The distortion in this gives Bugman an unforgettable vibe which results to a more punk-like genre. This song doesn't appeal to everybody but is a proper jam. Don't get me wrong though, Tender is a perfectly fine song, nothing wrong with it; but I prefer Bugman's, "ear-rapey" riffs and raw sound rather than Tender's soft guitar. Is this the first recorded instance of the term "Bugman" being used together with a description of behavior associated with atomized, spiritually and intellectually neutered postmodern life? It's a recurring theme in Blur's music, so I doubt this this song is some intentional way-ahead-of-its-time coining of the term, but it seems like they could have coined it accidentally here, decades before anyone else did.
