People are still shocked today when this happens.
The crowd was awfully quiet when he was laying out that amazing autopilot information, but if they're like me it was because they were stunned.
That is a LOT of advancement over what we've seen to date; can't wait to see some test drive/review videos showcasing the autopilot.
I was watching a live stream from someone's phone while the event was happening--the crowd was definitely not quiet, Tesla Motors has simply mixed, in post, the mic feed with the overall audio, making everything that isn't Elon's voice much quieter than it actually was.

I saw the live stream too. crowd: "We can't see!"... Elon: "Move the Titan!"... and it did a little dance for the crowd to the faded-in music and ducked to the stage... most epic, polished ad-lib ever.
True that, there should be a live feed and have people the option "thumb up" stuff and add it on the live feed

I hadn't seen this one before, it's interesting though that a lot of what was promised for Autopilot is only now coming in early access for Full Self Driving, not AP alone, like summon and red lights.
Elon should get Nobel prize in 'awesome' category! This car is the future on wheels. D stands for Daaaamn :)
I actually thought Elon did a great job presenting! At least in comparison to the few other presentations I've seen him do in the past. He's getting better.

does the windows autotint? since you could set your tint level and when you get pulled over for overly dark tint you it will turn it off and the windows will be clear.

Tesla is truly what every car company should strive to be they put everything they have into there cars and take so much pride and constantly are trying to improve and just make you love them and your car all while changing what you think about electric cars and helping the earth and I have been a huge fan of Tesla since there fist daube and I’m only 15 but will be 16 soon and I can see the amazing things they are doing just wish I could afford one but thank you so much Tesla for helping the world out ❤️💙

@Lil homo BMW and Mercedes, like Nokia, rely/relied on old technologies that work now and don't really invest in the future. Nokia was once one of the best phone manufacturers, but they completely missed the "touch screen boom". This will likely happen to brands that don't focus on electric cars right now.

Tesla Motors I was watching revealing live on someone good heart mobile phone streaming ... and I was so so so excited when robot arm was getting car out with very very impressive dubstep music. It was very like Tony Stark would do reveal of new toy.
But! For some reason you cut this part almost completely and changed music to some much less excited =( Also there is not second car dance that was because it blocked viewers view.
Please add this back!

4:11 Dual motor car is a bit heavier than a single motor car and there are less space in front so there are few technical drawbacks.

However the evolution made available by Elon Musk to human race is phenomenal & one of a kind. Catching up to the future in lightening speed......the TESLA way. Hats off to Elon.

Hey there guys, our next 2017 release, the Tesla Model E, stay tune for our March Presentation.
+Elon Musk recently you launched Model 3, I'm guessing in the future Tesla's would have all Model T, 3, S, L, & A?
The intended name for the Model 3 was Model E, but the Model E name had to be abandoned as it is a Ford trademark.
Elon was intending to spell SEXY with his car models. Since he couldn't get Model E, he had to use Model 3 instead, which of course had to be allocated to the third car produced. The S is counted as the first car produced - they are ignoring the original Roadster in this naming convention. Because the second car produced couldn't be called the Model E, it was called the Model X, naturally the third car was called the Model 3, and the fourth the Model Y.
In order of release, the models are SX3Y, but of course we know it spells S3XY.

Interesting that fans tracked and cheered for the news just liked they tracked and cheered for the new iPhone. A friend of mine who told me that he is going to trade in his 6 month old Model-S with Model-D. He didn't change his iPhone this fast though!! Congratulations Tesla, the Silicon Valley company, for keeping the Valley's innovation spirit. You made us proud.
I believe the function of autopilot will work better if every car on the road is a smart car , and even able to exchange information. I think function of the GPS will be enhanced if we setup beacons on the road to broadcast a signal and by combining it with a map like Google map, the car will know the road condition ahead, so it doesn't need to do instant calculations . another thing is the environment , since the road signs and obstacles are detected by camera, what happens if there is storm visibility is poor? So I guess you can't drive too fast when ur on autopilot, it might can't keep up or confused.

I am curious ... what if two Tesla cars with sonar comes close ... assuming same frequencies for the sonar .... what will happen to this 360 degree view system ... ?
It shouldn't matter what frequency. We can talk to each other using the same frequencies and the fact that you hear my voice doesn't mean you can't recognize your own. Sonar merely understands what bounces off. But it can bounce what it wants.
Good point! There is a lot of technical mystery here. I actually think the software is more unbelievable than the hardware, though. Isn't Google still having trouble with this stuff?

I thought of that too .. but as I can understand from the presentation ... this sonar is the only tool through which it can see in 360 degrees. Others only have restricted say "Viewing angle". .. !!
Considering that the Tesla factory and test facilities have far more Teslas than Buicks, I'm pretty sure they tested things with multiple Model S cars on the road. In fact I'm sure the majority of their tests were like that. They also tested using everything from garbage cans to live babies, all of which don't use sonar.
What a breakthrougt, that is the car of future components.
Does this mean that any recently manufactured single motor Model S has autopilot?
Because I think the idea of having a car come meet at a place is so cool!

I think Tesla should integrate a large speaker/with vibrations-where the motor usually sits.That speaker should synchronize in software with the car speed and acceleration. This should emulate quite nicely the sound of a petrol engine-when you feel the need. Hell they could even include different sound settings: emulate Veyron, Ferrari, Lambrghini, monster truck..F1. At least make this optional, sometimes I like the quietness of tesla cars, sometimes I want noise
It would be tricky though, Tesla's only have one gear, and the acceleration is constant. Maybe cut the power to the motors for a moment to simulate each gear change?
They could install a large vibrating platform in the front trunk, like those used on exercise machines, to provide the vibrations, particularly when stopped at the lights.
They could also install a small gas burner in the trunk, attach it to some pipes out the back to create some smoke exhaust.
Sound, vibration, smoke... have we covered it all? Oh no, heat! Petrol engines also give off a lot of heat, which is great for cats that like to sleep on the hood. So install a heater under the hood to heat it up whenever the vehicle is used.

yes i know, but if there were nothing there before the frunk gets one volume, and if you put something there there should be a new smaller volyme. Unless there were space underneath the frunk in the first place.
