    My grandpa served in the Korean War. He passed away last year and I inherited some of his Korean memorabilia from the 50s. He would be happy to see this moment.

    if the koreans decided to make peace...maybe the pakistani and the indians will follow them. this world should be at peace. no more wars. we have to fight together in the dark times that may come in the future. if we are divided, we will all suffer.

    They literally stepped foot on each other's motherland, omg. If any of you didn't knew, that little concrete line on the floor that separated them when they first did the handshake is the actual limit in between the two countries and it's normally monitored by shooters (in case someone wants to go through it illegally) and you can only "cross it" from inside those buildings on the side and you have to have permission... So like, wow. I can't believe I am alive to witness this, it makes me extremely happy. I hope this really ends up being the step that determines something greater.

    • @ssyuren
      @ssyuren 6 років тому +14

      Billy Shears You say that though as if we’re still stuck in 1920-30. Every country that participated in the Great War was still recovering, and to top it off, a worldwide economic depression. I’m pretty sure Hitler was the least of their worries at that point in time. Plus, what kind of country wants to plunge into another war AFTER a major one? Actual conflict in this era could mean total destruction. Doesn’t take a couple of minutes to actually completely annihilate stuff now. It’s as if Kim’s going to go do some blitzkrieging in a bunch of countries when every superpower has nukes now. I’m pretty sure he knows this, and his leverage is his new arsenal. Doesn’t help either that Trump wants to one-up this man every single time. I’d recommend restarting highschool.

      Ren, I am not Korean, but I really appreciate Mr. Moon great initiative to trigger peace movement. You don't need to disgrace previous S. Korean presidents just because President Moon able to do so. These whole thing is a long process. If you are Korean, just make sure to not let any other foreign nation try to take credits, just like DJT did.

    Finally, some evidence that humanity is evolving. We are sick of wars, violence and petty shit. The only way we can solve problems and develop is through communication and striving towards peace.

    • @i5-4670k
      @i5-4670k 6 років тому +27

      No, you are wrong. There will always be competition, and in the modern world we do that economically, and socially (interpersonal). No wars on earth doesn't mean there won't be fighting, fighting will always exist.. we just need to channel it properly. The netherlands is very peaceful, but there is plenty of fighting going on.. just more civilized and less harmful.
      The reason this is is because more and more people live a comfy life, and the world is connected, making altruism attractive.

      As a former citizen of USSR I fully agree with you (sarcasm). Sorry. Thirty years ago all these trans-oceanic hugs and handshakes seemed to us like signs of eternal friendship too. In fact, the West just tried to swallow my country. I hope Kim and big narrow-eyed tiger standing behind North Korea have enough brain substance to draw the right conclusions and avoid korean version of "perestroika" (google it :) )

At that time NIS in South Korea(Like CIA in Korea)was not good enough to know what the n.koreans are doing. We know Chang was killed. But we still don't know how he died. 정...Trabajé mucho tiempo con mis patrones coreanos y conocí mucho de ellos, su país, su cultura, su comida, etc. Llegué a admirarlos y a quererlos mucho.

      No, it's Japan to blame! After they surrendered, Korea was divided into 2. North for the Soviets, South for the Americans. This was origibally suppose to be a temporary division. Bit it didn't work out and it caused all this shit to occur.

    This was absolutely incredible! I am so happy for the Korean people as a nation. Let us hope and pray that both leaders have open dialogue that is constructive, thoughtful for both sides that culminates over time for a unified Korean nation! Moon Jae-in told Trump exactly how he was going to approach this and Trump listened. Let's hope Trump doesn't blow this in May in an ego play because this is what his team is saying "But Trump has made clear that he wants to lead this process himself - “President Trump made his reputation on making deals That being said, Trump has no delegation to South Korea as of yet and better start planning.

      Get over Hillary, she's not your President nor mine. If you support someone who makes fun of people with disabilities, has paid millions of dollars in fines for segregating African Americans by housing in the early 80's, has cheated on numerous wives with other women and paid hush money to cover it up, withheld payment from small business owners for their services and threatened to bankrupt them by dragging them through the legal system, then you are a sad human being or a troll. I'm betting on the latter.

    Much respect for Kim Jong Un. I am still shocked as for what has happened. I've never imagined something like this ever happening. A Kim let alone the supreme leader of DPRK stepping foot over the DMZ into the South. What courage he displayed. He has surpassed his father as being a great leader and is getting close to matching his grandfather. Much love for Korea
