Exactly, you have pronounce the "C"s, "K"s, "H"s "F"s "SH"s, "CH"s, "T"s, "S"s and "X"s in order to get the words to sound correctly. Like in the word "happy" you have to make a "Hhh" sound and then mouth the word "-appy". I'm a huge Daft Punk fan and I do mention them in most of my talk box videos! I do believe their go to instruments for vocals are the talk box and a vocoder. When I think of a talk box the first person that comes to mind is Roger Troutman from the 80's - 90's but there has been many great talk box players before him as well. When I think of modern talk box musicians I think of Daft Punk and Mr. Talk Box. Theres a lot of UA-cam talk box musicians that are a big inspiration to me as well 🔥🔥🔥
A talk box is not a midi Instrument, you record the audio on a talk box the same way you record a person singing because a talk box is acoustic sound coming from your mouth, not a digital signal. A talk box has an input for the synthesizer signal goin into the talk box, it also has a output for bypass reasons if you’re using a guitar and want to bypass the talk box once your done using it. And yes you are right, there is no output for processed sound because the sound is essentially acoustic, you would record someone playing a talk box the same way you would record an acoustic instrument or a vocal track.

so normally we generate sound pressure with our lungs and we expel it out and then we enunciate with our face/tongue/etc, and the final sound comes out of our mouth. we can catch the sound with a mike and direct it to an amp. we all know this.. now... with the talk box we know the sound pressure goes in your mouth. you mouth the words with your face/tongue/whatever. my question is then... does the final sound come out of your mouth (then into microphone then amp)? or does the final sound just come out of the amp and nothing comes out of your mouth besides air?

I always tell people that you can't mention the talkbox without mentioning my boy Fingazz aka Fingadelic, I high recommend you check him out if you love the talkbox, he's also the inventor of the new TalkStar talkbox
It will work the same way as an electric guitar but you might want to play higher on the fretboard. A regular electric guitar would be ideal but a bass would work too. Add some effect petals and you'll have a blast!
Agreed! They are not exactly the same but I think the concept of how they both work share similar physics. You can get the same result by putting the speaker on your phone up to your mouth while its playing a song. You can kind of mouth the words like a talk box that way.
But i dont get how sound can travel down the tube , into the mouth and out to the mic, .. Cause i thought when something makes a sound, the sound waves just radiate out everywhere,, like a stone thrown onto a pond.. but apparently the talk box is able to channel the sounds waves so specifically into the tube only, and i dont hear any of the regular synthesizer sounds
Great questions! Yes there is a small speaker enclosed inside of the talk box itself. When the synthesizer send a signal to the the talk box it comes out of the speaker. Generally the speaker would radiate the sound everywhere but since it is enclosed in a metal box the sound waves have no where to go except the path of least resistance which is through the tube.

Great questions, you are right though. The sound coming out of my mouth is being recorded through a microphone. When the sound exits the talk box and travels up the tube and into my mouth it becomes an acoustic sound source. The same way an acoustic guitar works in essence. You record a talk box the same way you record an acoustic instrument, with a microphone. Talk boxes are a lot of fun and if you're still skeptical, I suggest picking one up and trying it. So if I were to get one all I need to do is: 1. Ge tthe talkbox 2. Plug the MIDI keyboard's midi to usb cable (which should come with the Akai you used) into the talk box 3. Turn the midi keyboard on and press notes down, and i know how to do the mout hthing..

Up until at least 1:43 I will would have no idea what a talk box even sounds like. Also, a little more excitement in your voice would be nice haha. Can you use just a regular keyboard?
Technically yes but it wont give you the same sound. A synthesizer with a saw wave is the most common used way of getting a talk box style sound.

When the sound exits the talk box and travels up the tube and into my mouth it becomes an acoustic sound source. The same way an acoustic guitar works in essence. You record a talk box the same way you record an acoustic instrument, with a microphone.

Yes, the sound from coming out of your mouth will be the same note that you play on the keyboard.

I dont believe so, you need an instrument to provide the sound source for the talk box.

So if I were to get one all I need to do is:
1. Ge tthe talkbox
2. Plug the MIDI keyboard's midi to usb cable (which should come with the Akai you used) into the talk box
3. Turn the midi keyboard on and press notes down, and i know how to do the mout hthing..
Correct, although I reccomend using a hardware synthesizer like a MicroKORG instead of a midi keyboard w/ software.
Hey man! Cool content for a video! But, I was losing interest pretty quickly. I feel like you could have shown talkbox examples instead of listing/talking about it. Up until at least 1:43 I will would have no idea what a talk box even sounds like. Also, a little more excitement in your voice would be nice haha. It's hard for me to be excited about something if you don't seem excited about it.
