Who else is hyped for the new album?
P.s. There’s a slight editing error at 3:46. The actual song is Years Of War and not Sad Machine
mee im first
meee
Me
All EDM comunity
I need opportunity.
Porter Robinson was like “ha ha, dancing music!” for 7 years and then went “I will forcibly make you feel emotion” and released Worlds
And here on Nurture he’s just...
“I will make my emotions the songs.”
well worlds did have edm elements. so did nurture but yeah… this is a fair take lol
@@Plormby that's not the point lol, EDM can be emotional
he went from electro house to complextro to dubstep to complextro again and then 2014 some emotional EDM
and then waited another 7 years and said “i will forcibly make you feel more” and released nurture
It's very intresting he went from a typical electro house dj to an EDM legend.
Nah dude he BEEN a legend since the old days.
Then VIRTUAL SELF 😍
@@dominicdunn2579 Virtual Self was on a whole another level.
He wasnt typical 😂 he was the first kid to coin complextro and then everyone tried to sound like.him.
@@rez9386 wait. So you're saying that he invented complextro??
language is really a mile stone in his career.
Agree or divinity
Definetly
Definitely Language
Ling Yiwei I could not agree more.
yeah! from that on, it is more like emotional EDM in Japanese style
Porter Robinson is the EDM embodiment of growing up, it's like a teenager having fun, entering a rebellion phase, starts to wonder about life, becomes depressed, and finally matures.
His songs are about growing as a person yes
one of the best producers/musicians for sure
Yes
Yes...true 😍
Very true. Worlds is the first electronic album I ever owned, and it’s freaking iconic.
"Language" was the turning point.
syphant I knowww the emotional side of him began to come out
yes spitfire never was
and shepherdess too :)
In a way, we get the first taste of porter’s newer style in the melody of Unison
Worlds just gives me a feeling I can’t explain. Makes me wanna cry, but it’s not sad, but it’s not happy either. Any artist that can do that to people is a genius. Thank you, Porter Robinson.
Noward543 wtf you put exactly what I’m feeling into words lol
Exactly. I remember when porter released sea of voices on his soundcloud as a single and thinking to myself “WOW this is like, some next level emotional shit.” And then came sad machine followed by the album release. There’s not a single track on Worlds I don’t love. I can’t say that about any other album. I’m not looking for another worlds album In Porter because I know he isn’t the same Porter from 2014. I trust that this new album is going to grab ahold of me emotionally just like worlds did, just in a different way.
I saw Porter at a festival in 2016 when he was playing his Worlds set. I had never heard of him but some friends wanted to see him so I tagged along. I was 100% sober and I swear I was tripping during his show. The music and visuals together had me standing there with my mouth wide open just starring into the video board, feeling like I was floating. Been a fan ever since
You put exactly what I was feeling to the album... it was such a very emotional album
It's S A P P Y
3:35 Sad Machine
3:46 Sad Machine
Nice
Dunno if you know 3:46 is Years of War
And featuring Amy Milan too
@@cakhng7495 the text he meant
3:35 "ft. AVANNA", not "ft. Amy Millan"
It was corrected by the youtuber to be years of war
I've actually waited so long for this.. Porter is truly an artist with a very big evolution, bc he began with dubstep, then evolved into progressive house and complextro, and ended as someone who makes synthpop. he still has his own style and he putted very strong emotions in his tracks, something that a lot of artists just can't..
FOUND YOU BITCH
Jef Kempenaers this video was super interesting to make because you can clearly tell the different phases he went through. But i think his music has always been pretty creative and he definitely tries to innovate instead of always sticking to one specific type of sound like a lot of other producers do
Rave Nation exactly😉. But to be honest, i think worlds will be the best album forever
@@RaveNationMusic True..
He began with mainstream dubst... whaaa?
Have we watched the same video / followed the same artist?
Pretty curious to know that Porter went from composing party tracks to composing music to actually listen to
I mean, no offense to ppl who enjoy party tracks, I actually enjoy them myself
His progression is interesting to me
I think Porter Robinson is a great example of doing something because you are good at it and doing something because you love it. His old music is great. I remember seeing about him during Tiestos club life tour. He had an interesting set but I wasnt really taken by it. During that mid 2000 era I remember everyone being all about dubstep and he sounded a lot like everyone else 🤔 Easy was the first track that got my attention and Shapherdess had me hooked.
I'm glad that he evolved and found his sound. How many artists can you think of that did the same old stuff and aren't around any more? Lol
@@Ksix1 True.. I want people to learn about this so they could find their purpose easily and live better lives..
