He is very good. Unfortunately this scene doesn't best utilise his talents. They were breaking the Yes and rule, and trying too hard to force him to respond to feed lines. I feel like sometimes they would be better served just letting the talent be their character and only using the script as a backup for when the character wasn't very funny.
@@TheShamansQuestion I quit watching the Aussie version half way through one of the recent episodes because I just couldn't take it anymore. It was yet another person where the whole joke seemed to be that they stammered and struggled to think of a remotely funny response to every feed line. Australian comedians seem to be really terrible at improv. Only like two, or maybe three, have been able to take charge of the scene and become the character.
"This (circling the UK) is our country, basically, here. And (circling Germany) this is the enemy. And (circling France) this lot we're not sure about." 🤣🤣🤣
"Why would we bomb a cheese factory" "Because when I say we bomb a cheese factory, we bomb a cheese factory. It's facism that we're fighting you know, SO YOU ALL DO WHAT I SAY!" LMAO!!!!
This was great, didn't fly in the UK as most our actors comedians couldn't improvise to save themselves. Hats off to Clive Anderson and Hamish Blake tho who are just naturals at this kinda thing. Frank Skinner and Frankie Boyle would be amazing in this.
i think its funny how in australia everyone loooves Hamish but in the uk their a bit like 'meh, he's okay' lol but im aussie and i love hamish and i think he really is bloody funny!
Not many Aussie comedians are good at improv. There was only a handful that really shone on the Australian version of the show. The majority were stumbling from feed line to feed line struggling to think of a joke, rather than becoming the character and taking ownership of the scene. Josh Lawson is a standout, and Angus Sampson. Shaun Micallef is a bit hit and miss (at improv, he is one of Australia's funniest people in general) but when he hits it he knocks it out of the park. Even in this clip you can see that they didn't really give Clive the best opportunity. Instead of letting him be the character and gently guiding him along a trajectory they kept forcing it back to a script. He was funny, but could have been funnier.
My two favorite people, Michael McIntyre and Hamish Blake, on stage together. Oh. My. God.
This is the first time I see Clive Anderson not sitting behind a desk. I love it!!! :D:D
Never knew Clive to be so quick. He's a great improviser!

@@headlessnotahorseman agree with this a lot. Happens in the Aussie version too.

Hamish is on the UK one? Omg! I never knew that. Thanks for uploading.

We love you Hamish!! Our best Aussie entertainer ever!!
"hamish is it easier now you've done it before?" he's done it seven times on the aussie one, does nobody know who he is?
"Why would we bomb a cheese factory"
"Because when I say we bomb a cheese factory, we bomb a cheese factory. It's facism that we're fighting you know, SO YOU ALL DO WHAT I SAY!"
LMAO!!!!
"It's fascism we're fighting, you know, so you all do WHAT I SAY!"
Clive is brilliant! XD
"What's on the menu today?"
"Well the usual thing, whale meat again..."
Just brilliant wordplay. : D
I loved this programme when it was on ITV :')
Thanks for uploading this. I'm never gonna stop watching it :D

Wow! It is so strange seeing Paul Merton as a host and Clive Anderson as contestant.
Very good indeed.
Just came from the Russian version of the show. From whatvi can understand due my limited english it was really funny and smart! And very good acting.
I’m also Russian and I watch this program all the time. Hilarious! Привет тебе!
Haha! Clive doing improv!
wow... that hamish guys gorgeous :D
Wow! Clive is excellent at improv! That suit looks good on him too (not so sure about the lip warmer though...)
Clives really good.
He's showing the british people how we do things back home.
Aussie Aussie Aussie
Ah Bugger It, You Want To Head To The Pub Later?
have to admit that this is superior to US version and perfecty watchable... but yeah some aussie perfomers have had time to perfect it already..

I love Hamish :D Only seen him at youtube, but he is so funny ^^
Wow... never seen this program, looks hilarious!
He only appeared on the first two episodes of season one of the UK TGYH.

Pity Hamish cant go on the Aussie version now that it has changed channnels
love hamish omg!!!!!
awesome :D
i agree with everyone, australian version kicks every other versions arse
Ah, Paul Merton in his post-cocain "i'm a useless host" phase.
and this scene is exactly the same as Bob Franklin's. this is funny but bob franklin's is the one of the best
OMG the guy should've said THIS IS SPARTA!
Lol great vids
yay for Working Dog for selling a great aussie show world wide
When did hamish blake go 2 england??
Yea, the Aussie one is the original, then came the American one...which sorta bombed out
Clive Anderson was seriously funny!
What year was this from?
I thought he came on this season, or am I mistaken
why is hamish on uk tgyh? i didnt even know ppl knew him over there
Starts at 4.52.
Do you know whether this one or the American one came first?
Clive's accent suits his outfit perfectly! Tally ho chaps and all that :)
ill wave!! lol!! haha
Yeah, the original (Aussie) version is the best.
I'm english and I agree totaly
My God, Sally Lindsey is hot!
HAHA! So Clive Anderson is on PAUL's show! Now that's rich! I remember Whose Line where it was the other way around!
This whole segment was ripped off of the Australian version.
which thank god your here came first australia UK or USA. i think it was australia
As far as I know the other actors are all given a script to follow, but they recruit experiencded improvisers so they can play off the guest
@cokeadict619 no it isant but it should come back on
Did anyone notice how the British audience seems to laugh and stop laughing all at the same time? Kinda weird
clive is pretty gd
the hells hamish doin there? hes aussie. and onthe aussie version
role reversal...paul merton hosting whilst clive does improv.
This seems so cruel to me... God how I love it.
ABC is different to channel 7, 7 wont want him because hes signed with 10. ABC lets anyone on from anywhere
I think that the other people have a basic plot line too follow and their good at improv
Hamish Blake is my favorite of all
lol micheal is soooooooooo funny love him hes prob a english version of hamish GOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo ENGLANG HAIL BRITANIA BRITANIA RULEZ THE WORLD:)
zomg, to spell correctly is to succeed.
hamish rips da shit
paul merton kicks the aussie hosts ass
Boring, this is worse than the Australian tgyh
Sorry you don't comprehend wit and intelligent comedy.
Hamish is special. He is a gift for the world to enjoy
Lol oi Poms do your own writing and get your own scenarios!
Pauls funnier, but he dosnt have that odd voice like Shane Bourne
Paul is a terrible presenter. Even based on Clive
