i was surprised to find out Nintendo is less censored then xbox and ps.
For now, Nintendo tends to be late in everything. Remember Fire Emblem Censorship, smash game n watch and paper mario remake? Always be vigilant, nothing's sacred nowadays even Nintendo do it.

Yeah they started in the 90s, loosen up a bit on wii, then go back on the 3DS and WiiU, then retracks on the switch again. This companies are fickle and more so on the gamers attention span.

The thing is, Sea Of Thieves was a game Rare wanted to make and is actually fun. The community interaction from the devs is also fantastic and you can feel the love they have for the game. I’m happy more people get to play it.
I was a massive fan of the OG Xbox and some of the games on Xbox 360 since my brother had the system. I had the OG with Halo CE and Halo 2. I have no idea what they are doing anymore.
My first game was Morrowind, and I played it to death. It's still my favorite elder scrolls.

I think the ONLY gaming company not to screw itself this year is Steam, everyone else is self harming more than a self flagellating priest.

I have other consoles, but I use my pc 98% of the time. There are so many options, I can play a pc game from 20 years ago, or emulate ps2, xbox 360, and other consoles, on top of the newer releases.

Game pass is a tough thing for me to support.
On the one hand I totally understand how it's a great offer for people on a tighter budget.
On the other hand, it's terrible for gamers long-term regarding the push towards a digital only, no ownership era.
I'm trying to fight against that push as hard as I can.

Another problem that is not immediately apparent is that by putting a bunch of games on gamepass, a game gets treated like shovelware. Investors can't see that the game is successful because a lot of people just play it there instead of buying it, and for the studio there is less incentive for adding contents into a game. It is not exactly what I call anti-consumer, but just not that good of a business practice long term.

As a PC player I haven’t had a physical copy of anything since the mid 2000’s. Fight all you want, but it’s pointless to do so. Even physical copies only have part of the game on it. Everything is already digital.

Xbox has been making a mistake with their brand since at least the Xbox One. XD
They were already idiots about the brand from the second console, the 360. Instead of realizing that the secondary features outside of gaming were a waste, they doubled down on the secondary features. It's always been a ridiculous approach to try and make the xbox into a multimedia thing. Rather than specializing into gaming and gaming only, they keep trying to turn the Xbox into a blocky laptop/DVD player/game console/etc.

I was a diehard XBox guy until they shut down my Gamertag to keep me safe from suspicious activity. But no matter how much info I give them, they won't return MY account. To keep me safe, they stole everything from me. WTF! All my games and money are gone.
Xbox was good but I jumped to PC before the Xbox one came out, I got a series S and X but sold them as I was just using them for emulation, I did not like what Sony was doing censoring Japanese games during the PS4 era as I saw it as a bad sign of things to come. Gamepass is great but like Netflix once you have played all the big titles the rest kust seem uninteresting.
adobe is a litmus test. They are and always have been the epitome of companies i won't give money to. Right up there with Apple and nike. Microsoft may be the worst.
With them buying Rare, you forget that they’ve also made along with both Double Helix & Iron Galaxy the fighting game Killer Instinct (2013) which was one of the best fighting games of the past decade.
A few consoles have come and gone over the years….Got my first PC games at 13, turned my homework machine into a gaming PC at 17 and have had one ever since. So 29 years of gaming on the PC. When times got tough Gamepass costs and steam does not.
Gimp had a good outpainting plugin, but I think something happened where it's too difficult to install now. Theoretically, Gimp 3.0 is going to come out in a few months, so perhaps the ability will come back at that time.

