stood against this unfortunately and we have a great solution with our C.A.B. M+ if users want to add this functionality to their ReVolt. Regardless, your feedback is massively important to us and I have relayed this to the team now for their consideration! Thanks so much for this!
Dang, I still don’t understand these rigs. I’m gonna stick with amp, cable and guitar. They seem to be made to simplify things, but then you need an amp, more cables, cab sim, DI box and XLR cables and…the pre-amp unit also. To each their own I say. If it’s your thing rock on! They sound good all said and done.
I'm totally overwhelmed and confused by all the new tech BUT I'm still looking at videos and trying to figure at least SOME of it out. Because my goal is to eventually find a good portable amp that I can also record with. But until that time, I'm sticking with my solid state amps and pedals. Gotta say that at least this one sounds good - many of the DSP digital products that people seem to love sound awful to me.
You could also pair it with something like a Horizon Apex so you can have everything for clean to Djent on the one pedalboard.. Seriously, Ive ordered these two pedals and am looking for something like a Marshall valvestate poweramp to power everything as we know the preamp part of the amp is what gives the 'tube' sound anyway. I've sold my tube amps, and won't be buying any more!
Great playing and this sounds nice! It looks like the put the Le Preamps in simplified versions all into one box. I recently tried the Le Clean and even with just the analog cab sim, it sounds fantastic!
Ross from Two notes here. Although we took some lessons from our LE-Series, the ReVolt has been engineered and voiced from the ground up! Let us know if there is anything we can help to clarify!
One of your better videos guys. I don't agree with you Anderton guys that the 4 cable method is the best way to use ReVolt with a high quality tube amp like a Soldano, Mesa or Marshall. As great as the ReVolt might be we shouldn't expect a $399 preamp pedal to compete with the tones from any of these amps. I certainly don't expect it too. So if you added it to your Mesa or Soldano preamps the drop in quality would be instant and you just wouldn't use it. 4 cable method is viable though used with an SS amp that has a loop.
Can you guys demo the bass version too? Jfc, two-notes own demo was useless, they really uploaded one for the sake of it. I'd rather have players demo it. This product is something I've been looking for a while now. But it's not available in my country for me to demo it.

Once again, Andertons, ( a Retail Outlet and fine purveyor of all things musical) leaves out what they used to to power up the pedals? (and no, the quick passing of the word Fender does not count as advertisement of their power brick, as it wasn't shown nor talked about in the video. Probably not a very good power supply not to get a mention then huh? ;)
Just to be clear, I'm not a "tube purist" and will probably try this pedal as an ampless solution. But just to confirm what is the role of the tube in this pedal

It is noiseless footswitches on this unit.
@@teogeorget7425 Didn't sound like it when they pressed them, they were quite loud. How could you not hear the click?
Like on Electro-Harmonix? That absurd click? lol.
I'd be curious to see a shootout between this and the DSM simplifier, and maybe other products in roughly the same price range.
I'm just waiting for this to make my choice between both products !
I've been watching videos on this and the Simplifier, Quilter Superblock, etc. and so far this one sounds the best to me overall. But yes, a comparison video would be helpful.
@Nauthizful did you make a choice?
Pete’s kicks are 🔥
That thing sounds killer.
Something in between would’ve been great though, maybe I’m still thinking a bit too much from the customer side. Of course I still need to hear the cab sim in person to decide for myself if I like it enough to live with it in all sounds or not. That’s just my initial reaction though, I hope you take it as constructive criticism and not in any negative way, sorry if it sounded a little emotional. Looking forward to seeing what you guys bring to the table next and hey, who knows, I might like it after all! Cheers!

