That thing is for dogs because they aren’t as flexible and agile as cats. If your cat’s claws need trimming and they won’t allow you to do so easily, roll them up in a towel or blanket like a burrito with their paws sticking out. If your cat is likely to bite you, have the cats front legs fully extended above the head. It won’t hurt them (many cats actually like to be stretched by having their human pull their arms upwards and back) and it immobilises the cat for your safety. Lots of treats and love too!

I still think it's just easier to have a cat that's comfortable with going in the backyard and scratching on a tree. My cats are all outdoor cats that came in at night
Mine prefers me to cuddle her into a comfy pose and then she allows me to trim her claws without a fight. It also help if you get the cat use to having their paws touched. I got mine as a kitten and got her use to having her paws touched cause at first she was very hands off. It took time to build her TRUST.
Here’s a tip for trimming your cats claws (that I use with my cat) : 1 : wait for them to be lazy and lay down 2 : distract them with a toy while they are laying down 3 : don’t let them attack the toy (or give it to them every few minutes) 4: trim their claws while they are laying down and watching the toy hope this helps :D
I do the first suggestion. She's next to me dozing off and I gently lift her paw and trim as much as I can. Can't always get all the claws at one time, but little my little, she gets her manicure.
Or get a happy hoodie and someone to pet them. Make sure you are fast and know what you are looking for. 3 cats done in 15 minutes or less. Should time myself when i just do their nails.
I've never had a problem trimming a cat's nails. I've trimmed the nails of my friends cats too. Just catch them while they're calm and don't make it into a big deal. I regularly play and pet my cats paws while we're cuddling to get them comfortable with it.
100% yes! If they are getting too curious or concerned ill take a little break and let them sniff the closed and locked clippers anf give them treats before continuing
I use to have do that for a older cat my aunt had she was in alot of pain at time it was the only way I could brush her backside because it get extremely matted eventually she stop fighting me she just accepted it most other that being biten but she was 15 years only so her teeth weren't that sharp I would only give her 2 or 3 minutes light brushing once every couple days as to not stress her out to much
I've taught each of my cats to accept getting their nails trimmed through bribery. First I hold them in my lap and pet their paws, then I play with and knead their paws. Once they accept this as normal I cut one nail at a time giving treats for each time the let me cut and are calm. Eventually they get used to it and stop needing treats. They eventually consider it quality time and come over for trims. It takes a couple months. I have three cats. One that I adopted as an adult from the shelter, one that I got as a kitten, and an ex stray that lived under my deck.
I'm amazed that you managed to get them to go for it a second time to be honest, though it would be a good way to trim their claws, using you as a scratching post
Exactly, give em the good old armpit tuck. Butt on your leg in an upright position facing you a little but mostly outward, tuck their back in your armpit so they cant fall backwards, use your arm to hold their arm out while gently but firmly holding the paw and extending the claws. Use the free hand to trim
My cats nails grow so fast they have to be cut at least every two weeks or so. If I don’t they constantly get caught on almost everything while she runs and jumps. She does use scarring posts constantly, buts it’s not enough. I always start trimming a cat’s claws as a kitten so they get used to it. Now she has no problem with me laying her on her back and trimming them. No fight or hassle.

Ensure they can't escape by huddling down putting your chest over their back, wrap your free hand around the side to the desired front paw and carefully clip with your dominant hand. Note that this doesn't work if the cat already hates you but I've never experienced this, usually even if they hiss while grabbing them initially they relax and merely meow/protest once they know they aren't getting away

I can’t stop laughing that the cat escaped
Friends, since you can't, then leave it to a pet groomer, keep your pet from getting hurt...🤭
Or the vet. If they're way too resistant not even a groomer can get it done.
Some groomers won't handle a radical cat.
BE CAREFUL, it has been proven that a lot of times per groomers don’t have the patience to deal with other peoples pets . Only go to a reputable place that lets you check in on your pet
A lot of groomers won’t accept cats because of that reason
thanks so much for making this video I love cats and dogs but mostly cats thanks so much! 🤩

