  • Dragged the little homemade caravan in to the East Macdonnell Ranges in the Northern Territory for some awesome walks. I was blown away by how beautiful this area was, and how few people were there in peak season compared to the West Macdonnell. In this episode i stayed at Trephina gorge campground, walked John hayes rock hole, turner lookout, and visited arltunga historic mining town.
Haven’t seen the 20 part caravan build series? Check it out in the channel!

John Hayes is awesome when it rains and the creek flows with waterholes every 50 metres. Frogs, even leeches in the largest waterhole.

I’d love to see that. Be great to swim on the walk - well maybe without leeches!

Great video. We went there in 2018. Trephina Gorge camping area is one of the best in Australia. The Scenery at dusk was incredible. Bonus having water available there.

Cardio, cardio, cardio. :) Just love the East McDonnells Ranges, so much beauty with so few tourists. Nice episode mate you're definitely starting to find a groove. Keep going!

    Magnificent.
Those rock formations looked carved into bricks then stacked...love to know how that occurred.
I couldn't help thinking the Macdonnell Ranges were originally high and I imagine lush and with flowing rivers ,oh, I don't know, a billion years ago, so going through the Ranges now is like walking inside the mountains back then - if that makes any sense.
Thanks for the look around and a bit of the info for the area. Thanks too for the map link...I try to follow your movements from description and the road signs and other footage in your videos on Google maps.
Avenza maps - good to know, thanks (from your reply to another comment).

It feels prehistoric walking around there for sure, waiting for T-rex to come galloping around the corner. I’m trying to figure out how to add cool maps to Final Cut Pro editing - there’s a few paid add on options but they don’t get very good reviews. I see a few UA-camrs do some cool things with tracing their path in maps but I’m still in learner mode with anything other than the basics.

Avenza - it’s free, and can download maps from their store in the app. Heaps of free maps, some you have to pay a few dollars for. Don’t need signal to show where you are either.
