      I have been in the market and am curious. How did you decide on this company over Rec Room World Ultra VP or Xtreme Gaming Cabinets which although based out of Australia people have high praise for their pinball .

    • @JMGENTERPRISES
      @JMGENTERPRISES  2 роки тому +9

      @@PowerNGlory - I looked at both those builders. The Ultra VP has a 49" monitor which is way oversized. I wanted a virtual pinball that more closely resembled the size of an authentic pinball. The 43" screen makes the cabinet pretty darn close to normal size. Some people want oversized pinballs and that is fine but that's what I wanted. Also, Ultra VP uses lexan and not real glass over the playfield. I wanted real glass. They also don't have LED matrix or LED strips in the playfield which I wanted. And of course their prices are way higher than the pinball king.
      Xtreme makes some cool looking machines but I reached out to them twice. Once via email and the other via phone and left a voicemail. They never got back to me. This made me reluctant to purchase from them because I worried how difficult it would be to get tech support if I needed it. I feel like if it's hard to get in touch with them when you are an eager customer wanting to purchase, how hard will it be to get customer support? Also, I didn't want to spend the $1,500-2000 dollars for shipping. For me, the pinball king was just a better choice. Cheaper, easy to get in touch with, knowledgeable and friendly. The cabinet checked all my boxes.

      I love real pinball machines. This virtual thing is cool, but I can't stop thinking its a vast of money as VR have entered the pinball space for only a fraction of the cost you get a virtual 3D version that is far superior to a screen. Try given this a try? the Quest 2 with FX pinball.

    • @JMGENTERPRISES

      @@Descenter1976 - I hear what your saying. I have the Oculus 2 and the FX2 app. It is pretty cool. From what I heard, I am able to connect my Oculus to my new virtual pinball cabinet and use the flipper buttons to control it along with feeling all the solenoids etc. Pretty cool. Kind of like a mixed reality. I haven't tried this yet but can see doing so soon.

    I’m real big on the idea of having a functioning coin slot on the dream-rig I hope to eventually get. With every table imaginable at your disposal, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and take it all for granted. Being limited to the number of quarters I can acquire throughout the day makes me enjoy my limited time with the tables like when I was a kid and every turn at the table was a treat to be savored. The unlimited access we enjoy today makes most of us fail to even enjoy one table properly. In a way, it was better being limited to whatever single table your local pizza shop had. Cause you’d give it the time it deserves and learn all of its secrets.

      The physics simulation is absolutely incredible nowadays.
      Some pinball games that are marketed for pc gamers, like "pinball fx", can feel a little unrealistic (and it tends to make the experience much easier), but visual pinball (VPX) that most of these machines run, is very accurate. They behave incredibly realistically.

    First off, great video. You did a stellar job and seem like a great guy. Should have mentioned your MM you paid 8k for us probably worth 12-14 now. One thing that’s a sore spot for the table creators are guys like the pinball king that package up our software we work for free on (sometimes for years) and profit off it. Even the front end that table uses wasn’t meant to be sold. I helped create several of the tables on your machine. The stranger things on there isn’t a real pin, it’s an original by my friend Scotty wic. Took him a year but was never meant to be sold. Anyway, enjoy, it is a fun hobby. You can hook VR Headset up to it to make it even more real. That’s a game changer

    This is an amazing pinball game! The 4K screen is unbelievably vivid in its wonderful display of the playing field. I grew up in the pre-video era and I would spend fistfuls of quarters at an arcade full of banks of pinball machines. I first got hooked on pinball in my native New England when I played pinball at Ocean Beach Park in New London. That was in 1972. Pinball was banned in New York City(!) until 1976. Anyhow, back to this virtual pinball game. It would be interesting if an arcade or entertainment center featured these intriguing machines, considering the vivid displays, a superb selection of games, and the low maintenance. A great video demonstration of a great incarnation of pinball!

    Looks fun, but having played one, I'm convinced the real thing is never going to be replaced. If they can get 3D to work better it might make some more converts. I heard someone was experimenting with Xbox's Kinect technology to track your head and adjust the position of the playfield accordingly. If that can be perfected, I would definitely like to give it another go. The other hang-up I have is that the screen refresh is too low. It needs to be 120Hz or better for the ball movement to look more realistic. Some people use ball trails to make up for the stilted look of the ball travelling at higher speeds, but that just reminds you you're not playing a real pinball machine. When you pulled the plunger, the delayed response on the monitor tells me the processor is not fast enough. Looks like people are definitely working out these problems though, so I'm looking forward to what they come up with in a few years.

      In the 2k, Microsoft was allegedly working on an portable Xbox with eye tracking technology to make 3D games. This never went further than hearsay, though (photo of the concept + explanations in a magazine). It doesn't seems it can be found on the internet though.

    • @vette21man
      @vette21man 2 роки тому +2

      Great points about refresh rate. The issue will not only be in having a display with native 120Hz, but the games will need to support 120fps too. Not sure the game developers had higher than 60fps in mind. Fortunately, the 1660ti GPU may be able to handle 120fps with mostly static pinball.
      I believe what you are referring to with the plunger is input lag, which would mostly be the display’s fault. So getting a native 120Hz display with low input lag will likely add a few hundred dollars.

