  • Wooly is back and the froth is real! 6 months has been a long time healing the knee but he is back ready to go and the first board out of the editing studio is the JS SUB XERO.
    Wooly weighs 87kg/192lb and is 6'1"/187cm tall
    Wooly is riding a 5'10" x 20 7/8" x 2 13/16" - 37.1L
    What do you think of the new format??? Feel free to comment or send me an IG message.
    From JS
    THE FASTEST BOARD FOR SLOW WAVES.
    This is everything you want in small surf. To create the Sub Xero, we combined the new Xero with our long running summer favourite, the Psycho Nitro. It has the Nitro’s ultra-fast low to flat rocker and full outline, but with the nose pulled in a touch, and a wider, straighter tail.
    In the engine room, vee in the nose prompts quick rail to rail transitions, moving into a deeper single to double concave, which helps the Sub Xero to hold speed and change directions with minimal energy. Generous thickness & a flatter deck is complemented by slightly pulled down rails, similar to other boards with EasyRider style dimensions. This helps maintain volume throughout, while also making it easy to initiate turns and provide immediate response to hit any section on offer.
    It’s designed to be as performance oriented as you could possibly ride in knee high waves, and we couldn’t be more excited to unveil it for those days you wouldn’t even get in the ocean without the right super groveler. For slow waves, you need the fastest board - enjoy the Sub Xero.
    Ride your Sub Xero approx. 4-6 inches shorter than your Xero in regular dimensions.

    Yo Wooly 🤙, I went ahead and got a 6'6 Hyfi SX from Sanbah (had it in stock). Mate, so glad I did - it's a little rocket and I can't get over how whippy and fast it is - really reactive and positive. I'm riding the MF 2+1 fins in it (H4 styled things). It's harder to ride than what I've been riding recently because it's so responsive, but mate - I'm so excited about it. Some of the turns I've done on it make me feel like a pro lol... 😂😂😂

    Hey Wooley, great reviews! I’m an intermediate surfer who usually surfs a high performance long board or mid length looking to go shorter. Am looking at either the mashup, rocket wide or the sub zero, I’m 90kgs and 6’1 so looking at 6’2 to 6’4 as I’m also used to much longer rails. Could you recommend one of these 3? I’m leaning towards the mashup as I believe it might be the most forgiving given the foam on the tail area.

    • @WoolyTV
      @WoolyTV  Рік тому

      Hi mate
      All 3 of those will do the trick for you - just don’t go too small. You will be used to the easy paddle of the mid and longboard so just don’t go too small! Just watch all 3 reviews and see which one will suit your waves better. 🤙

    • @WoolyTV

      The major difference is that the sub Xero has a 5 fin option which suits me because I’m not sold on a pure quad.

  • @Spider2029
    @Spider2029 3 місяці тому +1

    Another great review! I was wondering, would it work as a daily driver for someone surfing average waves for the most part? I'm 170cm@68kg, currently riding a 5'6 Sweet Potato (the helium model) by FireWire.
    As far as my understanding goes, the Sub Xero should allow for a better range of waves, being a little bit narrower (comparing same length with Sweet Potato is -7 litres in volume and -2 inches in width). Not sure if I can use it on ankle/knee high tho, but I can keep the Sweet Potato for that.
    Best 🤙

    • @WoolyTV
      @WoolyTV  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes mate that would be correct. Will have a bigger range than the Sweet Potato. SP will be better in the really small stuff so keep that for the grovel.

    GREAT STUFF, I just got a Psycho Nitro which is the same rocker and bottom shape just wider in the nose and fuller rails which is good for the waves in Cornwall, did you find the Sub Zero lacked drive as a thruster , as I found the Nitro lacked projection off the bottom turn , now going to try it with a 2+1 hopefully it will have more speed in weaker waves, when the waves got a bit more pushy with hollow section the board flew.

    • @WoolyTV
      @WoolyTV  4 місяці тому +1

      I find that all my boards, for small waves, and with wide tails feel better as a quad or a 2 + 1. I prefer those 2 combos or thrusters in these type of boards.
      It’s funny because I never really ride quads ever but they seem to work well in the grovel boards.

    all the JS X series are types of fusion boards, I find I dont need a dedicated groveller as there is a enough groveller characteristics in things like the monsterbox ( now known as Xero gravity), and even the monsta 2020. I cant say for sure though as havent tried one yet, I just dont surf if waves are that crappy. Would love to try though, as could mean extra days surfing, and maybe can get better at surfing throwing one of those wide nose boards around in slop.
