I think the Canucks could potentially get a better deal if they look to Utah. They're getting great fan support already, and may want to make a big splash to show their new fans that they're serious. If the Canucks can package Hronek and Mikheyev together, given that Utah has 44 million in cap space and can take on both players without any problem, they might get back a winger for Petey and something else. Obviously, Guenther is probably off limits, but they have a couple of other interesting wingers. Or they could get a 1st round pick and flip that for a winger. I doubt Carolina is giving up Necas for Hronek and they're not taking on Mikheyev's cap hit.
It's interesting to note the pundits are suggesting Hughes needs a good skating, offense defense partner while saying Tanev would be a great fit.
Tanev was a good fit only because he allowed Hughes to be more offensively assertive. Albeit beloved, but we don't need an injury prone tanev. Having two threats on the blueline, who are defensively responsible, is much more valuable than one beast mode Hughes. A single threat can be shut down no matter who it is.
Hughes needs a defensively responsible, good first pass making, good skating, clear the net type of D

Garland is paid 5 million. Joshua at 3 is a steal. He can PK, fight, physical, good chemistry with Garland on a third line, 20+ goal pace this year. How much more do you want him to do at 3M.

I firmly believe that the Canucks have to stop this trend of desperate trades by management that affects the Canucks franchise, and subsequent success or lack thereof, long past their tenure. Who signed Mihkeyev to his contract on a wing and a prayer, before getting a good sense of the consistency of his overall play as well as his ability to finish as a third-line forward, let alone second or first? I am tired of injuries being used as excuses for these players' poor play once they are signed. I believe the Canucks should offer contracts based on the premise of "What have you done for me lately?" As Tocchet often said, "Next man up!"
how about demelo with hughes and dillon in for zadorov?
Desperately hoping we don't lose Zadorov. I think if we can get a deal done for around $5-5.25 AAV for 6 years we should do it. Move him ahead of Soucy and that isn't atrocious for a 2nd pair D

Price is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Concedes the Hronek/Hughes pair was lights out for the first half but then claims Hronek wasn't hurt and then immediately disproves that assertion by outright stating Hronek's style of play changed. He stopped scoring, shooting and wasn't playing the same. Well an injury would explain all that wouldn't it Blake? A 35 year old 20 point Tanev as much as he is beloved and overrated in this city is not a better option then a 50 point 25 year old Hronek. The Canucks are completely desperate when it comes to the back end. If the season started tomorrow only Hughes, Soucy and Juulen are showing up. If Hronek leaves the right side is abysmal like it has been for years before Hronek arrived. You also risk pissing off your best player and captain. What are we even talking about here?

This will not happen, If Carolina has no money to sign Necas, how will they sign Hronek? Canucks have no money to sign Necas who will be looking for 6+ million. Should have kept Kuzmenko.
Kuzmenko didn't buy into the system and for some reason never scored with all the ice time he got. Guy was a liability.. sure he can score goals, has great skill but how did he go from 40+ to what he had this season? Tocchet demanded accountability and Kuzmenko is still learning what it is to be an NHLer everyday.
It's not that they don't have the money. They do. They just can't afford to pay Necas $6+ million to play on their 3rd line. Their depth is crazy for skilled forwards.

Kuzmenko couldn't play any Defense. His poor play in his own zone wouldve cost just as many goals as he'd score..
It made ZERO sense to keep him. The extension was questionable at best. Great deal to get away from. &
I don't think Calgary would've taken Mikheyev instead so it wouldn't have mattered. He has negative trade value.

Being willing to play six Mill for Zadarov but not 8 for Hronek is bizzare. They need to get Hroneks price tag closer to 7 but you have to bring him back.
If im in charge DK is back at 3. Im trying for less but he is worth 3. Him and Garland played well together. What else do you do with him.
Lindholm would be great to have back but its probably not happening. Would forse Miller, Lindholm, or Petterson onto the wing. A right shooting winger would be cheaper. Jonathan Marchessault at 4-5, would be fantastic.

Florida only has 9 Canadian players. I would love to have that team and argue they play harder than anyone in the league. I think the nationality argument is becoming less and less relevant. It's about grit, and those players are coming from a lot of countries now. I just want to see grit period
