You need to show in some detail this joystick’s ability to track movement. The operator needs to be able to smoothly pan across a stage while a speaker is slowly walking, or just show a variety of different movement scenarios. In past joystick videos someone grabs the stick and you just see that the camera can move. It’s almost always X or Y but never both. It’s never zoomed in where small movements are more difficult. Show how this stick controls the camera at multiple zoom levels. The gen3 controller is so difficult to use in this regard I have an easier time with ptz with an xkeys. There is a huge dead space where the stick can move almost a quarter inch from center and there’s no camera movement. Zooming is the same. You never know when the camera is going to start moving.

How about that feature as part of the camera rather than the controller? Some of the cameras has facial or person movement and can follow

Mike - I'm glad you're also one to notice that in any video, even user posted ones. I didn't get a chance to try the previous generation but we have been shopped around - We saw a lot of the same experience with some of the joy sticks we tried but essentially we've stuck to the $10 iPad app. Even with the iPad app or the PTZ Windows app, set PT speed to the slowest speed, we've had issue with tracking speakers. The slowest speed at the distance we have them is still too fast. I fear the cameras just simply aren't capable of going slower. With the joysticks we've tried, deadzone / binary-like action of smoothly moving from no motion to full speed prevents us from doing anything more than setting presets and choosing them when the camera is not live. We'd love to implement more action to bring more emotion into the camera work of our production.

As for auto-tracking, I'm really surprised an open source camera control program hasn't been made to do it. I don't know how to code but it's prevalent enough that it's surprising we haven't seen something like that floating around OBS.

Joystick is in the name and it's what it is. It should do that job the best. I won't buy another joystick of any brand until I can try it at least. I know I can't replicate a live person camera operator but it needs to be better than using a keyboard or game console controller for the same ptz control.

      Hello!
The PTZOptics SuperJoy Controller is designed to be a versatile PTZ camera controller, compatible with a variety of camera brands and models. It primarily supports cameras that use VISCA, VISCA over IP, Pelco-D, or Pelco-P protocols for PTZ control.
However, the compatibility of the PTZOptics SuperJoy Controller specifically with the Cisco Precision 1080p X12 camera may not be guaranteed. Cisco Precision cameras typically use their own control protocols, which might not be fully compatible with standard PTZ control protocols like VISCA.
      Alternatives and Recommendations:
      Cisco Camera Controllers:
Using a Cisco-designed controller or a software solution recommended by Cisco would ensure full compatibility with the Precision 1080p X12 camera.
      Universal PTZ Controllers:
There are universal PTZ controllers in the market that are designed to work with a wide range of camera brands and models. Before purchasing, it's crucial to confirm the specific compatibility with Cisco Precision cameras.
      Software-Based Control Solutions:
Some video conferencing or streaming software platforms offer integrated camera control features. Check if the software you are using for your video setup offers control options for Cisco cameras.
      Third-Party Control Systems:
There are third-party control systems and devices that can be programmed to work with a variety of cameras. These often require a more complex setup and a good understanding of control protocols.
      Contacting Cisco Support:
For the most accurate advice and recommendations, consider reaching out to Cisco support. They can provide guidance on compatible control systems for their Precision series cameras.
      Community Forums and User Groups:
Sometimes, users in specialized forums or groups related to PTZ cameras or Cisco products might have insights or experiences to share regarding compatible controllers.
In summary, while the PTZOptics SuperJoy Controller is a versatile device, its compatibility with the Cisco Precision 1080p X12 camera is not certain. It's advisable to research further, consult with Cisco, or consider controllers known to be compatible with Cisco PTZ cameras.

Is the joystick analog, nice, gradual control or is it on or off?

Hi Dirk, this joystick features both analog and digital connection options. But, either way you connect, it will be smooth for camera operation.

@@PTZOptics Not the answer to the question I meant to ask ;) Is the joystick on or off, or gradual. Can I go up at 50% speed when I push the joystick halfway?

@@DirkAlblas I see, yes you can. Just checked.

So, just to ask this once more because it's a really big deal, and it isn't mentioned in the videos. Is the speed of the camera pan and tilt variable, based on how far off-center you have moved the joystick knob? When operating in IP control mode. If so, I'll go order it today. The video talks about making micro adjustments of focus, but can we make micro adjustments of pan and tilt?
