He has done more for innovation in the last 3-4 years than all the big motor companies combined.
Tesla has come so far...
I'm so very proud to own one of these great machines.
Thanks Elon!
Elon Musk is like the Tony Stark of the real world. He has green cars that will help reduce global warming and he has a space company. Who else?
Tesla finally getting the credit he deserved with tesla motors. There's a reason Elon didn't name it Edison.
im here on feb 2018. tesla has come a long way
Feb 2020 here. Even longer way.
May 2020 even longer way
It's interesting watching this back, 10 years a later.. so much has changed...
sir u r a best enemy of oil lobby god bless u
That thing looks like a turret from Portal 2. And the subtitles at 7:01 killed me.
Lol
6:48, nobody seems to get how huge of a deal that is.
That disappointed “okay” by Elon is golden
Simply beautiful. I'm really looking forward to this and hope to see Tesla accomplishing their goals! Big thumbs up to them!
And now there are almost 500 and the model 3 is about to Dominate the market
Chris Cicala 800 now yayyy!
more than 10,000 stations worldwide
God bless you Elon, this is bigger than just a car. I'm going support this project. Wonderful wonderful wonderful!!!
Almost two years ago there were 6 chargers. Now there are 105 in the USA.
That is amazing. And I bet in additional 30 days there will be ~120 Chargers.
Clean cars with clean domestic power.
I do not have range anxiety I have restroom and Food anxiety. :D
this is so cool.
also look at europe. ppl are now doing roadtrips for over 1000 miles.
Can't wait for further chargers
Roughly eight months ago there were 105 chargers in the US. Now there are 189 in the US and 431 worldwide.
Three years later almost 400
And 4 years later there are 642 in North America with 575 in the USA alone, and 1379 world-wide as of today (that's a mind boggling 11295 stalls)! Tesla isn't stopping, they are building more every week!
Are these for years cars only or all electric cars?
*Tesla not years
This is the future of automobiles! Great job Elon Musk!
go Tesla go! Sunday i got a testride here in Italy and i'm in love..!
now there are over 10,000 superchargers!!!!
now there are over 55,000 superchargers!!!!
Elon is my hero. 100% serious
This is the reason I want a Tesla, the supercharger network
Question - Will these stations also offer a J1772 for other electric cars? Or will it be Tesla only?
tesla only in the us, but in EU it is for everyone
@Alijah Lettieri no it is correct
@Alijah Lettieri tesla superchargers in the eu literally have j1772 plugs that work on non teslas
@Alijah Lettieri omg sorry, I meant CCS not J1772
@@sahajpatel1553 You're wrong. It's CCS, but it's locked, and you can't charge unless it's a Tesla.
Cool to see how the prototypes are compared to modern superchargers
You had me at sun light
Love the light show!!
To be more precise, the person talking in the video is Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla Motor Company and designer of the car. He also is the owner of the other company he mentions in the video "Solar City" who is the company pairing with Tesla Motors to produce the chargers to be used by their customers to charge the cars.
Come to Switzerland!!! :D This is soo cool!
How much will it cost to replace the Batteries and how long do they last??
Tesla was a genius. This company reflects his creativity and innovation through its inventions. Tesla motors would be able to be a monopoly for the electric car industry in seriousness
Very exciting! Now if I could just afford one of their cars :D
Our Planet needs.. more people.. like him... !!
He is a Amazing man.. !!!
It's only for those with the tesla plugg right?
How many ports at each station (and thus the max total Wattage draw at each station)? How much kW of solar at each station?
Wow... Seeing this for the first time. Tesla has come a long way. What would the next 10 years bring?
how much will it be to charge the other cars OTHER than "S" Models?
If you're doing vertical integration for the taxi service, you could do battery swaps, and the 45 minutes would be closer to 45 seconds. You could even do it during shifts tbh.
Agreed. His stuttering is due to the fact he has so much knowledge and his vision is so huge that something as simple as public speaking is actually very difficult (you can tell he's trying to figure out which synonyms to use to describe what he's saying so others can understand). This is pretty common in people that are able to achieve huge tasks like run a company etc.
By the way, what do you think is inside that white tower, the charging station? Obviously it has to store energy, since it delivers 120000 watts on demand even at night, far more than solar panels can produce. I say its big flywheels stored in vacuum, these can store that kind of energy very efficiently for days, and can be charged slowly and give off the energy rapidly. It could also be condensators or rechargeable batteries, but the speaker mentioned the system is low-cost.
My dad always used to tell me that the CEO has to be the best salesman in the company. Clearly though, someone else could deliver a better sales pitch. However, Elon is a great CEO for a different reason. I accept his message, not because he has a silver tongue, but because I trust and respect the man. Elon has the vision, foresightedness, and brilliance to not just do good business, but to change the world. Elon is a revolutionary figure and I will always want to hear him speak.
Does the obelisk thing do anything, or is it just a sign? Does Tesla sell the excess power to the local electric company, or does it just go straight into the grid?
I want a model S!!
Thanks:-)
I'll suggest something, create a few spots at each shopping mall/complex, a little bit wider than the average car space to accommodate the chargers (hooked up to solar panels on the roof if its a multi-level car park.) hell the mall/complex owners could charge $1 to use the station if they wanted and it would still be cheaper than petrol.
Also would the connections be available to purchase to fit 1 in your home?
And where did you get that from?
are there any plans to deploy something in germany?
6:16
WOOOOOOOOOH
how long does that take?
I'm from France, and I can't wait to see these everywhere ! even if I'm wondering about the efficiency of such a system in a country where there's not as much as sun as in California.
And how many ordinary mains sockets are there in the same area? I think you have missed the point!
is model s available in france or in Asia?
