This is something that I have no doubt future generations will remember as a truly historical event. No matter what you think of Trump or the Kim dynasty of North Korea, you have to admire the willingness from both sides to at least begin the talks of peace.
Diplomatic communications between the US and North Korea didn't start with Trump's self-serving photo-op, but they have been going on for decades. All Trump did was subvert proper diplomacy and give the North Korean dictator unearned legitimacy, for absolutely nothing significant in return. Trump set back the cause of peace with North Korea.
As a Korean born American citizen. This is one of my proudest moments to be both. God bless everyone.

As a Marine Corps Veteran I served in Korea in 1979 and was stationed at the DMZ.
South Korea was under martial law and the country was in chaos.
There was a lot of concern that north Korea would take advantage and tensions were high.
The south Korean Marines were stationed next to us and were on high alert. I really thought something bad was going to happen.
So as I watch this unfold I have the same feeling when the Berlin Wall fell.
A truly historic moment.
I am just stunned watching this and I thought something like this would never happen in my life time.
I am very happy for the people of Korea both North and South.
This is really the high point for the president and I am just amazed.
I hope that this is the beginning of the end of the hostilities between the two Korea's and the United States of America.
The people of Korea really went out of there way to make us welcomed while I was in the country and are some of the best people I have ever met.
I only wish the best for the people of Korea.
Truly amazing.
I have tears of joy and I hope that this will bring a end to the hostilities between America and north Korea.

As a Korean, I want to say thank you so much for your kind words, sir. I can still feel your strong connection to my country. I really appreciate it. BTW there are still a lot of doubters in this new direction (both in Korea and in the US, I believe.. I am pretty sure there are doubters even in NK, especially NK military leadership) and I really hope it plays out.