@@clintwhite3021 if you see one of these with the human eye - there is no flicker
That tone is uuuumphhh.
@OfficialAndertonsMusicCo Lol this scam is old school. Come up with new stuff. Everyone knows about it.
Hey lads, just wondered if you could do a video running this pedal using the 4 cable method into some amps? Amps like Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or any of the bog-standard Blackstar amps. Just a thought.
Sounds very raspy with the built in cab emulator
Mastodon riff. Nice.
THIS THING SOUNDS KILLER!
Captain oh Captan why didn't you use a telly or a strat on the clean side 😥
On the channels: American Clean, and British Crunch, are self explanatory, but the Modern Lead channel is less so.
AFAIK, the Lead channel is based on a Soldano, so this video has quite a bit of an inception vibe going on.
this thing sounds juicy but i think in some few instances It sounds a bit thin and flubby but veeery few instances
It does have a warmer sound in general than similar devices. It's not perfect but I like the warmer (tube) tones.
I'm not sure I'll need all that in my living room 🤣🤣🤣
Sounds really good.
Pete killin' it.
Hi! do you know if we can we use it to reamp our dry DI signals?
so how many cab sims are available in this unit? would be a good idea in use with a distortion pedal like a Diezel Vh4?
Ross from Two notes here. There is one analogue Cab Sim in the unit, however we also include Wall of Sound software and a collection of 10 DynIRs so you can explore more tonal possibilities in a studio setting!
The preamp sounds really good. I was stunned that Two Notes is a french company. Amazing. French Clean, French Crunch and French Lead comes to mind.
Ross from Two notes here! We are indeed French! Glad you like the tone of our all-new ReVolt Guitar!
Assuming this would work directly into a power amp? Just got a fryette PS100 to use as an attenuator and DI with some louder heads… but am thinking a preamp like this or the victory V4s + the ps100 = awesomeness for both live rig and DI for the studio. Any reason this ‘revolt’ or the V4 preamps (not the new ones with the hybrid power section) wouldn’t work?
if i got this pedal.. would you advise getting a cab sim pedal as well.....?? I'm new to all this,,,
Is it possible to incorporate 4CM and CAB M simultaneously
???
ney guys, nice setup for 4CM But the output of the strymon flint where to go?
Revolt does control other midi pedals. There's a video where each channel controls an H9
Ross from Two notes here! It can indeed - we have comprehensive MIDI mapping functionality available in both the Guitar and Bass variants!
Ok guys, I've been admiring the blue Strat (w tortise pickguard?) that's in the rack behind The Captain's rt shoulder? Is it a keeper? I'm in Pasadena, Ca. Talk to me?

Thanks for the video! I have a TN Torpedo - which I love - but his time I am somewhat underwhelmed - don't like the mid response I heard. Might have been the guitar though... Never liked the sound of PRS's.
Seems like an interesting product, but it's mono only, which is a dealbreaker for me. I've played a stereo rig for 33 years, and I won't be switching to mono. My current pedalboard uses the DSM & Humboldt Electronics Simplifer, and it does everything I require.
Can the Revolt be used with the Torpedo Captor X?
I do wonder if the tiny tube is there just to persuade tube purists to buy it also. I mean is that little thing really ging to make a difference?
Well, it is the same tube like in the preamps of like every single amp. So. I think it should sound better than a digital emulation of a preamp.
Changing the tube does make a différence. ;) Also the entire product runs on high voltage which brings something even for the solid state part of it.
yes
Tube purists who use solid state pedals are posers anyway. They should use this.
I had the predecessor (le crunch preamp) and didnt like it at all. Strymon Iridium was more my thing for home recording
please do a shootsout with the sansamp gt2 - seems like a similar set of amer/brit/MB tones on tap
A flyrig would also compete with this.
Many competitors offer stereo ins/outs without compromising the sound for the same price.
It's 100% an analog tube preamp- none are stereo,
@@JustinBryantdotcom Well yes, because of the tube, but the DSM Humboldt is also 100% analog and sounds just as good imao. But I guess it's a matter preference and choice.
Uping the licks game from the usual blues.
Captain patch cable and twinkle fingers conjure up a storm. 😂👍👍👍🥃Respect to you fellas.
How does it take drive pedals?
I cannot believe they didn’t include even a basic reverb in the unit.
@@mr.d.572 Thanks so much for the kind words! Really appreciate it!
Am I seeing that right? Is that the 30 watt Soldano head hitting 100 db? What am I missing here?
When you do a comparison, please, include the Simplifier.
Sounds bloody good to me.
I hate the week of Xmas cause all the UA-camrs take vacation. Welcome back.
Also, the Revolt saturates too easilly compressing the distorted signal.
I want to win that victory preamp! I am subbed!
Pete likes it!
Everytime I see something like this I have to ask, Why this and not a hx stomp?
M1D1 rides again!
It looks like the cab simulator in ReVolt doesn't have enough dynamic range.
PLEASE DO THE BASS VERSION (thanks)
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes hey thanks for clarifying! I did enjoy the Le Clean a lot so I’m pretty sure the Revolt is top notch!
But it's not available in my country for me to demo it.
nothing is better than the original "Thomas Blug" Amp1 and at the end of 2023 comes AmpX

Be realistic. You don't need a drive tone from the clean channel, if you have crunch and lead channnels.
The video title calls it an amp in a box but at 8:14 Lee states categorically that it isn't an amp. Very confusing.
"Amp in a box" is a term used for pedals that can be used as pre-amps, usually simulating an amplifier, but they don't have a power section, hence they are not "Amps".
@@brunodefreitas So an amp in a box is an amp sim or a pre-amp unless it is an amp in a box like a Blackstar Amped 1, which is an amp... in a box. All clear now!
