only real ones get veridis quo
easily the best song yeah he tripping
probably the least interesting / most repetitive track tbh, the melancholy vaporwave kinda vibe is nice but not sure if it really should be over 5 mins lol
Top 10 daft punk songs imo
weirdly that track takes me to familiar memories that i somehow never lived
Otherworldly song
Sorry Dave, no One More Time slander is acceptable here.
the veridis quo hate is mad, my personal favorite its such a heavenly vibe
fr
Yeah it’s just beautiful
it's the secret title track, for cryin out loud
One More Time was actually produced in 1998. The reason it sounds so "modern" is because it influenced the entire electronic dance music industry.
Also, the riff in Aerodynamic and the solo in Digital Love are (very heavily-processed) electric guitars
I'm pretty sure they are not electric guitars. When you record synths through amps (or amp-sims) you can make them sound like that. It's a nice trick used a lot by Daft Punk and other acts at the time like Justice.
@@erikverkoyen8689 Justice used guitars with samplerate reduction for their tone. You can hear them blended with the synths. A guitar pedal and amp collection isn't going to make a synth sound like a guitar. Daft Punk used an electric guitar for both Digital Love and Aerodynamic.
@pc_buildyb0i935 Nonsense. I've experimented with this myself. I know how these things sound. You can mimic the whole guitar-solo-schtick with the pitchbend and modulation-wheel, play with arpeggiators and get all kinds of guitar-like tones. It's fun! Try it.
@@erikverkoyen8689 I've been doing it for 16 years. The pitch bend on a string is not the same as the pitch bend on a synth, you can hear the difference in a monophonic synth as all formants will shift up or down with the pitch bend, whereas bent strings will have unique 2nd and 3rd order harmonics relative to where the string is bent and by how hard.
Also understand that the articulators and arpeggiators available in 1998 were nothing like the tools we have today.
There's a difference between a "guitar-like" tone and a guitar tone. Aerodynamic and Digital Love are examples of the latter
The Veridis Quo slander 🤯🤯 one of my favorite albums of all time. Hoping you give this one some more listening time, it took a little time for me to really appreciate every track as well. I’m sure songs like Digital Love will grow on you. Still, happy to see you enjoyed the majority of the album!
Couldn't believe he didn't like "one more time" either. I've never met or heard of anyone disliking that Song lol
Digital love is one of the best songs ever
@Treedodger21912 my only complaint is that it'd overplayed
This album completely changed the industry. Music was never the same after this
Same can be said about their "Homework" debut LP.
I thought the one more time slander was blasphemous…..then you got to Veridis Quo 😭😭😭😭
You should watch the movie based on this album. It really completed the experience for me and made the whole album come together in a way I was not expecting.
Aerodynamic will forever be my favorite song by them. Song is GOATED
Digital Love for life.
Face to Face for me
It's great and the fact that new samples are being found to this day is pretty impressive
Too Long for me. It has everything.
When he said drake first i was like: 😑
Pretty much the entire instrumental of Face to Face is built out of samples. There is a video that goes over all of them, and it's amazing what a funky beat they made out of so many samples.
"a little bit underwhelmed, just a tiny bit, but still enjoyed it..." Idk, I'm not convinced that you actually liked some of it. haha.
Voyager is the perfect song
bro heard One More Time and said "is this Drake" 😭😭
highly recommend moon safari by Air if you like that electric piano sound. An absolute electronic 90s classic
This dude got "a tad bit underwhelmed" by one of the best EDM/disco record of all times. His opinion cannot be trusted. Like common the One More Time and Veridis Quo takes were downright terrible.
So nice to see more Daft Punk reactions as of late, loved seeing your reaction (the veridis quo slander tho, I understand but man I love that song), it's so fun, so alive, it's fantastic.
I hope you end up doing RAM, it is different, but I find it so worth to check!
Ramdom access memories now
Listened to "Discovery" in 2024? Imagine how surprised this guy is, when he sees Interstella 5555
Favorite Daft Punk album. Even better than Homework (1997) which was great. All four of their studio albums are solid. The Alive Tour (deluxe) album has some iconic mashups. Derezzed and The Game Has Changed are the best tracks from their Tron soundtrack.
I think I prefer Homework, but maybe it's because it just sounded so new/fresh to me. Sort of like Portishead. Their second album might actually "better" but I have so many memories attached to their debut. And it was such a new sound.
Moon Safari by Air is another classic dance album of the era❣ and their soundtrack to The Virgin Suicides is sublime.
I suggest their Alive 2007 live album if youve heard their first album, this album, and Human After All album. It mixes all three together perfectly.
Love those mash ups. I often listen to that album in the car.
The Prime/Rollin/Brainwasher/Alive mix is just 🤌
I totally agree, Human After All, perhaps a little underrated, is what elevates Alive 2007 to legend.
Give One More Time a few more listens .. maybe it'll grow on you. Such a feel good song
You should really check out some of the sample breakdown videos for Discovery, it’s wild the amount of the work they put in
Awful take after awful take bro said “i wish the album flowed together better.” Like bruh there’s a literal movie that proves this albums flow is perfect
you should take a listen to their album Random Access Memories (RAM), which won four grammys (two related to the album itsself, the other two for one of its tracks "Get Lucky" with Pharrell Williams). it contains a lot of funky tracks as well as slower ones (I'm a bit unsure on how much you'd like the slower ones though due to the verdis quo slander, but they are worth checking out!) If you've noticed, Daft Punk is made up of two French guys who chose to wear robotic helmets at all times (in concerts/public appearances), and they stuck to the theme of being a robot very well. Especially when listening to RAM, it'd be good to consider how a robot would be discovering their existence (emotions?) for a few of the tracks.
