I have one that's identical to yours that I bought a year ago. I was VERY fortunate; I had never owned an SUV, or a 4WD, and had never even noticed Escapes, but I'm extremely pleased with mine. I'm not an off-roader, but did get stuck in clay mud a couple of weeks ago. Even though I was bottomed out, I was able to work myself out! I can't say how pleased I am with the truck!!
My grandad just bought one very similar to yours. We got it online and tried to get it cheap. It was dirty and needed cleaning badly. We took it home and cleaned it up and its running just fine now. He uses it to get to work everyday and it’s been fine for him.
Thank you for showing the info on the Gen 1 engines and transmission in this Gen 2. I own a 2008 2WD model with the V6 Duratec 3.0 and the CD4E auto 4-speed and I love it! The first thing I did when buying it from the previous owner was to pay my local mechanic/friend to change the spark plugs, coils, gaskets and PCV valve (only accessible with the rear valve cover off) and belts. I changed all the fluids myself and it runs perfectly with 149k miles on it while burning no oil and having no leaks (new gaskets fixed this). The style is functional for carrying things in the real world. Great vehicle!
My parents also have a 2008 XLT in the 4 cylinder model. They bought it brand new 13 years ago and that thing is actually quite the beast. They have never had a single problem with it. It's still going super strong at 154k miles. With gas prices the way that they are now, my parents are not complaining!
Just a few notes. 1. the rims are from a ford explorer, they are not OE rims. 2. The Keypad on the driver door is an option. 3. the button on the rear tailgate was not moved to the lower position until 2010. (Just some things I have noticed being that I own a 2008 and a 2009 escape.)
@@bxstixn_1744 still no problems :) and it was a 2010! i put a lot of mileage on it, around 20k in these past two years and all i’ve needed are oil changes :)
That was a great walkthrough of this vehicle and description. I have a 2010 Ford Escape and this video showed me a few things i didn't know about, like how to fold the seats down or how that plastic piece came out of center counsel. How to open just the glass window on the back hatch. I've only had this car like 3 days. I have a 2010 XLT, so there were a lot of things that were similar to the 2008 model
I am totally mind fucked that the center console doubled as a "trash can" I knew it came out just not that lol. My grandpa had a 2009 XLT with the 2.5 , and that motor didn't feel underpowered at all, but it did also have the 6-Speed
I drove/detailed a Mariner with the 2.6 and 6AT and I thought it drove like garbage- Engine sounded like a blender and it didn't accelerate to save it's life. I would love to see how the V6 felt in comparison!
Hello! Recently I'm thinking about buying an Escape 3.0 4WD, what is your experience? Do you have a problem or problem with this vehicle? Worth it? Tell your experience please. :)
I was wondering if a 3rd row seat can be installed in this model! We are in the processing of buying an 08 Escape, however, we really want a 3rd seat but I can't find anything on it
Thanks for the reply . Im asking because im also buying the same 2008 xlt model as yours. Im paying $8k as well and i wondered if it was a good deal. Its in beautiful condition with 45k miles
Sounds like a good deal to me, just make sure the transmission is all good and has been thoroughly serviced, they have a bad habit of grenading if not taken care of.
77brick77 for a 2008 with 88 K miles the dealership is asking 9976.00? do you think I can get them to come down on it or do you think that is a good deal?
+Stephanie Rochefort Might have something to do with the date in 2008 in rolled of the assembly line. It seems like the older in 2008s might have the newer stuff. That's my thought.
Well, looks like your opinion is already biased against Ford, my personally don't want to hear a reviewer like you trashing a manufacturer with comments like these, if you compare against another manufacturer as far as features is fine but is better for me to keep your own opinions to yourself, be neutral and let the viewers make their own based on the information you provide. What I did see is that your car needs a good cleaning, your seats are all stained and the door panels all dirty.

im trying to get this as my first car, will be good for a college student like me
Joshua The Science god the first things that will probably go wrong are the steering column, throttle body, EVAP codes or something else!
Me too
Hey Guys how long you had it
It’s a great car!
Thanks for throwing mine under the bus man, I have a 08 4-cylinder lol
I'm looking for the 4 banger, I recently heard bad things about the 3 litre V6 about premature major engine failure, besides, I love 4 bangers!
Frederick Moller nah the v6 is good as well. Just stay away from the 1.6L ones and you’ll be golden

Patrick Flatt samee
I might get the one with a 5 speed manual even better mpgs and more zippy
It was a bit under powered when merging on highway with the 2.5 4cyl but it did treat us very well.
Thanks for the center console tip!!
Excellent video!
I love my '05 Ford Escape Limited V6
I about to buy my frist car and I’m getting this in 2023
Same car and color. Just bought it used so far no problems
Man I cant wait to turn 15 to get my permit and maybe getting a vehicle like this or a F150 😄
My step grandparents bought this brand new in 2008 and I thought this was so futuristic
'09 rear hatch and glass controls are in the same place. They were moved in '10 due to rust/corrosion issues.
You say the 2008 doesn’t have the numbers on the driver door… but mine is literally the same model as yours, and my has code numbers on the door.
Great review!! Very detailed, covered everything you need to know about the car! oh, and the 08 Limited models have the little unlocking keypad :)
I just bought an 08 xlt and it has the keypad. But it's a higher trim level with sunroof and some extras.
Ford's keyless entry has been around for years. I have it on my 2011 Escape XLT.
I heard that the 4 speed had trans cooling issues, and a lot of people claimed broken AC before 50k
It’s soo clean 🤤
Very nice!
My cousin has a 08 escape mint blue gloss he painted the rims and grill matte black

Buyers beware. The 2009 Ford Escapes will come with many recalls that the factory will refuse to fix.
My 08 limited has the keypad on the door and doesn’t have steering wheel audio controls
My 08 escape is a xlt but it has sat radio and the keyless entry buttons... How come this one doesn't?