It's hard to say, really.
On one hand, it's always sad to see employees losing theirs jobs, especially for game devs (since it's never the ones causing problems that get removed), and Microsoft removing so much staff isn't looking bright.
On the other hand, most of these come from previously owned Bethesda studios, that Microsoft bought. Bethesda has been a real shitty place for a good while now, and a proper "clean-up" of that company and owned studios was definitely necessary.
So, without having all the data about what's currently going on in Microsoft, it's hard to get the full extent of how this will affect things going forward.
Issue is cleanup of Bethesda needs to start top down with Bethesda itself before ever touching the sub-studios, the rot in that company was at the top all the way down, just like with Blizzard/Activision but Microsoft dont really care about the workplace environment or ethics, they care about graph go up.
With me being a gamepass supporter, Microsfoft make it incredibly hard to support it. As a budget friendly option to just stream older games and indie games, I think this is gamepass' strength, I think it can work but on the other hand a lot of these gamespass games are monetized to shit, them shutting down some of their best studios isnt helping, having basically no exclusives compared to Sony isnt helpful, etc. They just cant get their shit together. There's no point in turning on my Playstation(dont care for their videogame movies anymore) or Xbox Series X anymore, and I'm switching to PC finally.
Considering they said they needed a game like Hi-Fi Rush - which audiences and critics praised - only to axe off the studio which made it and Evil Within... Microsoft is basically punching itself in the testicles with concrete boxing gloves covered in barbwire.

I'm a Nintendo/PC guy and by the looks of the other two major consoles I choose a wise combination.
Such a shame they won me over with the 360 era then i had to go back to playstation after the xbone launch plan. Never been back.
Guys, I've been Daily driving Linux for a while, and almost everyone I've heard says they want to run SteamOS on their computer. They're all wrong. SteamOS is an immutable system that is preconfigured for the Deck, yes it has a desktop mode, but it only has half the features that you would need for a proper computer experience, you would not be able to install AI models or anything else that is not on Flat hub, you also can't really customize it. It's very similar to saying you want to run PlayStation OS on your computer. It's good for gaming, but not for anything else.
Seconded. It's not too difficult to get similar gaming capability as SteamOS on a normal PC Linux operating system if you follow a few tutorials though. Linux Mint 22 will be real nice.
@@yigitorhan7654 Agreed. I've seen this trend of people saying "Oh I want to use Steam OS" all the way to Linus from LTT! It's partly because everyone has had SteamOS run perfectly out of the box. None of them realize that it's literally built only for that operating system. Linux mint is probably where I'd recommend people start with too. If people want to stay with windows that's ok. JUST DON'T TRY STEAMOS IT WONT WORK!!!!

Wait, what? Xbox is super pushing the woke stuff as well, they have a big fat creators programme with specific "not-mandatory" requirements in regards to quotas and body shapes for studios associated with them. They were really open about it around the time the SBI-Detected group was getting the initial coverage by kotaku.
As someone with all 4 gens they are losing the plot. I kinda understand the xbox one TV thing but have to really care for core aspect of gaming to maintain usage of the system starting with backward compatability

Keeping games going and selling their platform with exclusives
Thanks for the video, here is some full engagement as per usual.
Not only did Sony remove the PS 2 compatibility from the PS 3, they did it to previously purchased units (already in the hands of the public) by doing it in a live patch. AFTER they had used backwards compatibility as a selling point for the PS 3 in marketing the PS 3.
Every PS 3 owner should have received a 100% retail price reimbursement for every PS 2 and PS 3 product they EVER owned, as a result of Sony's actions.
there's been one thing that bothers me in all the console war and is the phone market. might sound strange, but phone today perform better than the previous gen consoles and nintendo with the switch, proves that people like to play on the go. Some games like genshin, honkai rail and others of the same style have released on both pc and phone, and i think that it speaks for themselves the success they had. I know that it would be expensive to creat a port for the phone, but wouldn´t they benefit from having games there? I think that thats a step to be taken sooner or later, but i find interesting the possebility of our pocket computers beeing used more has a computer, samsung already realesed the dex which let the phone work has a pc by adding a screen. So in the console war, the wc gamers, in my opinion, will have a fighting chance and, maybe become a side to be trully considered.
Starfield has great monetization potential, once its fixed to Fallout 4 level.., will take a few years though (also needs more explorable handcrafted maps)

that said, if Starfield could get atleast the same depth / complexity as F4 (which isn't that bad after all its DLCs & mod support). AND finally give Starfield huge maps to explore (multiple huge maps are needed with the DLCs), it could offer F4-like fun, in space..

but just moaning about how Starfield is (it has issues) and saying it cant be fix, is just wishing it can't be fixed..