@Im an Intel Xeon E3110 But that's another phase, man.. Language is Progressive House.. But the way he changed to the style of "WORLDS", it's just something else, bro..
A few days ago I had a holy shit moment when I realized Worlds was now 6 years old. At the time I’ve never heard anything like it, and there’s no doubt it will be a future classic. His pre 2014 and post 2014 material is light years apart
I really like easy and language. I discovered Porter from language being the menu music on a game on the 360 called Forza horizon
Don't get me wrong tho his later stuff is great
@@chriscole9621 What's interesting, for me at least, is that language is pre 2014 porter, but sounds very much post 2014 porter
@@davidpicarazzi Language seems like it was first foray into music he actually wanted to make. His own style from the heart. He was anxious about releasing it, but it was a smash, so it basically greenlit Worlds for him i think. if you listen to his live sets from before 2014 there is all sorts of bleed in of his personal style but he'd only ever flirt with it haha. Language was the turning point.
Wake up it’s been a decade
He is simply one of the best edm producer.
Definitely
The best *
one of the best if not the best, he's a edm prodigy and legend, luv porter
No cap!
Porter Robinson is one of those music artists where you can just get lost in their music. I mean just listen to Worlds at night with 100% attention to the music. Trust me. It's something else.
D's Bakery it’s seriously crazy. Makes you just feel like... idk !! Beautiful
this man was 19 when he made spitfire and 22 when he dropped worlds. so much talent. upmost respect forever 💗
The greatest part is that you can hear the progression.
From what sounds like some sort of house, to dubstep, to melodic dubstep, to a bunch of other genres that I don't know the name of yet.
Most of his new stuff is future bass. You would probably like a lot of k?d's stuff.
@@Gorillagamer44 I believe the genre is called Synthpop
@@teknikvlt Not at all, I don't know what it is myself, but it's definitely not synthpop
@@AliVe1234 you possibly dont know synth/dream pop then
For ekowraith, he was mostly happy hardcore/ “hard dance”, for the spitfire ep it was electro with elements of dubstep “complextro” (check knife party), worlds is the one album that’s really hard to tie down to one genre, but I’d describe as a mix of synth pop and future bass. Virtual self was basically every dance genre under the sun besides dubstep, and well for his final album... I’d call it the some of best pop I’ve ever heard, although there are elements of breakbeat.
Since the times when they were young prodigies, Porter Robinson and Madeon never disappoints
2013 is when I discovered Porter, with his song Language. Then went out to absolutely ADORING his Worlds album. I always danced to it, it's crazy how he went to heavy dubstep to some electronic music with meaning towards it. He was a big part of my inspiration behind electronic music.
Edit: I LOVED his new _nurture_ song! I hope this new album will do great.
Hyped for "Nurture"!
Could you do Madeon next?
YESSS!!!! Madeon must be the next after Porter or Jesus won't forgive..
Madeon is amazinngg
You mean Deamon44 ?
@@zel___ lol what?
@@cloudscape5996 You'll see if they make a video on Madeon ^^
So, You are saying that after Shelter in 2016 he didn't had a break, he was making music as Virtual Self?? Oh boi
*angry weeb noises*
He had a break then did virtual self
bruh
I mean if you only release one song in an entire year then you are probably on break
Limak he was having an EON break*
Porter Robinson stood out no matter what genre he does... Thats how unique he is. Even his mainstream dance tracks were ahead of its time.
legit everyone did the exact same shit in 2008, stop being a fanboy you fuck
@@LanCeeXD bruh, take your meds
@@LanCeeXD his 2008 stuff was heavily ddr inspired more than generic trance etc. inspired.. so i'm gonna say no.. not really. his stuff from when he produced electro house, yeah sure. that sounds like every other electro house track out there.
Disagree he found his sound maybe around language, other than that he sounded pretty much like every other producer at the time. There's nothing wrong about that, it takes everyone time to find their sound.
@@LanCeeXD ?? Im talking about his debut stuff.. He debuted in 2011. Before that he was a try hard ddr wanna be.
so he started when he was 14y.o
xophaser Jesus Christ
I actually knew a DJ that started at about 14, plus if you want to know other composers that started young, Sex Whales is a good example.
Cookowa [D-G] you mean Hardwell, who started touring at the age of 14? Btw, can you recommend some more DJ/producers who started when they were young?
@@porisalfabs6490 Nitro Fun, while not being as big as people like Hardwell and Porter Robinson, has made some pretty impressive music at the age of 14.
@Boyo nice
00:26 first Porter & Madeon collab
Wait what?
