I forgot about using the return water to get out the air in the hose. My dad did that when I was a kid. All I could do is laugh and slap myself in the head. Thanks for the reminder.

Great video. Putting it on the return port. So simple and obvious but I never thought of that. Brilliant

Thank you for this! I was having a heck of a time getting the air out of the hose. Never thought of putting it up to the return jet.

We didn’t know what the skim-vac thing was……
Now we do, so thank you 😊

Great to know! I didn't realize that the air needed to be taken out first!

I am not clear on the vacuum you just explained. My pool has a hose to hook up the hose, and the vacuum is the one that rolls (Hayward) pool cleaners.
Then we have the skimmer with flat open face that water flows through the basket from the pool side.
Often times, the Hayward pool cleaner will move for awhile and stopped and this leaves my pool full of dirty. Not much debris gets to the skimmer.
How do I vacuum the pool in this arrangement? Thanks

So helpful, thank you! I need to find out about getting the air out of the filter next to the pump.

Thank you for the helpful info! So the skimmer basket stays in? We were told to take it out. We have a cartridge filter.

I leave mine in when I have leaves or bigger debri on the bottom. If it is a regular vacuuming, it has a better seal when it is out.

Very clear video thanks! First time vacuuming my first time pool. Lol Quick question for ya. I'm confused as to what position the water shut off valve should be in? Should the water be sucking down into my skimmer very quickly? I don't even know where to put it when the filters just running regular. I have a feeling I'm about to mess things up. Have any suggestions to help a girl out? Please?!

Your vacuum hose have two different sides. One can rotate, the other can’t. The rotating side must go on the vacuum head and the next side to the pool skimmer, reason.. the rotating side will catch air but under the water it won’t as it is attached to the vacuum head itself

Hello there. Very helpful info. I do the same exact steps you deceive l describe. I'm just wondering, it seems the suction is not strong enough. I was told to put my hand to cover the opening on the bottom of the vacuum head to feel the suction. I don't feel anything, do you? Do you feel a suction through bottom of vacuum head?

Thanks for the question. You should feel some suction. It's not super strong though. It's possible you may need to backflush the filter. Over time they lose pressure and need backflushed.

When I shut off pump after vacuuming the plate lifted and all the debris started going into the pool. My vacuum plate is u shaped and have to remove flapper before inserting it.

If taken out, the large debris than is vacuumed will end up clogging your filter much faster.

What if your vacuum head isn't able to suction the sediment in the middle of your large above ground pool?

When I try to vacuum, I get too much suction. Can't move head. What causes that?

    • @mjoaks23
      @mjoaks23 Рік тому

A loose liner will do that to you. Just turn off the filter, regain control of the vacuum, and start again. I usually had someone with me to shut off the filter when that happened.

A strong vacuum. I just installed a new pool with a stronger vacuum than the previous pool, and have that same problem. It does make it tougher to slide the vacuum brush along the bottom of the pool. I need to angle the brush slightly up on one side to do the job better.

Much faster to prime the hose by hand.

My problem is, right after I put the attachment into the skimmer to start sweeping, it's maybe good for one or two passes, then I lose suction. I'm going over every connection step by step, and I don't seem to be having any air leaking, but I guess the next step is to backwash and rinse again. Thanks for the video!