game pass is modern dvd, if you have a direct to game pass game they either lost all faith in it, at some point in development, or it was made to be time wasting trash from day 1 of development. it's good for legacy games that already made money so they are put there to sell the service, especially if it's harder to play on it's original platform, but that's all it's good for... maybe also selling indie game that also don't exist to make money, when those studios admit they don't matter yet so they have to prove themselves. in that situation, yeah have more people try it so word of mouth makes consumers like the studio. then, after they get that good will, they can make their real games to make money from that fanbase. it's only for old games that sell and indie's first game. too many of the games are made for gamepass, in the worst ways, they waste time so you play it for most of a playthrough but the renewal of the subscription is due for that last 5 hours. you could have finished it 20 hours ago, if you knew how much of the content was a waste of time but you didn't... "well i guess i'll finish it and find something else for that next month, hopefully this doesn't happen again." sunk cost fallacy nonsense and, by design, it will happen again.
Hi fi rush happened like this, everyone played it, everyone liked it, no one bought it, this is just one of the small studios that had a deal with Xbox Game Pass and got axed either by microsoft or because whatever they got out of that deal didnt work for them at all long term, even if their game exceeded expectations.
I've got dual boot, Can play steam and gog on Linux so gaming on linux amongst other things is coming along quite well
Pretty the only time Xbox was 'better' than PlayStation was during the first couple years of the X360. Before the RROD fiasco and before Sony restarted the proverbial engine with the PS3.
I also want to add that the Steam Deck and SteamOS are DOA. The Deck isn't selling and its player stats are non existent. Valve opting to not create native games for the Deck sealed its fate. There simply isn't a market, to any degree, for players to play games at minimum quality levels, at barely tolerable frame rates. Had Valve decided to create/fund native games for the Deck's modest hardware, it might be a different story, but they'd be starting from near bottom. That angle is a hard sell to shareholders, essentially telling them they're going to lose money every year for several years.
Likewise, 'Desktop Linux' has been fools gold since I was in highschool in the 90s. It caters to two groups only, with nothing in the middle. One group is the elderly or completely non--tech people, for whom you can install Ubuntu, lock it down, and make it impossible for them to break anything, install any malware, etc. The other is the fast opposite end, who are extremely technically minded, who are adept at using a shell for even the most mundane of tasks. Desktop Linux doesn't work for anyone in the middle; someone who simply wants to update their GPU drivers without an OS wipe or grab one of their preferred utilities or applications off the web finds Linux an intolerable mess. And thats before you run into game compatiblity issues, performance decreases, non-optimized power settings, etc. Part of the reason that Linux is stuck in this zombified position is its own fanbase. The people who use it, love this state and gatekeep to an extreme degree. It may keep their community 'pure', but its also kept it functionally dead.
Valve's SteamOS exists only as a finger wag to Microsoft, to warn them not to lock all Windows applications to the Windows Store . . . which is unlikely to happen given that most of that aforementioned crowd uninstall the Windows Store app immediately after installing W10/W11.
As far as the next generation of set up consoles go . . eh. Lot of speculation to go around, but I would say that any doompills are way premature. In 2012, we had pundits and talking suits claiming both set top consoles and PC gaming were dead, and that all gaming would be superceded by mobile phones. Today, both set top consoles and PC gaming are selling at peak levels while mobile gaming is near universally regarded as shovelware. Claims that set top consoles will move to the cloud, likely not going to happen. See Google Stadia. Even before its shutter, the quality it was able to deliver was abyssal. Its a hard sell to have people pay a subscription for sub standard quality. Subscription based platforms and services likely have a future, unfortunately, the amount of people claiming Gamepass is great sickens me.
I used to fix PS2's. I do not recall PS2's not working with PSX games. As for PS3, the launch console had PS1 and PS2 support, because it had the PS2 EE chip to run PS2 games, later on it could emulate some PS2 games. The 360 and XBone also had previous console emulation but it every wonky and imperfect.
Nintendo also dropped BWC with the switch. Between not being able to backup and control my saves(yes I use to use PC adapter to save my memcards)and loss of backwards compatibility, I just focused on the PC gaming and emulation.
As fas as media center goes that was always jank and had to be fiddled with, and PlayStation online wants total control of content on their servers to prevent cheating and trophy spoofing, which made it hard third party support, IE Bethesda’s mod. You have to remember that PlayStation is a Japanese brand that was an insular company. But years ago they moved headquarters to California, hence all the censorship and other insanity.
Windows has been forcing updates that make Window worse with each update is in the name of "Security" when Windows steals your info as part of the user agreement.
Tango was critically successful but commercially underperforming. Hi-Fi Rush, as per words of director was not a small game and not a cheap one, and given that it turned out to have a niche potential, he tried to push for even more expensive sequel.
From a programmer perspective, exclusives are good because you can patch easier without having to work on patches for multiple platforms. From a developer standpoint, it means more effort but also potentially larger audience.
The annoying thing about Xbox leaning so heavily into Gamepass and software publishing is that putting out good consoles is the only thing they’re consistently good at. The Series X itself is a great piece of hardware, and they’ve done a crappy job getting people to buy one. It’s bizarre that they don’t seem to care about selling consoles since that’s their only feasible path to getting more Gamepass members.
It's funny how everyone sits and argues over playstation and microsoft when they could just get a pc, probably spend less money overall, not have to worry about backwards compatibility and have storefronts in competition with each other so the service constantly improves. Gotta stay locked into that walled garden I suppose.
Speaking facts Ryan, I think people prefer console mainly because it's more "affordable" and or not as complex as PC. I'm still working on getting me one since I'm getting of being limited to games on Xbox and paying for online. It's may be a big investment at first but things will get better and easier over time as I grow more used to it.
@@sacredpower7530 the biggest issue is the initial investment but over time it tends to be cheaper. I think a lot of people fail to realize just how much they're paying for online over time. When you add in 6 to 7 years of online on top of the purchase price of the console you really start getting into the $900-1000 range for the console.
That's why I really try to tell people PC is not as daunting as they think. Consoles are really quickly moving into rip-off territory for what they offer. They're not quite there but they're coming up to the line.
Gamepass is the reason. Everyone was happy for the Gamepass but me, i looked at it and had no interest in it. Its pretty much timetrial for games on it, Demos with a pricetag. And i don't wanna pay for Demo playtime. If i wanted a game with timetrial, Steam is far superior with their refund system.
I had a month of Gamepass the price of a can soda. Used it as demo service and when it finished State of Decay 2 was the only potential new game I was interested in. Saved me money to put elsewhere. Never renewed past the trial offer.
Gamepass is actually a good thing when you recieve it for free as I did. And I can play/demo all games I wanted to buy previously, and if they're bad I just wont buy them, if they're mediocre like Ubi games, I'll just casually play them, but wont give Ubi my money, if they're genuinely good then I will buy them on steam.
But yeah, paying for Gamepass is only reasonable if you have a lot of games you would like to try and decide which are worth purchasing