@@SquidsTv it is, madeon went by wayne mont, porter went by ekowraith
@@tkmaida yeppp they both made a genre called Hands Up lol
Ekowraith (2007-2009) Porter Robinson (2009-2017) Virtual Self (2017-2019) Porter Robinson (Again) [2019-Present]
virtual self really is my favorite thing ever
Yes!😍
I'm personally in love with Shepherdess
AND HE JUST RELEASED THE WORLDS LIVE EDIT!!!! like... holy shit im done, just typing this is getting me hyped :::)))
Polygon Dust and Hear the Bells are underrated
judgebeanhead agreed
Hear the Bells and Years of War are songs that just sound ethereal
Ghost Voices hands down one of the best electronic songs I've ever heard..
yaaa
It was nominated for a grammy in the edm category
I love it 😘
next artist Flume
I love how he has such a wide range of styles. Hands Up, Trance, Happy Hardcore/Rave, Future Bass, Progressive House, etc.
"The Seconds" was the borderline of Porter's style
yea, i would say *"The Seconds"* *"Language"* and *"Shepherdess"* are his transitional tracks :)
oh! and *Easy* too
I don't know about you guys, but when I listen to his progression, it literally has a story. I may be out of line to say this but it seems early on he wanted chase fame, he lost himself in the dubstep and a little part of his identity, and then in 2014 he had a rebirth where he became distinguished and "his own" producer. Once again I could be out of line since he isn't my taste of edm but it's just how the music made me feel.
One of his latest songs, Get Your Wish, represents that.
Honestly, everything this man touches turns to gold. His original songs were clunky, but they're actually pretty good. He's been bending genres long before the hipsters got to it. Each of his songs are unique to themselves, and that's what makes a producer memorable. Mega excited for Nurture.
I literally got goosebumps during Shelter💓that song's in a whole different level
It’s crazy how you can tell that Porter really did lose himself between Shelter and Get your wish as his Virtual self pieces reflect more his really early EDM pieces.
You can tell that he thought that going back to his routes was the answer instead of further developing his style.
Personally I’m thankful that he went down the path he’s on now as I and I think many others prefer it much more.
yall are so wrong, virtual self and nurture are both great but virtual self is more emotive and inventive
I feel like Virtual Self was more an expectationless testground for porter to work on his production and theory? I love worl's but going back to it after nurture and VS you notice things. It's not that well mixed, nor is it that fantastically produced. Virtual Self was his way to practice before the real thing (Nurture)
You're all wrong, he did virtual self because he wanted to do a project with that beatmania/trance type aesthetic
People may not believe that someone who made Spitfire would be the same person who made Get Your Wish. But guess what? We all grow and develop ourselves, and this is the case for Porter Robinson. What an eternally memorable talent.
I honestly love every 'phase' he went through, even if it did take me time. Booming track fkn slaps
funny how he was my favorite Hands Up producer when I was a teenager and now he is my fav EDM producer
Who else got overly excited when they saw goodbye to a world? It’s literally my favourite song of all time.
Same bro
Vandalism was my first song of him. Didn't even know it was made by Porter until years later. Saw him live for the first time at SnowGlobe, Lake Tahoe, NV, US and I didn't even know that was him too! Shit was sooo damn magical listening to Worlds for the first time in the snow on New Years. Even kissed a girl I met at midnight under those 2014 Fireworks.. Thank you Porter for the memories! 【=◈︿◈=】
In 2014 his music did a full 180 from standard edm to some of the most emotional beats I have ever heard
Should have included Clarity by Zedd since he ghost produced on that :D
Something comforting is one to add to this list, it barely came out but damn is it good. Give it a listen 👌
1:36 it is the first song and album of OWSLA Records
I remember digging really into a ton of his older tracks, I appreciate porters style now but I’ve always loved his old stuff too
Porter Robinson's Worlds changed me. Well, being on like 6 tabs of acid played an effect. But god was it seriously the best experience ever. True bliss.
sad machine did not feature amy millan, he used the vocaloid and his own vocals for that song
Just discovered Porter, what a radical change, I guess actual producers evolve for the better while those who get ghost produced like aoki or guetta remain trash, talent has to shine at some point.
this guy is literally my idol, everything he has crafted has its own personal touch that really made me believe you can achieve sounding like yourself even if you produce the most popular genre ever
Ohh my goodness!!! Is this a dream?? Because this is one of those vids I've been waiting for since a long time..!!!
Thanks for putting this out!!!
I found Porter Robinson a couple years ago and it really helped spark my creativity and love of world building and this being said, I don’t think I’ve ever been so impacted by an artist. I’ve never been so hyped for a new album and I’m so excited to see more of his work!
