The Brabus V6 Roadster prototypes had 170 PS and a power to weight ratio of 215 PS/TON. 0-100 km/h in 5.8 sec, circa 220 km/h top speed and about half an hour driving before they overheated. So tricky to handle that they couldn't possibly sell it to the general public... Great sound though! The best Roadsters are the last 60kW versions with the improved software programming for the gearbox. I also have a late Brabus Xclusive, so I actually know what I'm talking about.
+cfmatias Any idea if I can get the update if I buy a, let's say, 2003 or 2004 60kW version of the Coupe? Beside that the Brabus-edition is out of my pricerange ;) I couldn't find it in blue either, I assume black and champagne was the only color it was sold in?
+DelphiTheDolphin 2003 MY Roadsters are to be avoided, as are in general all cars coming from their first production year. Only after one year in production is the production process mature, as well as the electronics. Regarding the software upgrade, you have to inform yourself either on an official Smart dealer or specialist, as I'm not sure if that's widely available. All 60kW Roadsters/ Coupés were available in 6 colours; even so, naturally, some may be harder to find than others...
Carlos Matias it seems you know what you're talking about so I'd like to ask you a question. I've got the 2004 smart roadster coupe, great car, great fun, lacked a bit of power so I chipped it to a decent hp range. However during high speeds or even highway speeds for that matter, she is incredibly nervous. A light touch of the wheel will almost launch you into oncoming traffic. She's got a new power steering controller as well as new balanced tires and recentred wheels. Taking off the power steering module doesn't seem to make a difference. Do you know where this is coming from? Would you say the v6 engine is too heavy for this car? My engine is coming up for a rebuild and I am contemplating between rebuilding or swapping. There isn't much more to get after chipping and thus we are toying with the idea of an st220 from a Ford mondeo. This would give room up to 600 hp and 800 nm of torque but we've got some doubt with regards to the weight distribution.
I think the next summer at the smart time in austria ( zell am see) is the best chance for you to have a ride. there is one v6 there every years since the beginning of the event so the next year it will certainly be the same. And the smart time is real heaven for a smart addict. hope it help you
This was just 1 out of 10 prototype cars that brabus Built. They used two straight 3 cylinder fused together to make a v6. Top Gear tested one of them.
Yep we do, and i'm about to buy a 3rd one as well (coupé version). I live in Belgium, not UK. There are way more SR's with left hand drive and you'll find the most in Germany (wich is normal because Smart is German). Anyway good luck with your search for one ;)
@rekaras 1400 cc engine.......maybe not the best in power but dude for a 1.4 shed with wheels you gotta say it must move a bit. i drove my friends one and its only 80bhp - fast as shit
That so called heavy V6 is actually two 3 Cylinder engines in one car that has a maximum output of 215 HP with a bi-turbo(more hp than your motorcycle engine)! Meaning it has more power to weight than my 2002 Volvo S60! My Volvo has 197 HP and weighs about 3,220 lbs and goes from 0-60mph in about 7 seconds, imagine how fast this car could possibly be weighing half as much and with more hp than my Volvo.
You just have to rev it higher. There are plenty of cars with motorcycle engines in them, and they are all awesome. For example, there is a company who puts superbike engines in the original Mini Cooper.
@kspr06 yes I believe youre right, but I mean that totally all cars same weight and v6 in it will go crazy... this one is 215hp twin turbo v6 - and only 800kg about-so its goes like it should nothing else
It's a, 1,852 lb car with 215 HP, My Volvo S60 weighs about 3,220 lbs and only has 197 HP and accelerates to 60 mph in about 7 seconds. Imagine how fast a car that weighs half as much as mine and with more horsepower can go.
You two have 5 roadsters? No wonder I can't find one to buy...Let me guess. You're in the UK? I've been trying to find a brabus or at LEAST a regular roadster to buy in Mexico. No luck.
oh yeah they never did a 1600cc either? i dont think you know what your on about, this v6 version have a 170hp 1400cc v6 and does about 138mph top speed witch is why you saying a smart can do 145 is silly
would love to have a car like this with a 5.7L engine that feeds on horse blood, it must be made from the rarest rocks... from mars. and it must also have a power output of 1000 unicorns. Not this tiny little 1.4!
It's cheaper on gas, a cheap sports car, and low in insurance rates. Excellent safety crash ratings, and doesn't break down as often as most POS American cars. Drive your FAILCar. :) I'll drive my PROCar.
Wtf is wrong with you? I have 2 Roadsters and a friend of mine has 3. All Roadsters have 3 cylinders (except the 10 V6 Brabus versions). Check my channel if you don't believe me ;p. They have 6 spark plugs if that is what you mean, but only 3 cylinders!!
pointless pointless..... biturbo V6 and 170hp??? its same like to say : (5ltr V12 with 200hp), and -( i know a lot of good people that would "loose a finger" for this chance)
I did this (too short) ride the last year and the v6 is the ultimate dream for all the roadster owners. Nice vid

so how was it?

Is this per engine 215 per engine or what engine is lil monster
thanks :D

I've been trying to find a brabus or at LEAST a regular roadster to buy in Mexico. No luck.
It might have shown 130mph on the speedometer, but there is no way it would have been going anything like that fast.
um no they're not the stock engine in a run of the mill smart roadster is a 3cyl 700cc turbo
Avstrija, Zell am See (Kaprun)
@ma6netho
it's hardly a big heavy V6, its only a 1.4L
@jasminslo Stimmt schon!
215 HP in a car that weighs less than a single ton(1,852 lb), man that thing if put in the right hands could REALLY HAUL ass!.
It's not a regular v6 biturbo... It has two regular smart roadster engines... (700cc three cylinder turbo) X2= 1.4 L "v6" biturbo... :D
в него бы движок от триумфа рокет 3, во бы песня была )))
kje je to?..slo,, aut,,,,

It took longer to buckle him in than the actual drive LMAO.
That was funny.
Security 1st. Their car their rules
0-60 mph is 7 secs with 197 HP? Impossible
9 sec i would believe
is around 10 sec with regular 101 bhp Brabus version 0,7cc
would love to have a car like this with a 5.7L engine that feeds on horse blood, it must be made from the rarest rocks... from mars. and it must also have a power output of 1000 unicorns.
Not this tiny little 1.4!
OMG! He almost died.

Drive your FAILCar. :) I'll drive my PROCar.
Motorcycle engines have very little low RPM power (torque). Putting one in a car wouldn't be that fun.
Would love to have a car like this with a 1000cc RR motorcycle engine with 190HP
not this heavy V6
There's one on eBay but not roadster
its 1.4 dont think its heavy
It's V6 turbo
oh really ur PROCAR? LMFAO please put up a video to show us ur 'pro' car.

1.4L engine...
i still would never drive it. and atleast i have a car to drive
3 cil not v6
boring track
this car is so UGLY
It's adorable.