5:45 I've hated game-pass from the start. Even if the value proposition for the consumer is awesome, if all the games on it are amazing, the way it's structured is bad. It's giving the PR people all the power in how they manipulate perception. So long as game-pass is "worth it" they can claim any games they want are the reason it's "worth it" and business majors will believe what they're told because they don't like any of the games anyway so they don't know the difference.
A truly successful game should incentivize its own continuation/subsequent iterations, not the survival of substandard extras on the same service.

I'd love to get a PC and have access to absolutely almost anything in the market. It's just so expensive to get started. You can get a Series X or PS5 for the quarter of the price. Smh.
Buy a gaming PC on sale. There are big price cuts around October/November going into Black Friday. And remember that online play is free on PC, so you're not paying $120 per year for online play. If you own a Series X or PS5 for five or six years and pay $10/month for online play, you'll pay the equivalent of a gaming PC over that time. So, if you want a PC, just save your money and go for it. I was a console gamer since the Atari 2600. When Xbox One rolled around with TV, TV, TV, sports, sports, sports, I said, "Nope. I'm saving for a PC." It took five years to save up the money, but I got my first gaming PC, and I haven't looked back. I'm never buying another console ever again. PC is just too good. And hey, while I was enjoying PC gaming and free online play and buying Steam games on sale (and I bought all the Xbox One games that I missed when I didn't buy an Xbox One), I was saving up for the next gaming PC that I bought not too long ago. So, you can move from console to PC gaming. You just have to plan for it and not buy a new console while saving up for your PC.
Why Xbox One failed:
It ultimately comes down to that EA partnership and it went on from there.
But it lead to one thing, Sony’s super inflated ego and vanity. They honestly think they can do no wrong, mostly thanks to the gaming community never criticizing them for their mistakes.
I changed to xbox after the PS2.. mainly for Halo. But my xbox has been a Halo machine ever since because with the exception of a few other games, I've been using a PC.
I do miss some of those playstation exclusives though... maybe that's why they should keep them.
My wife and I also have a PS4 and Ghost of Tsushima was quite exceptional

