Woodturning - Nobody Thought It Would Be As Good As The Original!

- The original Cherry graft video is my most popular of all time. I had a few of them left and thought now was a good time to use another one. Check out the original video here: • Woodturning - Cherry R...
This cherry graft has been sanded to 10000 grit and finished with Danish Oil, Sanding sealer, and wood wax.
Let me know what you think, and if you prefer this one to the original.

My videos are for entertainment purposes only. Some of my techniques might not be the "best" or safest, so when using any tool or machinery always read and understand safety/manufacturers guidelines first.
And Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practice. The gloves I wear are tight-fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT copy my actions if you feel unsafe doing so. - Навчання та стиль
Is this the first video of mine you're watching? Will you subscribe to see more? 😁👍
I am subscribed. I have been watching your videos for some time. I just do not comment very often.

What is it?
Yep, first video! I am so impressed!

I am 57 and I get the privilege of taking care of my mom in her 80s. She had never seen anything like this before. It was fun watching her stand there mesmerized, and when it got the end and she saw the end result, she exclaimed, "Oh WOW" with the look of a little kid that made an exciting discovery. Thank you for giving us that moment.
A lovely shared experience thanks for sharing David 👍
Your work is beautiful, absolutely amazing!
Very Beautiful exciting work! Spectacular piece!
My sister and her husband take care of my mom
Thank you for sharing that story, David!
I hope you and your Mom are doing well!
I never subscribe to channels but I love watching wood get conditioned and come out all shiny! I have a weird obsession with wood!! Good job! I could watch this all day!
There is just something truly special and beautiful about a woman who is so passionate about wood and knowledgeable in the various techniques used to achieve the most desirable oUtCoMe.
When I see videos like this my Cherry tree starts to worry about it's limbs!
😂😅😂😊
So…don’t show it these videos!
@@josephinebennington7247 It's not the video - it's the strange look that comes over me, -that and the chainsaw!
@@lucianosalt2396 😈. Ha!
Hahaha very funny Luciano! Cherry wood does look spectacular, maybe it requires some pruning? 😁👍
This brings me back to my old HS days making bowls in woodshop. Much respect to my woodshop teacher Mr. Greske. He taught me to appreciate woodworking. Great Job and technique on this woodworking. It definitely takes patience and time but when you finished it timeless.
Having contact in this way with part of mother nature creation is a breath taken, and this kind of Arte is a Gift.!! 🙏😌
God Blessed 🙏🌏🌎🌍❤️
Very cool!!
Love the raw edge from where the bark was, so much character.

Lots of patience, creativity and hard work.... amazing and awesome.Thank you for sharing.🙏
Very very beautiful work you do SIR LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS GOD BLESS
That cherry graft was screaming out to be what it ended up being. Another classic piece of craftmanship, thanks.

@@HarrySmithWoodturning After looking back at the original I would say that my preference would be the latest one, I feel it has more character but that is very subjective, everyone has a different perspective on artistic work which is a good thing. If we all liked the same things in life it could be very boring, they say that variety is the spice of life, let us keep it that way. Keep up the good work Harry.👍
The other vase that you turned in 2021 is just as beautiful as this one. I love them both!! ❤❤
Harry, wow what a fantastic piece it turned out amazing such beautiful colouring in that wood just brilliant well done
Though I'm not a big fan of natural edge finishes, this is a very beautiful piece. You are an artist as well as a craftsman. Thank you for sharing this video.
Now that's a real piece of art! Thank you so much!
That is absolutely exquisite! Thank you so much for sharing this!
Like this comment if you prefer the Cherry Graft Vase in this video! 👍
Another beautiful piece of workmanship
Hi Harry awesome video the wood is magnificent it has lovely grain and markings. You really are a talented woodturner, I like how you put alot of your energy and imagination into your pieces that you make and this is no exception. What a fantastic vase. Cant wait for your next video. Take care Amanda from Scotland in the Uk xx
For once I actually correctly guessed what the finished piece would be. Beautiful work Harry.

I have watched many videos on turning wood. T his video sir has inspired me to turn Wood as well as sculpt Wood. bravo 👏 and this is my first time watching you work👍
I was admiring that wood-turning machine you have. It's so efficient and probably very expensive.
Yes they are!
I bought something like that from a yard sale not too long ago, except it was more of a bowl. After watching this video and seeing the process it takes to make one, I now have an appreciation for my wooden bowl.
So beautiful, you have an amazing talent you can see what the wood is showing you in what it needs to be. Beautiful beautiful work.
The sheer beauty of wood ~sigh~ Thanks Harry
I live in an apartment so I woodturn vicariously through you. This is an amazing creation. I really appreciate the cinematography when you timed the speed such that it looked like the log was turning very slowly. This is inspiring to watch!
Fun fact: the stroboscopic effect can be extremely dangerous in settings where heavy spinning machinery is being used. To counteract the stoboscopic effect created by flickering light sources (florescent light fixtures, for example) the bulbs of the fixture, or the fixtures side by side, may need to be split to separate phases to eliminate the risk of the RPM on the machine matching the Hz of the light source. The stoboscopic effect can be seen in several points of this video where the speed of the lathe matches (or almost matches) the frame rate of the camera - making it appear that the lathe is not spinning, or spinning much slower than it actually is. Fun stuff 😁👍
I like the time lapse but with the wood grain it's a little trippy to see it spinning that fast hehe
You really saw the potential for beauty in that big ole log!
Absolutely breathtaking. Magnificent.

Awasome very lovely i always like this type of things my sil s having saw mill on us ok god blessu
Wood really is a gorgeous material from nature. The finish on it really brought out the gorgeous markings on the wood. Lovely contrast of dark and light shades in abstract wave like patterns. So appealing and seducing to the eye. 😮😊❤

@@HarrySmithWoodturning Loved them both, neither were preferable above the other. Both had the beauty brought out, showing the beautiful grains and I love the rough areas to as a combination of smooth, rough undulating grains gives an artistic finish. And then the coin underneath with your name on is a gorgeous touch and adds to it. It would be hard not to purchase something like that (both). 🙂
Thank you 🙏. A break from the garbage and lies going on in our world right now. Wonderful ! 😊
All your projects that you did so far are WONDERFUL. Love everyone of them 🤩

Just absolutely gorgeous!
I read once that those nodded areas, [its like our body making a scab over a damaged spot], are ways the tree self heals a damaged area. They were searched for by craftsman in making water tight containers because their abstract fibers growth makes it strong.❤
Your work is beautiful, absolutely amazing!
Very beautiful work, 1 of a kind piece.
Absolutely gorgeous!! I love that.

That turn out really great nice work
Awesome. Unique. Very talented
6:36 onwards: Looks as if the wood is slowly turning backwards on the lathe. It's actually a side effect of the frame rate being used to record with. Looks very cool to me! 😊👍👍
Good job matching the revolutions per second with the frames per second. Very well planned!
I haven’t seen the original yet but I will watch it in a minute, but I do like it. The finish line is beautiful it really lets wood grain come out.
Absolutely gorgeous

It's beautiful!
Only thing that concerns me is the fact that long sleeves and lathes don't mix.
People who have been doing it for years have died being wound up in the lathe.

For a while there I thought it was going to be a tossup. It's kinda like two grand kids asking grandpa which one he likes better. As time went by it became apparent that this one has much more character- hands down. Sorry about that little brother. 🥰

Beautiful!!!!
While I think the end result here is spectacular and know there are very good practical reasons for removing the bark, a part of me always gives a sad little sigh when it is stripped away.
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