      $4000 AUD sounds pretty reasonable. As does 1080 games! Do they have a showroom where you can perhaps play it before you purchase it? 3/4 cabinets are considerably smaller than the original pinballs. I guess that could be good if you are trying to save space and/or costs. But I would think it would take slightly away from the original feeling of a full size cabinet. Another option would be to look into a Pinsim which is used for VR pinball but still feels real. Look up PinSims on UA-cam and you will see what they are! Best of luck on what you decide on :-)

    I'm having trouble wrapping my head around a 1660ti being an upgraded graphics card! Do you not feel the ball is laggy due to a lower frame rate? I need to go to his site, if I did this, I'd demand a 120-144hz main screen, so you can get more fluid motion.

    • @JMGENTERPRISES
      @JMGENTERPRISES  2 роки тому +1

      Well as you probably know, graphics cards are really hard to come by these days. Michael said a 1660 Super would more than handle the 4k at 60hz. I did not mention this in my video but my phones camera can only do 1080p at 30fps. In the video, it may appear less smooth than it actually is. I recently bought a new Sony camera which can do 4k and I will be doing another video soon. I've played a virtual pinball at 120hz and honestly cannot see the difference between that and a 60hz. Perhaps, I just don't have the eye for it. I am sure if you wanted to pay more, The Pinball King would install a 120-144hz screen.

      @@JMGENTERPRISES From what Ive read, face tracking isnt widely supported, it was something one of the programmers tried with an xbox connect hooked up to the pc, but only worked on a couple tables and never got developed any farther. What you should really consider, though you may have to upgrade your video card again, its borderline close enough specs for it, is adding vr support. Thats available for most of the tables from what my research has told me. While Ive never played a virtual pin, or one in vr yet, I play other games in vr all the time and its amazing. Add in the tactile feedback from your table and the actual physical buttons and table to lean against, I bet it will be as close to real pinball as you can get. Are the USB ports on the computer easily accessible if one wanted to add new tables onto the machine? The GPU is not what makes it "load" quick, that's the SSD hard drive. The GPU is the clarity, crispness and responsiveness of the displays (the displays themselves obviously contribute).
    Just saying it's an i5 doesn't mean much as i3/i5/i7 have a lot of generations now, could be 12 years old and have 8 GB of sub 2000mhz DDR3 ram inside.
    I'm not sure if you have access to the operating system or not ;but if you do I'd check the display resolution myself to verify it's actually set to 4k, also getting performance stats (fps,cpu usage/temp, gpu usage/temp) included in the video would do a good job of showing people how the unit is performing.

    Great video bud. I just ordered from RECROOM WORLD 7.0. 4K 49”
    Playfield topper monitor, strobes, it even has a blower on it for games like twister. Mike at Pinball king is a great guy, very knowledgeable. However he puts some dated technology into his machines, and his build times were 6 months to a year last time I talked with him. Roland over at RECROOM is top notch. Quick to respond, knowledgeable, direct with cost and invoicing. On top of that they put in far superior tech all the way around. 30 day lead time… 30 days! The other thing that bothered me with his tables are the dot matrix LED’s. Very distracting all the way around. Some people may like that however. Pinball coming back is great!

      1 - I paid around $6,500 for mine with shipping. Models vary
      2 - It felt pretty heavy. Don't know the exact weight. However, my buddy and I were able to lift it and walk to around the back side of my house through my dual sliding doors without issue.
      3 - Don't know about price for repairs. I spoke with many of the pinball kings other clients and they have had their games for years without issues. Michael is pretty friendly and I am sure would help diagnose and help with repairs.
      4 - I recently purchased and installed 99 new FX3 tables. I would give Michael a call and he can help answer this question better. Let him know Jeff sent ya :-)
      5 - Yes it does tilt. I show this in my video. I do not know if it is adjustable.
      6 - The only thing I suppose I dislike if I had to choose is the flipper buttons are about 1/2" lower on the virtual pinball versus the my real pinball. I guess I am just use to the location on my real pinball, so I had to get use to the new flipper locations. But not a big deal. I may install a "blockanator" shield that prevents the LED matrix from being reflected on the playfield at the top. I know the LED matrix can be lowered in brightness as well as turned off completely, but I like it very bright!

      @@JMGENTERPRISES Short story first: Been in the hobby a number of years. Like many, started out with some inexpensive (at the time) 70's pins. Some EM, some solid state, and even a (pole) barn find in great shape. Slowly bought and sold. Not a flipper, and always sold for a very fair price (wasn't in it for a profit, just to enjoy - wife enjoys playing too). Was lucky enough to get reasonable deals too when buying. I'm an electrical engineer, so I could handle any problems myself, plus all the repair guides on the internet helped immensely. So rinse and repeat the buy/sell story over the years until I somehow ended up with modern pins. The goal being when I retired (which I recently did), that the hobby would be mostly self-sustaining (i.e. buy/sell or trade for pretty much break even). Another goal was to have all very different pins. Some fast, some slow, and some a little stop 'n go. Some hard/easy/brutal/deep. It's really just a hobby that we both enjoy.
      With the crazy asking price today for pins, I'd hate to just be starting in the hobby. Good to see the pin hobby exploding in popularity, but with a limited supply combined with COVID supply chain issues...ouch in the wallet. So a VP pin is somewhat appealing as a way to play a bigger variety. Always amazed at the quality of the table emulation. Wouldn't replace the real table (for me), but I definitely think I'd enjoy a VP.
      So to answer your question:
      Batman66
      Houdini
      Stern Jurassic Park
      Turtles
      The Walking Dead
      Stern StarTrek
      Ghostbusters
      Dialed In
      Iron Maiden
      Munsters
      Stern are all Pro's (except BM66) - better deals and good enough for me. Premium are rather expensive and are getting worse.