Honestly Xbox may have its fair Share problems but I only use it for its Backwood compatibility thats always more Important to me then new games I would rather still have a way play old games on newer Systems then Waste my time on new ones xbox and xbox 360 all the way

i bought a xb1 thinking it would have the ability to play my 360 games. It did for a few, others i had to buy if i wanted to play. It had the ability to and it would have been a thing of beauty.

Gamers really dont care so much about 'exclusives' as all it usually does is force them to own several different platforms, serving only to benefit the platform owners. Gamers would generally like access to all games, and to hell with the platforms. All games available at sensible prices and not "oh this one is exclusive to this platform and therefore $100 rather than $50" like normal games is what gamers would like most.

I'm with Shad on this one. Exclusive games are dog crap from a consumer's point of view. Great from a business point of view, but I'm not a business. EA's big idea to put ads in previously purchased games is genius from a business point of view, but F them for even considering it.
PlayStation is a great console, but it's gotten bloated and empty at the same time because when Sony is winning, they get greedy and bullheaded.
I really miss basic consoles that just loaded the game you wanted to play. Honestly physical only makes better games, but if you wanna have a digital store, I understand, but leave the ads inside the store

Gamepass is great for the consumer but not for gaming as a whole.
I work in the industry and pretty much everyone knew it was going to fail as they weren't recovering costs only small scale indies actually done wel from it.
people essentially stopped buying games on xbox and would wait for it to come to gamepass im surprised Upper echelon at Microsoft didn't do anything sooner and now some great studio fell due to phil Spencer team mismanaging the Xbox division.
Xbox better than Sony? I had an Xbox and PlayStation together since PS2 and the 1st XBox. Decided not to buy Xboxes anymore after the 360 and never regretted it. Never missed the Halo franchise at all. That said Sony did drop a ball with games for the PS5. To me a PS5 is basically a PS4 without the noise it makes haha.
Gamepass has made a steady 3 billion every year.
The recent investment in Activision is 60 billion, and Zenimax was 8 billion.
Xbox isn't profitable in the same way PlayStation is; it doesnt stand apart in the same way, as it's just a less-capable PC.

What keep up? I've bought two gaming PCs so far, and all the money I spent on them was what I paid when I bought them. My newest PC is a laptop that I paid $1100 for. If I bought an Xbox Series X, I would've paid $500, sure, but if I paid $10 per month to play online (or $120 per year), I would equal that same $1100 after five years. So, my gaming laptop with free online gaming, after five years, is equal in cost to the Xbox Series X with $10/month online gaming, and my gaming laptop is more powerful than a Series X. And I can play games with mods. And I get all of Microsoft's first-party games anyway. And I can do writing and video editing on my gaming laptop. Essentially, I'm getting more for my money than if I bought a Series X.

You've got it wrong they are not inferring that it was nuked before/during New Vegas. I believe Todd Howard was in a interview shortly after the show released and then stated the fall of Shady Sands is a separate event before said bomb. As to what the event is we don't know.

. I'm a pure blood who was never jabbed with the consoles propaganda. I had friends who could afford the peasants Xbox, or the bumpkin PlayStation, but not both. I learned only certain games functioned with their overlord. That NEVER made sense to me because they were all a program... made with a computer. So by the time I could afford a console, I got a PC Master Race. Then I learned about the superiority of MODs, the Spectacular Graphics, and of course, the Mastery of gaming.

Consoles died out after the 360 PS3 era, and exclusives should really be either timed exclusives, or for character icons (halo for Microsoft, Zelda and mario for Nintendo). There is no excuse for exclusives anymore with today's lack of experimenting
Games as a service, also seen as renting, should also not be as expensive as purchase to own games from the past
The "always online" feature completely ruined Xbox for me so I switched over to PlayStation.

