CCM continues to make the best power skate on the market. Won't be getting the XF's because I got ASV-Pros not long ago, but man are they incredible.
What do you mean by 'power skates'? Thanks
Have these both on order for my son that is in a junior size! Will be a blind fold fitting lol.
Love your hat, btw 😂 I’ve got the same one but in blue.
Skates have become so technologically advanced that it’s hard to make me seek anything new. My Son’s Ribcor skates are still killing it
thank you for the detailed review. This wasn't covered - is the height of both boots the same or FT6 is taller?
The xf pro are amazing
Hope the new liners are more durable. As an average skilled skating 46 year old beer leaguer, my 100k Pro liners are tearing in multiple spots. My 100k Pros are fantastic skates, but skating once or twice a week tops for the last year and half, i'd have never expected to see my liners having tears and holes in them with limited use.
Same for me.
When getting a custom XF Pro is the foodbed adaption already integrated into the skate?
My old Tacks (9070s) started to break down but didn't have the money to buy new so I ended up getting a second hand pair of Vapor 3X Pros. I feel like I am skating better in the 3X Pros so the questions are:
As I understand the skating style is different Tacks to Vapors, where Vapors are more akin to Jetspeed. So if I go back to CCM would I be better getting Jetspeed?
Do you think the difference is more related to the fact that at the time of the 3X Pros coming out they were top of the line where the 9070s were always a mid level skate?
The 2nd hand skates are an interim solution until I can afford new skates, what range do you think would be better to look at as the next skate?
Thanks
🔥🔥🔥
it funny the other day on the radio I hear Billy Ocean singing Caribbean queen. At the very beginning of the song when he says "She simply awesome." It reminded me of you. Your voices are identical..but after your singing today. I think it safe to say that's as far as it goes in comparison. lol But thanks again for another good video!!
I know the instep is higher in the new tacks, but anyone know if the boot depth from ankle to heel is deeper as well?
I’m like a fit 2.5 in Bauer skates which obviously doesn’t exist, so I’m hoping the new tacks are the answer to my prayers lol
Can you do more reviews on intermediate or cheaper gear? Im trying not to break the bank while also trying not to break the gear. Also, can you do a video on youth hockey equipment and prices? Lots of people do it but everything is confusing and contradicts itself.
Didn't learn that AC isn't common in England until recently. As a Floridian where it regularly hits 36-38C outside and with the "feels like" temp hitting 47C, we'd be dead without AC going all day long lol.
Our house don't keep the heat in during winter. And can't cool properly in summer lol brutal PS: I have AC in my house. Just never needed it in the studio
Boot height is same, right? And also same pitch (angle), givin mainly by XS holder. Same stiffness, the boot width is given by fit system. So the real skating difference will be... more heel-lock in XF? That's not much to justify 2 different skate lines. The upgrade with toe-cup inner "bumples" removing sounds great!!! And more forefoot volume is Top!
Do the tacks xf pro vs the Bauer shadow!
just curious, you previously stated in another video that Step Steel was the best, but now you're stating that Bladetech is better? BTW, big fan of your page, I watch almost all your videos. Thanks for all you do!
@hockeytutorialofficial
Didn’t you say in your previous video that you prefer the XF over the XF Pros?
I did. That still stands. That’s a separate video coming. This is just a FT6 pro vs XF Pro.
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial what issues have you had with your Catalyst 9’s? They are on sale for super cheap during 4th of July and was thinking of trying them out for Reffing especially. I’m wearing the Ribcor 100k pros now and love them so not sure if it’s a downgrade or an upgrade to the catalyst 9?
Cheered me up after game 7 :(
Glad we could help. Sorry….
Go Panthers 🫣after spending time with Ekbald. I can’t help it. Stand up guy 🙌🏾
I am having a problem with my feet. My instep is very low and my ankle is narrow. Actualy I wear ccm super Tacks and I wanted to change skates due to big wear out. I have tried many skates include FT 6 pros Fit 1/ 8,5. I was liitle bit confused because I had a problem with ankle. I mean, boot fit very well, but by every step I had feeling like the ankle is taking off . The best fitting skates was CCM 100 K Tapered. I have choosen 8,5 but after time as I was wearing them I felt pain in the toe. the boots looks like small, but every skates which I tried were 8,5 no smaller. Any help which type of skates should I try ? do the issue disappear If I grab custom (3D scan) ?
Definitely try Bauer hyperlites. The ankle fits differently in a fit 1 compared to tapered jet speeds, even if in theory they should both work. Ignore marketing and try every skate in every brand
Please XF pro vs Shadow
@hockeytutorial
Do you think a FT6 Pro user can transition to a Tracks FX easily or is the difference too great
Previously I would have said maybe. Now 100% YES. XF are super easy to move into from the FT6 Pro. More volume in the forefoot and stiffer so bare that in mind.
Will y’all be receiving the True Catalyst 9X4 when it releases?
Before.. can’t wait to drop that video 👀
@@HockeyTutorialOfficialAwesome! Love the singing btw 🎶 😂
is jetspeed better than vapor? I'm buying a new pair soon
Nothing is better than vapor..if you have the right shaped feet for them
XF pro vs Bauer Shadow when they’re out?
100% !! We don’t get Bauer before launch tho 😅 we have to get them from a retail store 😢
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial that’s fair enough, if it doesn’t happen that’s fine. I’ve been looking at jumping over from my machs into the FT6 Pro’s but now the XF pros are out I will need to do some serious descision making.
I noticed the ASV Pro's lasted a little longer on ice compared to FT6 pro. But the FT6's were definitely more comfortable and responsive.
@hockeyTutorialOfficial didn’t you say that you prefer the XF, not the XF Pros in your previous video?
@@Blobber.tI'd wager the XF Pros may be a better option, but also wonder if more foam is a good thing or not.
How's the weight on these?
The skates in this video are as follows.
XF Pro size 7.5 (box size) 909 grams.
FT6 Pro 7.5 (box size) 935 grams
The weight can be so subjective as no two pairs of skates (the same size) can be the same weight. But I hope this helps.

Why are skate blades called runners?
Why doesn't STEP change their name to GLIDE?
Jofa Company still alive?
Weight please! the ft6 pro were 100g heavier per skate than the mach (7 fit2) ! How can you forget to mention the weight?
Yes, definitely felt the extra weight when upgrading from the AS3 Pros
@@andersborum9267 Yes it's madness, after a full game we are talking tons more lifted with the ft6 pro compared to the Mach. Weight is a key feature!
Because the weight is something anyone can Google by searching for “XF Pro skate weight” then..”FT6 Pro skate weight” normally always shown in box size 9. Not helpful if you aren’t size 9. We like to focus on the details you CAN’T Google.

a few grams should make no difference if you aren’t skipping leg day at the gym…. 🤷🏾♂️
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial I googled it and on the icewarehouse website they give the CCM Tacks XF Pro heavier by 4g [937 grams (Size 9)] still tons more in your leg after a match than bauer skates!
Jofa!!