If your cat trusts you enough you can do this way or roll it into a blanket if it's not that much friendly
I have a cat. He is 10 years old now. I wash him once when he was small. He's home cat and he was never sick or smth. Big and beautiful old man right now 😊

I have 3 cats and all 3 of them let me clip their nails. You put them in your lap you give them lots of love and you tell them it's ok and what a good cat they are. Done.
yeah like its gonna work on every breed of cats
@@-0skmeb891 certainly not but its good to try. The best way to ease your cats into it is when they are kittens. You dont clip them when they are tiny tiny of course but playing with and touching their paws until you eventually work them enough to trust you to hold those paws is a wonderful way to ease your cats into claw clipping. It does work sometimes if the cat is older but the training does take longer
I'm so glad you posted this. I was on the verge of buying one of those harnesses, but your cat acts like my cat. It would be a waste of money. lol
get the one with the strap across the back it keeps them from escaping

You usually don't do that on bath tub because you know they have traumatic experience in there.😅

Same here except i taught them young to let me clip their claws lol its best for renters in case your kitty gets the idea to tug at carpet... 8 scratching posts in my home of varying fabrics and yet most of my cats still love carpet 😩 i have one cat that loves wood and wicker... Hes the stray we brought in lol
Your poor furniture
Bet no one enjoyed being around that cat.
I just cut my cats claws when he sleeps. If he wakes up, then i just continue a few hours later when he sleeps again.

Нельзя так подвешивать котов, они должны чувствовать что под лапами у них пол, иначе у них начинаеься паника. Поэтому когда моют котов, стелят полотенце, что б котик не скользил и чувствовал себя уверенно

Really? Wow!
Я слышала что кошки чувствуют себя дискомфортно когда под их лапками нет опоры. Поэтому они убегает.
It's crayzi luka cat 😂😂😂
I still think it's just easier to have a cat that's comfortable with going in the backyard and scratching on a tree. My cats are all outdoor cats that came in at night
Thank you so much for this. I knew this was some bullshit. Her cats are clearly mild mannered when getting their nails clipped so it works for that.
Mine prefers me to cuddle her into a comfy pose and then she allows me to trim her claws without a fight. It also help if you get the cat use to having their paws touched. I got mine as a kitten and got her use to having her paws touched cause at first she was very hands off. It took time to build her TRUST.
OMG HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
Here’s a tip for trimming your cats claws (that I use with my cat) :
1 : wait for them to be lazy and lay down
2 : distract them with a toy while they are laying down
3 : don’t let them attack the toy (or give it to them every few minutes)
4: trim their claws while they are laying down and watching the toy
hope this helps :D
😮gracias 🙂

I do the first suggestion. She's next to me dozing off and I gently lift her paw and trim as much as I can. Can't always get all the claws at one time, but little my little, she gets her manicure.
Or get a happy hoodie and someone to pet them. Make sure you are fast and know what you are looking for. 3 cats done in 15 minutes or less. Should time myself when i just do their nails.
I had this issue last time I tried to trim my cat's claws. It is not easy being a cat dad.
Finally an accurate cat grooming video
I feel so good that my cat treats trimming his claws as a spa time. 😂
Que chistoso 😆 🏠🐈⬛
You shouldn’t trim your cats claws
I’m glad I’m not alone! 😂

I just roll my cat into a little burrito after a couple months I didn't need to do it anymore and can just lay her down now to trim and file her nails

I'm amazed that you managed to get them to go for it a second time to be honest, though it would be a good way to trim their claws, using you as a scratching post
ý
Just pick up your cat and put it on your lap works 10/10 times
Not all cats.....
She so cute
My cats nails grow so fast they have to be cut at least every two weeks or so. If I don’t they constantly get caught on almost everything while she runs and jumps. She does use scarring posts constantly, buts it’s not enough. I always start trimming a cat’s claws as a kitten so they get used to it. Now she has no problem with me laying her on her back and trimming them. No fight or hassle.
