- Atomic mutations with an appetite for flesh!
A test rocket carrying wasps to outer space, to study the effects on them of weightlessness and radiations, crashes out of control back to Earth, into the jungles of Africa. The two astrobiologists in charge of the test mount an expedition to the Darkest Continent to retrieve their experiment, only to find the wasps have grown to giant size which are panicking all forms of life as they quest for food.
Original title: Monster from Green Hell (1957) AKA: Creatures from Green Hell
Black & White version: • Monster from Green Hel...
Director: Kenneth G. Crane
Writers: Louis Vittes, Endre Bohem
Stars: Jim Davis, Robert Griffin, Joel Fluellen, Barbara Turner
Genres: Colorized Classics, Horror, Sci-Fi
Good thing he brought enough cigarettes to last that whole time.
When this was made, a pack could be had for probably $0.25 so yeah, he could afford it.
Cant run out of smokes
Lorna is played by Barbara Turner. She went on to be quite a successful screenwriter. Was married to Vic Morrow, and her daughter is Jennifer Jason Leigh.
🤗 ... You my friend , rock! 👌
One big happy family.
I canceled a date with wife at the opera to see this….
The buzzing of the big arse wasps may last for an hour or two. But man the wife is gonna be buzzin in your ears for months after cancelling Pagliacci.
😂
@@zanti209she’s used to disappointment
If she really loved you, she'd stay home any watch it with you. I thought wives liked romance and all of that stuff. Maybe buy you a six-pack to loosen you up a bit.
Worth it
This sort of thing actually happened more often than not back in 1957. I mean, we just sort of expected that both monsters from outer space, and monsters somehow awakened by atomic testing would ravage us on a more or less weekly basis. We just sort of took it in stride, along with the fear of nuclear holocaust, the commies, and flying saucer attacks.
Damn, I miss the 1950s.
Now the monsters are among us no matter where we go or how hard we try to hide.
Yes, it was an optimist era…
Obviously there’s some science behind it-genetic mutations caused by radioactivity.
Human monsters are the worst!
Ah, the "Big Bug" Monster movie Classics from the 1950's- too bad this AIN'T one of em!!!LOL.OK to watch or kill an hour with but it really makes you appreciate and enjoy the Good ones. Thanks for uploading.
No one mentioned that the Jack Davis (Dr. Bradley) in this movie - was the same Jack Davis that later appeared as Jock Ewing in Dallas.
@urbanurchin5930....Hi....actually, the character's name is Dr. Brady, and the actor is Jim Davis. Yes, Jim Davis played Ewing in the series Dallas, but he was in a lot of Western shows before Dallas.
Since you mentioned the show Dallas, you might enjoy this bit of information. Some of Dallas was shot at a real ranch house outside of Dallas, just a couple of miles from the then small farm town of Frisco. I was in High School at Frisco from 68-70, and I worked part time at the local farm supply store. I delivered bales of hay a couple of times to that house. Later, when the show was on T.V., I thought it kinda neat that I knew where the house was and had been there delivering hay.
Someone did before , but what no one mentioned was that he was Matt Clark railroad detective on the 1954-55 television series "Stories of the Century" which I saw for the first time on television 20 years ago , the reason why this 31 year old loves this sci-fi horror flick so much 👌
Double trouble, Atomic Waso straight out of Green Hell!
Quent sure likes his smokes. Jim Davis, long before he became Jock Ewing on "Dallas."
they had five designated porters to carry the cigarettes🤣🤣
A great, old movie. Thank you!
Amazing how people with no knowledge of wasps and volcanism can make a movie this bad.
These newly-colorized movies look pretty terrible. The colors flicker all over the place and keep changing positions and popping to another color. I do appreciate it when the BW address is given in the description.
Hi @Epoxinator !
Indeed, you have the link to B&W version in color films when they are available. Same goes the other way around, color link in B&W version.
If the link is not in the description box, it means it has not been uploaded to the channel.

Hope you do enjoy all of our B&W films!
This one didn’t have a Ray Harryhousen to oversee the colorization… it’s not 20 mil miles to earth, he did a great job on that. I like being able to see both versions though. Granted, the colorization on this one isn’t up to par with the Harryhausen classics.
@@SocialSpit I believe it's a specific software that's being used, maybe something with AI. Hopefully it will improve. The color isn't very accurate or stable, and it appears to degrade the picture quality as well.
They were shot in B&W so they only look good that way.
@@SocialSpit that's cuz Ray Harryhausen was one in a million , but I still love this flick just like I love "Them" , "Tarantula" , and "The Deadly Mantis" plus a few other great ones as well ✌️
Another true story 😮. It is like a history lesson ❤
And filmed with such shocking realism, too!
Sometimes I think these pictures go too far in what they can show.
Is it true story?
@@MrGiokosNO
Some people are so gullible 😂
Jim Davis as Jock Ewing the father in Dallas
Good work by a good cast, --but the run-time would be cut by 2/3 if the science institute booked a helicopter...
This movie needs Mamie Van Doren. And some rock & roll singing and dancing numbers.
They just don't make good B Movies anymore
I am reminded of the rockabilly tune UBANGI STOMP
BRAVO! This is a definite improvement over the original.
You've taken an otherwise bland and unengaging Big Bug movie and given it a veneer of technological interest. The colors are more or less accurate, and go far toward improving the watchability of this film.
Thumbs up for the guinea pigs ! 😍
The sound quality is not good. I can hardly hear it. The color is all over the place. It is hard to watch .☹️
Werner Von Braun’s V2 Rocket!

