    Lovely.
    I’ve had my 225 for 3 years now!
    Aside from the routine maintenance aside (new battery, annual servicing and camber/water pump, spark plugs). Theft of a wheel cap, annoying.. It’s been an absolute pleasure!
    Wunderbar.

    You say, "Let's see if it starts . . . which it does," in a tone that conveys your feelings at that moment, exactly like mine. Confident yet still being amazed at it starting. It's like, OK, that's most of it. Whew." I'm not sure newer car owners or those not hot rodders have ever experienced those mixed emotions at just that moment, that unknown distance, the going into the blinding fog between turning the key at it actually starting. I think comes from lots of times, it not making a sound or more fondly the turning over and over until the battery starts to cry. There's a hard won, settling satisfaction when it fires right up.

      Hi Vic. The reason for my questioning of the car was, it had a flat battery before I turned the key. It had been on trickle charge overnight before I started it. I did this all live to capture the true moment rather than stage it. A bit like the "blooper" at the end of the video. If you look in the background, you will see the edge of the spare wheel cover poking up. I had not replaced this in case it needed a jump start somewhere. As I went over a bump, it slipped down and made that noise! The good news was it performed flawlessly!

      @@andycharger For me, the "outtakes," give your persona depth. See my grin. I have trickle chargers on both mine when they're sitting. There was a time a trickle charger was a luxury. My wife gave me a real battery charger early on. I was trying to remember where the little round, with a hook, wheel cap remover goes in the beautiful formed, foam surround. I tucked it in under the brilliant plastic wheel locator tool.
      Have the best week.

    Is a red one with red leather a decent pick. All those top 5 picks match but the red on red concerns me 😢

    • @andycharger
      @andycharger  3 місяці тому

      Interiors can be changed and the bright red are desirable in contrasting exterior colours so you could always swap it out. If it’s good on all points, it’s definitely one to consider

    What OBD dongle are you using??

    • @andycharger
      @andycharger  4 місяці тому

      It’s just a cheap one from Amazon. However things like chain readings i do with the Creader Elite or Topdon S500. Naturally you can use VCDS or OBDEleven too. I hope that helps 👍

      @@andycharger Hi Andy, thanks for your quick reply, I'm shopping for a 4-cylinder TT for my son, I use Ross Tech on my personal TT, but folks get a bit concerned when I take out my laptop (or even a corded reader) to access a TT buy! A dongle is so easy vs hauling a laptop about. I've heard dongle OBDs are not adequate for VAGSs? I'm not looking for perfection in a dongle, but one (hopefully reasonably priced) that will give me major faults, to avoid a potential "pig in a poke)! Do you have any brand suggestions?? Thanks, Paul

    I thought this was meant to be a mk1 TT video not just a general buying guide

    • @andycharger

      Hi Chris. All the points i make are things you should be checking out if buying a Mk1. You are right, much of it applies to buying any car but wanted to highlight these things, due to the questions i see repeatedly in FB groups and the element of unknown FB marketplace introduces.
      Many of the things i speak about with the OBD section such as chains, gearbox, etc on 3.2 and roof operation and CCM on the roadster are definitely Mk1 specific.
