I barely want to watch 2 hour movies... even good ones. I can't imagine watching a 3 hour wrestling program with commercials twice a week. You MIGHT get a total of 30 minutes of entertaining content. Sounds like torture.

Coming soon: Ten hour episodes of Smackdown featuring endless commercials, promotion of Prime drinks, 20-minute entrances for everybody, endless backstage "comedy" skits, and more flips and dives and Cirque De Soleil.

WWE got all their hardcore fans back that Vince McMahon’s bad later creative chased off. It’s not back to Attitude era success. However, WWE is more valuable than ever with TV Streaming. WWE live events have cities all over the country and the world bidding cash to host. Attitude era couldn’t do multiple stadiums a year. Pop culture juggernaut though that will never happen again
they put Smackdown on a channel that a lot of us can't even watch since Hulu put all WWE products on their $70 per month tier. I will be getting Netflix to watch Raw in January, but as it stands Smackdown doesn't even exist anymore. I'm about ready to cancel my Peacock subscription since the premium stuff isn't going to make any sense without the weekly shows. I think they screwed their fans over
They had all sorts of wrestling shirts in Walmart for the kids. Dx, Kane, Undertaker, Rock, Austin, Mankind, Goldberg, Sting, Ddp. You are not going to see anybody wearing a shirt with a wrestler on it today. Last time I seen a wrestling shirt at Walmart was like 2 years ago and idk how it was there but it was a HBK vs Austin WM 14 shirt and I bought it
I understand from a business perspective what WWE is doing but 3 hours of Raw was too much. Just imagine WrestleMania week how much hourly content that will be.
Unfortunately, this isn't gonna stop unless TKO's stock price tanks. As long as WWE is able to work the marks and networks out of their money, nothing about this product is going to change.
@@danielsims916 Attitude Era was only 25 years ago. And your argument is so weak. You're saying that they shouldn't go back to doing a show that regularly got 8 million viewers a week. You think what they're currently doing is working? 1.3 million and falling. And don't give me that 'world has changed" nonsense. When The Rock was back earlier this year they got their highest ratings in years. It's not about being "kid friendly" either because there's hardly any kids at the shows. Take a look at the audience. Mostly adults. It has been proven that people want an edgier product, but Triple H marks like you will continue to praise what he does as the ratings fall below one million...
@James-if3kc You're both wrong, there is no going forward and there is no going back. The world is in too much chaos for wrestling to substitute as "entertainment" anymore. And as long as the digital age keeps going the way it's going, people will always choose to watch something else.
I love more hours of raw and smackdown I just browse my phone during the boring parts and fast forward I have no issue with them adding an extra hour...all the benefit to the fans
Using the Nielsen ratings to justify anything and it's just a waste of time since we're all going to netflix. And being upset for a third hour of SmackDown is basically insulting the talent because now other people will have a chance for some TV time. In the biggest thing WWE fans do not watch anything from Tony khan. And making a comparison saying a match in all Elite is the same as WWE is a complete insult.
I enjoy Russo's takes on AEW but his WWE takes are very much 'old man yells at clouds'. WWE is a publicly traded company. All there information is available to you. They are selling shows at a higher rate than they have in years (at least 6 years). At higher ticket prices than ever before (even accounting for inflation). Every international PLE seems to be new 'biggest arena gate ever'. They are making well over 300 million dollars per quarter (every 3 months), something close to 1.4 billion per year. Yes most of that is the licensing fees (and it always was), but these networks are not giving them money for shits and giggles. WWE programming is the number 1 thing on USA Network and they want a 3rd hour. And their Netflix deal hasn't even started yet. Which is a massive audience waiting for them (especially internationally). Also I understand that Russo for years was dictated by TV ratings. It was everything. It was everything to wrestlers at the time. But WWE legit has the biggest audience and most people watching than ever before. And that is proven by there 'social media' numbers. Specifically UA-cam. They are the 9th most watched UA-cam channel in the world. Only things more watched are Music Video channels (mostly Indian and Kid MVs). You don't get those numbers by same 100,000 people watching the same videos a 100 times. Their international audience is legit massive. And they are mostly a UA-cam audience.
They have more people watching than ever before? Such an absurd, baseless assertion 😅😂 We can all look at the published viewership over the last 25 years, and see a continuous downward spiral. The fact that they're making money does not mean the product isn't miserable and unwatchable to anyone with an IQ over 90.
