You should play some of the Neo Geo beat'em ups.
This is definitely one of the toughest beat-em-ups I've ever played, but the music is just so good, and the impact noises are really satisfying. It also has a decent story for what it is and the action can get really intense.
Hard here definitely doesn't mean crap, at least in my honest opinion.
I don't remember getting further than the first venom stage lol. I was probably 8 or 9. Maybe 10. Loved this game though.
Really tight controls too. The only downside is that it's really easy to pick up enemies when you want to just hit them

Yes. Spiderman and Venom: Maximum Carnage was the only game made by LJN that was really good.
This game is phenomenal. Beat it once and is my best gaming achievement. The soundtrack is sick.
Try the Sega version, that one sounded more better but thats me

Remember when all game had points? We always played games to beat them and never cared about the points, but man if they didn’t put points in every game in the 80’s thru mid-90’s. Loved growing up with all these games, especially the LJN ones

Released in 1994.
Based on the 1993 comic book story with the same name.
It's one of my favourite games of all time and it's my favourite Spider Man of all time.
In fact, I love it so much that I've come up with all sorts of different versions of it.
There's Maximum Carnage which is of course the classic original version.
There's also The Incredibles Maximum Carnage which is basically Maximum Carnage but with The Incredibles.
Also there's Jewel Riders Maximum Carnage which is Maximum Carnage but with The Jewel Riders.
Then we have The Musketeers Maximum Carnage which is, you guessed it, Maximum Carnage but with The Musketeers, including Albert The 5th Musketeer.
And many more.

I remember when this game came out. I rented it only because it listed on the cover, music by Green Jello. I was like cool. The music in the game was for the next album they had recorded. But had not gone on sale till like month later.

In fact, this game is still a lot of fun. It's kinda like Streets of Rage with Spiderman.
Whenever the intro starts, I grit my teeth and show my insane side.

The SNES soundchip reigns supreme over all the other ones Nintendo's got... but the GBA soundchip is a close second.

I found myself playing this video game quite a lot as a teenager. It was both good and bad at the same time. A confusing one that's hard to explain on grounds of game-play but obviously a beat 'em up in general. ~Puzzled smile.~ Nevertheless, it was still fun overall.
Green Jelly cooked the midi music... It was lit when I was a wee little lad...
I am aware that LJN mostly distributes these games here, but this is one of the best games they have been involved in, if not the best.

The Nerd: (Sighs) All right, one more game, and then it's Happy Holidays and good fucking night. Let's end with Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage on Super Nintendo. Everyone says I should play this one, as if I haven't already played enough Spider-Man games! They're all terrible! But maybe this one's okay. After all, I'm not sure how I missed it, because it's one of the only Super NES games that's red. Anyway, let's give it a try.
The Nerd: Well, the comic book cut-scenes are quite nice. The game-play? Well, it's a beat-'em-up game. Monotonous, but fun. The controls are responsive, and the hit detection works fine. The sound effects are good, the punches and grunts you hear all lend themselves to the fun, stress-relieving nature of these kind of games. It just feels good when you hit things. You can climb up on buildings, which offers some variety and breaks up the monotony. It can be a little frustrating, but not too bad. And the music is upbeat and energizing.
The Nerd: And what do I hear? ("The Mob Rules" by Black Sabbath plays) It's The Mob Rules by Black Sabbath! I don't mean it just sounds similar, it's the same song! Just a 16-bit rendition. It even does the solo! (16-bit rendition of Black Sabbath's "The Mob Rules" solo plays) I think it was just a rip-off, and that they never got Black Sabbath's permission, but it's still welcome to hear and adds to this game's enjoy-ability.
The Nerd: That's right. I found a good Spider-Man game. Better late than never. It's no masterpiece or anything like that, but it would have definitely been worth a rental at the very least. Who made this game?
(The Nerd turns over the box, revealing that is was published by...LJN! The Nerd's eyes widen in shock, and he drops the box in happiness realizing that LJN pulled through and published a decent game for once!)

This local game store had a thing going on where you have one shot to beat this game, and I got to the second level and did not know what to do, soundtrack is kick ass, but hard game.

No way I used to think the N64/PS1 Spider-man was the best but Spider-man PS4 is freaking insanely good.

Does ANYONE have a list of all the secret rooms. They're different for both Spiderman playthroughs and venome playthroughs and I CANNOT find them! I found 3 as Spiderman and 1 as venom on level 1 as a kid totally on accident. Please can anyone link me to a list? Or even just say? I love this game

How do you do the “power hits” so perfectly? What am I doing wrong? Isn’t it just pressing the attack button? It never works for me lol
yeah, you keep attacking enemies without missin a lunch and ur health bar starts flashing faster and faster, then press punch when its flashin super quick and you do the power hit.
the game rewards accuracy while fighting with power huts pretty much.
I hope somehow they remake this game based on the comic. it seems bad ass
