Excited to see your board review. Really interested to see how it surfs in overhead conditions, I'm considering it as a one board quiver. Your turns look so good on this one! Yeeeew!

Cheers Robbo, yeah I’m starting to write it now, been loving getting to know the board so far, it makes me excited to surf which has never happened before.
The first wave in the video, when I dropped in the face was over my head by far and I’m 5’9. I was travelling so fast hahah that last turn was almost out of control haha. Seriously the fastest board I’ve ridden and effortless. Wonder what it goes like as a thruster!? The 2+1 is an amazing set up for it though.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. If you get one let me know. Where are you located?

How do you like it compared to your pheonix ? Why did you go the twin route and not thruster ? This board seem to be a better fit for you, your surf seem even better ! tho some i felt you had lack of grip with those fin. Yewww buddy 👌🤙

I’m gunna do a board review on it soon so I’ll cover your questions soon but you are right. There was a couple of waves where I struggled with the twin set up. Still yet to ride it as a thruster. I think it’s a better fit too!

Looks good. Do you still have the phoenix? I got an eps Phoenix and on the third surf, the rail is collapsing. It cracked and the glass is crumbling away. I took it to my local shaper. He said the glass looked extremely thin on the rail and gave it a light push with his fingernail a little further along the rail and it crumbled straight through. He said its been over sanded. Im not a shaper so I dont really know. I didnt bump or hit anything with it and only had a few rides in very light surf. I called dhd and am now sending the board back. They said they will refund me. Getting back into surfing after 25 years am now wondering if the "dont make em like they used to" is a real issue. $1000 for a board that crumbles under light pressure is a buzz kill. How often do people go through boards these days?

Ah that sucks man, sorry to hear. They are light glassed boards but that is just crazy! I do still have the Phoenix, it’s coming with me to Bali next week (and probably staying there). I never had any issues that you’ve had but the boards definitely beat up now. I rode it for about a year and 4 months. Still goes fine though.
At least they’re giving you a refund, what are you thinking of getting? If you surf waves like I do, I’m loving this JS. It’s mental and friendly at the same time.
I must admit, board technology has changed so much since I surfed as a kid too! Litreage wasn’t a thing, fcs, what’s that? Epoxy, never heard of it! Haha but I do think boards are way better nowadays if you’re buying off the rack. Technology makes them super consistent (just not in your case unfortunately).

@@joshtraceysurfing Well after surfing it the first time, I felt it was slightly bigger than I wanted. It is 6,0 and 38 litres. But I was really happy with it otherwise. My wife had ordered another board from a different company which turned up damaged in shipping. We got a refund on that board, so we decided she could have the 6,0 phoenix with the extra length and volume to help with her more beginner ability and I would get another smaller phoenix. My new 5,10/35litre eps turned up the same day the 6,0 started revealing the collapsing rail issue. So now I have two phoenix eps. One boxed back up ready to be sent back and the other smaller board has not been in the water yet. Im almost scared to touch it after seeing how easily the first one crumbled. Im extremely gentle with boards, only plan to use them in small light waves and I make sure I fully protect them out of the water against and bumps or transport pressure. If the new phoenix falls apart after only a few light sessions, I reckon I will just go to softboards. So many forums online with people seeming to normalise boards getting broken and beat up after a very short time. Seems like boards these days are disposable short term items. Many people saying they go through quite a few boards each year. I just don't have funds to keep pumping $1000 multiple times a year. Im getting back into surfing to relieve stress and so far it's done the opposite unfortunately.

@@tasmaniacfishing1134 well fingers crossed that it was a one off, everyone I’ve met that has the board loves it. I haven’t ridden it as an EPS but would love to.

Honestly, no. I got the Carbotune version tho and that thing is tough as anything. I’m filming a review for it in the next 2 days. If you’re considering buying, look at the Carbotune over the hyfi. More expensive, but just does everything better and is stronger

@@doomymcdoom1498 people might argue but I reckon Epoxy in these small wave grovel boards is the way to go. The sub xero in epoxy is a weapon. If I were to get another Phoenix I’d go epoxy.

One of the worst boards I’ve ridden. Slower than every FireWire model and if you look at it the wrong way it will ding. Worst $1000 I ever spent
