I have to point out that Slipknot/corey taylor has a really tight grip on the crowd when they're on stage

This song is about the time when we went from radio being everything for music, to when music BLEW UP on video (MTV) for the first time. I was there (and then) when it happened. It was absolutely awesome. Imagine if EVERYTHING you ever knew about music was on the radio. and then all of a sudden, music BLEW UP on TV for the first time. Back then, MTV was sooooo awesome. It was ALL the original (brand new for us) videos for all these bands NONSTOP on the channel and the original VJs (video jockeys) like Martha Quinn, Adam Currey, JJ Jackson, Nina Blackwood, Mark (I forget his last name), etc... would come on the channel after a bunch of videos and explain to us all about these "new" bands and their songs, etc... It was ALL new and amazing for us at the time. Trust me, my entire generation was addicted to MTV... Kind of like when social media became a brand new thing and everyone took to it. Same thing, back then with MTV. Anyhow, back to my original point... I believe this song was Freddie consoling the radio saying "someone still loves you" (in the song) because radio was left in the DUST when video came out. Side note... The very FIRST song/music video on MTV was called "Video killed the radio star" by the group "The Buggles". As you can figure out by the title of the song, the radio stars were "killed" bc it was ALL about music videos now (not just the audio of the song). So the VISUAL aspect was now VERY important suddenly and the existing radio stars either jumped on board with this huge change, or they were history.
That's my thesis paper on this song. Lol. PEACE! ❤️🙏

Lex is like "I want to be in that crowd looking back at him". I am so impressed with Lex's understanding of context. I don't know where she gets that understanding because she is spot on with pretty much all her observations. Lex is very perceptive and really grasps things at a different level I haven't seen much lately.

Brad and Lex, I hope you will cover Queen's "These are the Days of our Lives". It was Freddie's last recorded singing performance. It's heartbreaking but true to Freddie's form, done well!

So surprised you can't understand what he's singing. His pronunciation is immaculate from his boarding school upbringing. Always incredibly precise. You should watch the whole Live Aid set. And Lex is right THE MOST. No comparison. This is the first time this song was performed live and the audience knew what to do from the video and surprised Queen with their perfect participation :)

An interviewer once asked Freddy Mercury what he played in the band.
    His response?
    "The audience, darling."
Elton John was the act that came after Queen finished their set. Legend has it that when they finished, he exclaimed, "You *bastards!* How is *anyone* supposed to follow that!"

This concert was July of 1985 - I was 15 and staying at my grandparents farm in upstate NY. It's hard to explain how huge this concert was, the entire world tuned in for the whole day. Listening to this on a little transistor radio with headphones in the middle of a field - and it was thrilling then, half a world away in the middle of a field on shitty radio. I can't imagine how it must've been to be there. It was history. Every time I see this I get chills.. every, damn, time. Glad you enjoyed this. ;)

Please the whole Live Aid set!!!! 🙌🙌 I would love you to look into some lyrics from Queen songs. Some of the songs are very deep and have strong lyrics. That’s why I love them, they made many great performances but also made in depth music. If you’ve reacted the whole Live Aid i really suggest One Vision live at Wembley or Who wants to live forever live at Budapest. Much bless darlings

Queen brings me such happy memories because I always associate queen with hearing them through baseball stadium speakers as a kid with my dad. As I grew older I grew a appreciation for how big of a impact Freddy and Queen had on music in general absolute Legends even though people have watered down that word now but Freddy and Queen are Legends in music and pop culture history