Ambitious and multifaceted? I don’t see why that’s better then not being as much
The first three tracks DO transition into each other. Just not on streaming plateforms.
You'll absolutely love Random Access Memories I think. Though this is their most iconic, RAM is probably their best.

"OH THE GIRTH"! Dave has been sampled for whatever I want.
Face to Face has about 20+ samples with apparently more undiscovered ones.
Fun fact: The first half of Short Circuit was created during the Homework era and their use of it during the 97 tour was mint. The robots finished it for Discovery.
It's exactly 20.
Wait?! Wha . , 'Around The World' by Daft Punk. 'Homework' by Daft Punk circa 1996 was musically primed. How'd you leave that song out?!
intresting. This is my favorite album of all time but i never looked up the lyrics for Crescendolls or Superheroes. I always thought for Crescendolls it was "Ooooh Let me out Hey! Ohhh." and for Superheros I heard "AAALL guns in the air".
yes, as commented before, its cool to watch the animation that goes with each track (all on you tube) as it tells a complete anime story!
Not heard this album yet. Here we go!
You have to try to imagine you had NEVER heard digital voice modulation before except for Cher having done autotune for the first time ever once before.
One more time and veridis quo slander is blasphemous!
Veridisquo is edm revolution the repition of a single melody that forever keeps you in the present, thats the soul of all edm
I'd pay to see his face when he hears how most of the songs were made
the disrespect to Veridis Quo. w0w
if you take album suggestions, you should do Flood by They Might Be Giants
Great album!
nothing could ever beat something about us
Watching the movie back in the day was a trip :D
something about us is GODLY
Discovery and RAM are just fantastic albums!
Crazy how every Daft Punk albums have something interesting to say:
Homework - rise of the French touch with a really harsh electronic sound
Discovery - an almost complete mirror of Homework, going to something more pop/funk with a use of samples so perfect, patiently done in like 2 years
Human After All - Disovery's complete opposite with a brutal, cold, minimalistic and way more robotic sound developped in a rush
Discovery - "back to Discovery roots" with more pop stylised songs but kinda doing the music that inspired em at the beginning, becoming the music they sampled on Discovery
I wish u would have watched along with the music videos. It has got a great story going along with it. Maybe u could watch it in your own time
A lot of their music is sampled from old disco songs. It's fun to look up the comparisons.
wait till u find out how many samples are in face to face :0
20 samples
Watch Interstella 5555 and the album will make more sense
Listening to Daft Punk on Headphones is like watching Avatar on an Iphone.
Quality headphones cost a lot less than a quality speaker setup and doesn't bother the neighbours.
Please do "human after all" next! I cant find many reactions to it xD
so good
I think I prefer Homework to Discovery, which is DP's more acclaimed album? Please react to Portishead's self-titled album and Madonna's Ray of Light! 🙏
It has probably been said but I will say it anyways everytime anyone reacts to Discovery: Go find Interstella 5555 and watch that. Seriously. It elevates the entire experience by contextualising each song, repetitions suddenly make sense, moments that seemingly killed the momentum in the tracks without the visuals suddenly make sense. I love the album but I think it becomes a masterpiece with Interstella 5555.
Daft punk brought disco back
Discovery is aging extremely well
please react to their album "random access memories", its their best imo
I'm going to recommend The Crystal Method's self titled album.
This guy....
Great Vid and I dont mean to sound rude or anything Idk anything ab the creator but it pained me everytime this dude said "I'm waiting for the drop" like homie it's early 2000's HOUSE edm not a damn dubstep or rap album dog. The punk of daft don't need drops when their whole song is a bop.
Should’ve done it with the visuals.
you dont get shit, this album is 100/10
Great album. U should later listen to smashing pumpkins (especially siamese dream and mellon collie)
you schould have watched:
Interstella 5555
the film to the album
voyager is a perfect song
do ram pls
Discovery is the greatest album of its time this album is older then you and set the standard for the future
If you had any clue about the importance of this album
10/10
please do 3.15.20 by childish gambino, it's his 2020 album and it's fire 🔥
do more cure gang
Random Access Memories is better in my opinion. It’s a lot more diverse and interesting.
Disagree, Discovery was their peak, but RAM is still pretty good
Hard Disagree
do Alive 2007
Back to black by amy winehouse !!!!! PLS
Every song a banger, only one that comes close to being meh is too long, but rather than that, banger after banger etc.
Clearly you haven't listened to this album stoned enough. Bruh
React to homework by daft punk
I would say the best daft punk album is actually their alive 2007 album - which also happens to be the best live album of all time.
Can tell that he doesn't listen to house music
How do you not like anything.
I loved this album what are you talking about
Your Review: 😴 *yawn*
ok so the moaning is a bit much..
🫦
I like Homework way more. More diversity and less repetitive.
L video
Oh Look... another TYPICAL millennial judging songs only 20 seconds in because you have NO patience for the journey an album (or even a song) can take you. And what's hilarious, half the things you're hearing on this album has influenced most of the crap you praise today, yet you take time to say it's not good or bloviate how it's not living up to the fantasy expectation you have for it.
cook them
the One More Time slander is crazy, RATIO