This sci-fi classic
Didn't they have jet Air liners in '57
In 1957 US airlines offered 100% piston prop service such as the DC-3, DC-6 and Lockheed Constellation, the famed 'Connie' as seen here, with the unique dolphin shape and tri-rudder tail design.
@@MarinCipollina Thank You for the information
@@MarinCipollina Ah. but if you were flying from London on one of the Empire Routes, you could have flown on a deHavilland Comet 4-jet airliner from as early as 1952.
There was a slight chance it might have disintegrated in mid air, mind you ...
Wait a minute, I thought wasps could “Fly!” If I had a pair of wings, I would just fly out of trouble.
Maybe they were too heavy or their wings didn't grow as fast as the rest of their bodies. Just a thought. Otherwise I was thinking the same thing, too.

Can’t wait….
Was this based on a real event? And it's Green HECK! May Gosh Bless You.
Very good documentary. I remember reading about this in National Geographic. P.S. They ran out of water but always had enough smokes.
@OldJoe212 🤣🤣🤣 All the smoking in the movies back then...
Sure-fire turkey sci-fi flick. 🦃 IT sounds like an army of lawnmowers looking to cut your grass. Giant bugs 🪲, but not as big as DEADLY MANTIS. More like them ANTS or CRICKETS. Should be a larf a min with overly serious lab tecs, lusty jungle folk & over-sized WASPS. We got cheese, bring your chips & fave drink. Let's pah-tee!🥳
Hai zanti 👸❤❤❤❤❤
I love these old movies. THANK YOU for posting ❤❤
What a gem 💎....and Jim Davis from Dallas! This was great 👍
The perspective is so strange one view the bugs are a little bigger than elephants and then you see they appear as big as a mountain.
Nice time. Good movie. Nice Africa at that time... !
Respect from Romania!

You guys still have vampires!
@@clintonstahlman4618 Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431-1476/77)
Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, more commonly known as the Impaler or Dracula, was a three-time voivode of Wallachia, ruling mainly from 1456 to 1462. Historically, Vlad is best known for his resistance against the Ottoman Empire and its expansion and for the cruel punishments he imposed on his and Europes enemies. In the English-speaking world, Vlad III is most commonly known for inspiring the association of the name of the vampire in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, "Dracula."
His name had its origin in the sobriquet of his father, Vlad Dracul ("Vlad the Dragon" in medieval Romanian), who received it after he became a member of the Order of the Dragon. Dracula is the Slavonic genitive form of Dracul, meaning "[the son] of Dracul (or the Dragon)". In modern Romanian, dracul means "the devil", which contributed to Vlad's reputation.
Author Mark Pinkham writes, "Vlad III spent his early years studying the Dragon Mysteries. He attended the Scholomance or "School of Solomon" in Austria, which was identified by the local uninitiated natives to be a "devil's school." It was there that young Vlad learned many forms of alchemy, the secrets of nature, and many magical incantations. The Dragon Wisdom he learned at the School of Solomon would become a guiding light for Prince Vlad throughout his life."
"A large stake, longer than a man's stature, was prepared, which would be fixed in the ground (rarely, a thin tree was cut and cleaned), the tip being sharp like a nail and greased with tallow, so that it would slide. The man could be stuck in that spike through the middle - belly or back, head and limbs hanging down to the ground - but there was the risk of piercing a vital organ and the man died too quickly!
Therefore, in the most widespread method of Ţepeş's executioners, the victim lying on the ground, with his arms tied behind his back, was stuck with a stake through his bottom, then pulling both of his legs tied with ropes at the ankles. While the unfortunate man howled in pain and writhed, he pulled on the ropes and beat himself with a wooden mallet on the other end of the spike, slowly, carefully, so as not to pierce the two organs that were known to causes immediate death: liver and heart. And thus the tip of the spike was removed through the mouth or, most often, through the neck, between the head and the shoulder. The man was thus crucified, in terrible torment, but with his vital organs functioning. He was slowly dying of suffering, thirst, hunger and - alas! - from the attack of the ravens that came, flocks and flocks, to eat his eyes, his tongue, his whole body", writes Neagu Djuvara, in the book "From Vlad the Impaler to Dracula the Vampire"

This is a great old clunker; thanks for posting.
The mustachioed dude in the white suit sounds like he’s channeling the voice of Vincent Price. Must be that Northeast patrician accent that once graced Hollywood.
Merci
of all the possible bugs to send into space, why did they choose wasps?
Very cool Thanks!
This whole production is bizarre beyond words. Very obviously the producers got some even-then extremely outdated footage, probably a documentary or adventure movie from the 20's until the early 30's from the look of it, then wrote the script and cast and dressed the actors and lined them up and directed them to match the old footage. So all they do is walk, a plastic head and a little stop motion heads pop in and out so its a, you know, science fiction movie, and they walk and WATCH the conclusion; they nothing to advance the plot at all! Its an incomprehensible collection of "Lets be clever and make a cheap movie" that backfires spectacularly in every department. Incredible.
@davidrosler5413....Party Pooper....I bet you are a real fun guy at parties....!!!
You're absolutely right. You are left to guess what happened half the time and are told rather than shown. Also, way too much padding. I bet the writer was the great-grandfather of the writers of The Mandalorian.

I'm amazed at the "spring" factor of those rare trees... A creature that big could burst through them yet they could just "spring" back up as mere humans walked back through the path.... I think a General Sherman Tank is a great suggestion for 🐝 hunting.... Angry little bar stools they are.....
What about the other animals 🤔 someone needs to make a sequel
It's so weird seeing these in colour.