There will be 2+ stalls per station. They will calculate based upon population density of Model S/X/Gen III units sold in that area, increase the number in areas with greater population.
ça me fait plaisir que tu sois content de ton séjours ^^ reviens plus souvent ^^
great man with visionary...please bring Tesla to Asia my man.. especially Malaysia
I want that T-shirt!
Palm springs Ca. There will be charging stations at eleven green hotels that start going totally on sub grid and generate renewable energy and make higher profitability and guests now can choose to take smart cars zero omissions and leave the car they arrived in parked securely. In a covered car port. Out of the Sun.
The car is gorgeous
I will pass the word along. Really cool stuff.
Thank you Tesla! i'm from New Jersey and i will be Abel to afford a certified pre owned Tesla in two years, this is great and there will be plenty of charging stations by then in my area. this is good!!!
Really guys, no plans for covering Maine? There wasn't even one bit of my state on the "Nationwide" plan. I'd LOVE to go electric, but it seems like it takes ages for great technology to make it up here. Canada gets this kind of stuff before we do and we're only 3 hours away.
Does anybody ask themselves how many vehicles a day these solar panel stations can handle? How long will the lines be before you get your turn at having your vehicle charged? Having a station three hours away only having to wait for everyone else to charge their cars, doesn't sound very convenient.
All I can think of is the lineups we already get at gas stations, but instead of it taking a few minutes for someone to leave, it takes half an hour.
which makes it even more awesome.
There should be more Elon Musks in the world. Good work!
I love you guys.... seriously.
So you think it takes no money or energy to construct cars and solar panels?
Charging station Onalaska/LaCrosse Wisconsin off I-90. Right next to Walmart and Outback steakhouse. Perfect place to make a pit stop! :)
I think it's the joy in the eye at the elegance of the solution I love the most....♥ Tis good to watch this again...
A great presentation - undoubtedly the future of transportation right there. For me though, there was a little something missing from proceedings. Specifically, I believe that Elon Musk should have gone into a dramatic magician-style dance routine at 1:52, just as the music kicks in. Look up "The Day Today Newsdancer" for a perfect example.
Oh well, perhaps next time...
another thing thats pretty amazing is the concept of wireless charging...currently its not very efficient and its pretty slow but as it develops and becomes like superfast and it gets combined with this...its a pretty fascinating view of the future. instead of pulling into a gas station and doing what u do today...in the future u would pull into a charging station, not hav to get out the car and drive off fully charged for free in sunlight in 30 seconds or less. damn.
love this guy. he has the petroleum giants kacking themselves
Man this presentation is exactly how it should be done....and Elon seems much more secure (no stuttering at all) I mean...think about it...FREE TRAVEL!!! It's insane!! GO TESLA!!!
Thanks for the video. But, please, could you deinterlace them before uploading ? :-).
I'm waiting for Tesla Model: Death Ray!
I know right, its spectacular.
He's essentially picking a fight with the world's largest auto makers, challenging them to think outside the box. Once the competing auto makers wake up, unbridled innovation will bring low cost highly reliable modes of transportation that will transform this century. Thanks Mr. Elon!
Ok, now I officially want one.
This is wonderful.
How do they pay for the construction of the charge sites ...
wow where do i get one!!...
Actually, for the signature series its 8 years/unlimited mileage.
got chills watching this. the future is literally now. Hard to believe.
Elon Musk is a legend! Respect from India. I hope Tesla have plans for my country :)
this company will be large and amazing in a few years... :)))
There are already many more charging stations for the other electric cars, but they charge slower. Teslas can also use the much slower industry standard charging station. Supercharger stations allow Tesla owners to have access to their proprietary high speed 30 minute charging.
brilliance of the mind is a rare thin in this world. appreciate it when it comes along and touches everyone's life. Anyone can be coached to speak well, but sincerity comes from the heart. it cannot be faked.
so In Two years when this supercharger open around places like Chicago and New York where the sun isn't out as much as it is in Cali. How are the solar panels going to put more power back in the grid then the cars use? Just a thought.
What's the giant white statue? What purpose does it serve?
Amazing person, still has the wonder in his eyes. Amazing car , I want the roadster !!!
So it charges from 0 to 100% in 30 min? That takes some time.
way to go!!!
je viens de voir ton nom "Strasbourgeois"! j'ai passé 3 mois à Strasbourg et j'ai adoré! (je suis Québécois) vive l'Alsace!
So the car has thousands of individual lap-top batteries. How fast can you supercharge one such battery? I would think its less than 30 minutes.
So if they can make the charger target all batteries individually, I think they can cut the charge time in half or less.
You should check out Tesla Motors's "Fast Pack Swap Event" video. They do exactly what you're talking about.
@Gerry Crisostomo And God Bless America!
Brilliant. Nice work Tesla!
This guy is AWESOME! PLEASE SUPPORT TESLA!
excellent!
... Alot of gas stations don't even take six at a time, solar panels can be put on the roofs of existing gas stations (no, they don't need fields anymore for anything below a MW) and it's an emerging tech. It's a massive leap forward from what we have now and it can (and will) always improve: just give it time.
Great work Elon. I'm guessing that's one big capacitor storing sunshine. Simple and elegant as nature itself.
we don't have much tolls here in sc
How does this affect the batteries life? It doesn't seem like it would be good for longevity and balance of the battery pack.
AWESOME. but what about the places with no sunlight :/
This guys approach is inspired. Right back to first principles - electric generation, geographical coverage, and cost. No doubt it will eventually entail a fee, as much for the installation of the Superchargers, but this guy is thinks in a language called 'revolution'. At one point in history, there were only half a dozen gas stations. Today, there are only half a dozen supercharger stations. Now watch history unfold before your eyes. A great day for humanity!