I discovered Porter listening to random EDM in a library. Then all of a sudden goodbye to a world played, then sea of voices, I cried, then did donuts in the rain at night in the parking lot to sea of voices. Forever will stick with me…
Who are the best 5 DJ’s/Producers of all time?
Porter, Porter, Porter, Porter, & Porter.
Why? Because he spins hot fire.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
spitfire
Porter is truly a prodigy. He was already doing amazing things with his early music that most artists spend their entire careers hoping to get even just a small taste of.
But when he released "Worlds"....shit man, NOBODY was ready. I don't even think he totally understood at the time the impact that album would have on not just the edm world, but on music in general.
I doubt we'll ever see anything on the same level again. at least in this generation ha.
Long live Porter.
You actually put this together very well, good job.
Really love this kind of video! Need more of this ❤️❤️
Shelter is the best!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Agreed^v^
This is really REALLY well mixed.
Ok that's one of the best music evolution video I've ever watched.
Sick transitions and amazing work 🔥
Polygon dust is so underrated, Lemaitre are also very talented!
Rasmus I listen to polygon dust like almost every day, it’s so good I agree
I’ve seen lemaitre 5+ times live, and they floor me every time. Such a phenomenal band!
LANGUAGE CHANGED EVERYTHING
Very cool transitions
hearing all of these songs back to back you can actually hear the evolution of his sound and that is so sick
It's interesting to see bits and pieces of his sound selection and design stay relatively similar, yet sound so different as his style changed over the years
Old poter robinson I used to like his electro house in 2010
I love how most of these are the same tempo
This video is the way I discovered Shepherdess, my favourite ever song from Porter Robinson, thanks for including it despite how unknown it is
Oh wow I’ve loved his music for a long time, this brought a lot of emotion for me.
this reminds me when i used to watch TopEDM. so sad he quits 😓😭
Quetzer I think he’s back but I’m not sure
Quetzer he didn’t quit. He’s still killin it
He has no new videos for 1 year... he quitted
@@bidderankings5041 no He just Release a song a week ago
@@malex6964 I mean TopEDM
THANKS, MAN!! it really takes years to become a legend!
His songs are really nice, he has his own unique style, and the message of his music videos and lyrics are more than love stories, it's awesome. He's a legend
I grew up with Porter through his musical evolution. Really an incredible artist from start to finish.
he’s such an amazing artists. i was captivated my shelter and have been in love with his music ever sir
Language was the first Porter song I ever listened to, I was 11 when it came out and it completely changed my world on what music is.
This was excellent! Must do Madeon next!
I think Fellow Feeling and Goodbye to a world will always be my favourites. You can just feel the emotions flowing through them. Worlds was an amazing album
2011-2016 Incredible talent
2017-2019 are some of the greatest songs every created. I can’t even put it into words how amazing they are.
I know his new album will be different but I’m still excited to hear it.
Who else thinks that the best songs he made to this day was Shelter, Language, and flicker? His music helped me a lot. These songs helped me feel good.
This video is a thrill to my ear
The evolution is terrific.
His Hands Up productions were by far the best
I didn't know he made dubstep before.. but I love the evolution of his music, especially his new upcoming album
gahh i remember so many of these!! porter has come so far
Always crazy to see how much artists evolve as they get bigger, Porter is no exception
My man's music went through puberty
2:54 - Where the legend has started.
Divinity is by far my favourite track in the entire universe😁
I remember him debuting Spitfire live before it was released and it was such a small crowd but the track went offffff.
So many memories and a ton of nostalgia around his music for me.
I love him. He put an magical touch in every single song.. What an edm Legend
Man, if you wait 1 more month for this, you could put in something comforting in this too..
I would use "developed" instead of "changed" 😁💗
Top 3 for me:
1. Lionhearted
2. Sad Machine
3. Shelter
But my favourite album/EP is still Spitfire
Junze Shi Spitfire was when I first fell in love with him, before that album I didn’t really like his stuff. I 100% agree with your top three!
Even his music visualizers are addictive, those glitches.
I love his old and new style
I love "the wildcat" so much! 1:28
Yo do Seven Lions next. He has some of my favorite songs and I'd love to see how well his progression would be in video form.
Truly grateful for Porter and his music
Something comforting ❤️❤️❤️
Get your wish is pretty unique. I love the direction he took.
Sea of voices and goodbye world will have a special place in my
Heart
I remember when he toured my university and it was a really random conference hall. My very first rave lol Tickets were like $15-$20. Amazing to see how far he’s come
