I tried the demo and wanted to like this one, but it needs work in it's current state. The combat will likely be updated as time goes on, but the dodging feels too rigid and the I frames are not where they should be. Also, the enemies have no damage interrupt when you hit them and you can't cancel your swing to roll out of the attack. So if you're swinging, and the enemy swings while you are hitting them, you're locked into the animation and have to eat the blow. You should be able to roll out of an attack as soon as you see it coming. Makes the game a 'run past everything' simulator and I don't wanna do that.
@@scaleworksRC I agree. This game was not on my radar at all, but this review brought it to my attention. I immediately added it to the cart, but decided to try the demo first and I just didn't feel it. It's not terrible and the art is nice looking, but the player running animation looks comical as if the player really needs to use a restroom and the mechanics while a decent facsimile of Souls combat is just lacking. I think this has good bones, but the demo turned me away from it. Why play this when I can replay any of the From Soft games, Lies of P, or the Team Ninja games?
This seems like something that I might enjoy. So in taking in some souls-like mechanics but making the gameplay easier and more accessible, does that mean this should be called a souls-lite? Or maybe diet souls?😆
It is extremely condescending of you to say that people who enjoy souls games and soulslikes, don't think time is precious. It's also absurd because it implies playing more games is better than playing fewer games, as though quantity was preferable over quality.
It sounds like you're just looking for something to be upset about... I'm a Souls lover and think time is very precious, hence why I play great games like Souls games and not the waste of time movie games like Last of Us and Horizon. The reviewer's words shouldn't upset you. You don't have to agree with his thoughts, but to call it extremely condescending seems extremely oversensitive. You'd think that as a Souls fan you'd have a bit more mental toughness and not let that ruffle your feathers.
I identify with not liking souls games. They basically ask you to learn a useless skill in the most frustrating way possible. Life is stressful enough already, thanks 😅
One could argue that playing games in general is a useless skill. Soulslikes aren't for you and that's fine. I didn't immediately fall for them, but think that facing tough challenges and experiencing discomfort especially in your free time is a great way to build character, grit, and perseverance. All great skills that actually serve you really well in life. Shying away from challenge and discomfort and wanting things to be easy? It doesn't prepare you for the harsh challenges that life throws at you as you get older.
We all have different needs which can be complemented by gaming. I need to relax my brain after work, you need to build grit and character. It's all good, we're all different Other than that gaming is pretty useless for building skills. That doesn't stop me from gaming every day

@garythebard pretty much! I will keep an eye on this one 🤞
"What is this, some kinda Tyrant's Realm?"

😆
No. There's enough sub categories already lol
Please also review Heroes of Hammerwatch II.
I could not get the parry timing right to save my life. And yes the camera was ass.
It's definitely tricky to get the timing down!
This reminds me uncannily of Wizardry Online.
"Interesting to say the least" is my least favorite statement because usually after is a not interesting statement.
Thank you so much for supporting indie visibility

He just expressed his opinion on souls games. But you can take it as a personal attack to everything you stand for if you prefer 😂
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and voice to the voiceless!

Well said !
Typical souls player. Oversensitive and taking your anger out on others over nothing but an opinion. How's that for condescending?
Looks like the camera is from PS1 also

Totally fair!
