    For Telus, Bell, Koodo and Virgin Mobile we found the cell service to be virtually non existent. The only service we could get was near the registration office. If you have a different cell service provider or have other experience with cell phone service at this park please leave a comment to assist others.

      I’m not sure why the biggest cell provider in Canada is never mentioned? In none of your reviews?
      Seasonal campers there watch live TV with Rogers $49 box
      Cell phone service perfect with Roger’s
      The best bike trail anywhere was not mentioned?

      @@br31000 we don't mention Rogers because we don't use Rogers therefore we can't tell you how it's working. Bell, Telus, Koodo and Virgin Mobile all use the same cell towers so with our Koodo cell service we can comment on all of them. Some of our friends use Rogers so when they are with us we'll say how Rogers is working.

      We live 2kms just down the road from the Long Sault Parkway. Cell service with all carriers has been terrible this season. We are with Telus and have made several complaints regarding the matter. They sent out a service team and apparently there was an issue with the tower (not sure of the details) but it has been resolved as of 1.5 weeks ago. Great campsites, you should try Lakeview Campsite. It is just across the road from the Parkway and has an inground pool

      @@620JK seasonal campers at MacLaren have suffered all these years with no service ( Telus)
      Now most have the Roger’s Nokia tower and have all channels available. $50 for 500 gig.
      It’s really changed their camping now. Very good signal with Rogers
      You can try one free 15 days. Wifi to 10 devices. It’s all we have now …. Bring it from house to campsite… across Ontario

    From quebec, stayed at Farrens campground just a couple days prior, really enjoyed it on our trip to Niagra. Nice stop off the 401. Stayed at Mclaren couple years ago. Always enjoyed our stays. Keep doing what your doing!

    Have been watching you guys for years now and glad to see your in our neck of the woods. We started camping with the kids at Mclaren eons ago and still go back, also Woodlands and Farran(full service sites). Great review and hope to see you on the road sometime. Nice well trained pup you got as well.

    We have done all of the campgrounds in the Parks of the St Lawrence and MacLeran and Farran are our favourites! We love the views, waterfront access, amazing bike trails and the large and well maintained lots. And if you can book dock the waterfront lots are so private and amazing! We have done many PP’s and we like Algonquin, Charleston Lake and Bon Echo but we find that most lots in PP are closed in and without a view.

    Thanks for the great review as always! We will look in future to kayak with our pup Checkers. However we struggled with lack of boundaries of other campers walking through our campsites too. We were next to the west comfort station. Dave is normally very laid back lol but he used his assertive "army" voice asking a couple of ladies who walked between our truck and camper, he said hello 2x they ignored him then he asked if they were enjoying our campsite lol omg I was like um I scared now😂... lol another group went through our friends site late at night 11 ish talking loudly, and Daisy their dog barked at them she was in the tent with her female family members teen and 9 year old included.. the people plodding through yelled at them to keep their dog under control lol going through our friends site, so ya that was😅 the first time we encountered these rude and lack of boundaries even from other PSL locations 😅Glengarry, Farran and UCBS too. We are going down this weekend for the day to bike maybe, or kayak lol. Dave wants to camp lol❤

    They use to cut the weeds down in that general area years ago I don't know if they did the campsite area but around cornwall they did as a kid growing up I remember seeing the machines sitting their off old highway 2 towards summerstown. I also remember seeing alot floating in my great grandma backyard on her shoreline. As I got older you could see them and how big they get outside her boathouse.

    We liked this park too. It is different from Provincial parks, and privacy is non existent, but we felt it had other great attractions that made up for it. Good review!

    We are currently getting ready to leave McLaren after a six day stay. Thanks for the detailed review! Your insights were spot on. We too were surprised at the looser regard for boundaries but the campsites were very large. That the dump station so close to campsites was a surprise but luckily we had a site similar to yours. Some family members had a cabin which was nice and clean. We too visited the dam visitors centre- impressive. 7.5 is accurate as we missed hiking trails but paddle boarding over old roads and structures was fascinating. We would recommend for sure and glad we experienced this part of Ontario!

    When we stayed there we got a campsite right on the waterfront. There’s no power at them and it’s a bit of a pain to level the trailer but then you have a bit of privacy because there’s no one between you and the water. We really enjoyed having the water right in front of us. But even there occasionally people would wander along the shoreline right through our campsite. Unlike at provincial parks people don’t seem to respect the unwritten rule that you don’t walk on other people’s campsites.

    We stayed there last year and I agree with you about the rating despite the privacy there's so much to see and do. A very beautiful area all very well maintained. Really enjoyed the dam and everything else in the area. Would be great to have electric bikes to get around.

    I like this park for our once a year group fmaily camping trip because we can spread out between our sites. Yes everyone just walks everywhere which is annoying but the lack of borders works for congrgating as a group around our sites which we like to get all close together. Im working on my vlog video for this as im watching 😊

    • @CampingwiththeColes

      It would be great for that type of camping. It's like group camping but everyone is on their own site.

    I would like to know if the SLP had a heads up prior to your arrival. We did a drive through a few weeks prior to your visit and it was not as well maintained. The usual poor quality of the grounds and maintenance of the washrooms and showers turned us away from all of the campgrounds on the Parkway.

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  5 місяців тому

      Actually yes, they knew we were coming. We don't know if this is the way the park usually looks or not. I can't believe that they would clean everything up for our arrival. I think the cleanliness and maintenance is something that can vary a lot during a season depending on weather, staffing levels etc.

      @@CampingwiththeColes Yes indeed, I fully agree with your points. Thanks for a very fair overview of this location and looking forward to reviewing your previous videos and future ones to help us with our own adventures. Hope the weather holds out for you the rest of the season. Keep up the great work. Cheers.

    I'm surprised that you're rating these parks so high. They remind me of Seasonal RV campgrounds where the sites have no trees, no focus on nature, and NO privacy. You've rated PPs much lower for having these types of sites.

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  5 місяців тому

      I get what you're saying. The campsites and lack of privacy etc but the campsites are just one aspect of our overall rating. These parks have many positives that bring the rating up from just the campsites. The beauty of the Long Sault Parkway, things to do in the area, the paddling, swimming etc.

    • @kathykirshner9206
      @kathykirshner9206 5 місяців тому

      These parks actually do have some seasonal sites. You can see that some people have put up decks and semi permanent structures.