Both problems are much diminished in current year, other than some AAA nonsense attempting to animate individual eyelashes, you can get a PC that runs most stuff at a price point not dissimilar to a current gen console. The driver and AV problems are much less prevalent nowadays as games do a lot less technically shady stuff (in special because you can't be too insane and still be on Steam)

I bought my current PC for 300£. Its more than enough for my Steam games. Im not paying 70£ per game. I havent had driver or antivirus issues in like 10 years. 😂
The thing with a PC is, you dont use it just for games like you do a console. A PC has many other uses.
As a die hard Xbox fan, Xbox stopped being competitive with the launch of the Xbox One. The "always online" and "always on kinect" was such bad PR that any good will from the Xbox 360 days was extinguished. Then the launch was weak in terms of exclusive games (a problem of most newer consoles, but certainly felt with the Xbone). While exclusive sharing is consumer friendly, Xbox giving up Sea of Thieves makes me sit and ask why I bought this stupid paper weight. The brands that used to make Xbox a mainstay (Halo, Gears, Fable, Titanfall, Sea of Thieves, etc) either stopped being made, were produced half assed to the point of destroying their legacy, or can be played elsewhere. I would say PlayStation fans are eating good with Helldivers, God of War, and Spiderman. Nintendo still has the most iconic brands even though their consoles have always been inferior. Xbox is done

Playstation anti consumer practices forced me away from Playstation.

Mods ruin PC for me. People who feel the need to mod everything are essentially crapping all over the original game. The mentality of modders and by extension, people who use mods basically says "Your game is ok, but I can make it better than you."
Well, if the vanilla version isn't good enough, play something else. Appropriating a developer's hard work just to make it how YOU want it is EXTREMELY selfish, arrogant, and disrespectful.

Mods enhance the gaming experience by offering alternative versions of the game, but enjoying the vanilla game doesn't preclude enjoying modded versions as well.
Personally, I've invested countless hours in base Skyrim, Fallout 3, and New Vegas, finding enjoyment in their original forms. However, modded versions of these games objectively offer a richer and more enjoyable experience.
If you're a PC gamer, mods aren't imposed on you; they're like toppings on a pizza that you get to choose and customize according to your preferences. It's up to each individual to tailor their gaming experience to their liking. Therefore, I don't understand how mods could ruin the PC gaming experience for you.

Well, Nintendo is always a 100 to 200 dollars cheaper than the competitors. And none of them are more family friendly than Nintendo. They're coming out with a Switch 2 in a year or so. I say, buy the Switch 2. Then spend the extra 100 dollars are so on a media player. You'll have the best of both worlds.
There's effectively no reason to stick with Xbox anymore, because it has no exclusive games that either A, can't be played on PC, or B, are even worth the time anymore. They've made virtually everything cross-platform with PC too, so if the game is competitive, Xbox players are at a disadvantage by design.
Playstation still has some exclusives, but most of them have either declined in quality, or are now also coming to PC. Sony is a worse company if you really want to dig into it, but they're both horrifically bad.
I used to be a console gamer because it put everyone on equal footing, and there was a reasonable expectation that the game would work with the system at the time of purchase. Well, neither of these things are true now.
In other words, both companies are shoving (not pushing) players towards PC gaming anyway.

Also, Shad kept saying PlayStation has done things to "force" you to buy the previous console, which makes no business sense. What actually happened is that the features Shad is complaining about being removed simply weren't used, so they were removed. Not saying he's wrong to feel annoyed, but it's just not what Shad thinks it is.
Lastly, the PS5 is equivalently powerful to Xbox Series X, and in terms of sheer sales, PS5 is almost on par with where PS4 was at this point. So PlayStation is certainly "winning" right now.
No PlayStation isn’t winning. Forcing everyone to either make a PlayStation account or outright removing Helldivers 2 isn’t winning. Square enix has just stated that they can no longer do anymore PlayStation exclusive games because of their own survival as a business is on the line.
Nintendo is winning. You can't argue with 140 million consoles sold. Even if PS5 is on par with the PS4, the PS4 sold 117 million, which is well below 140 million. So, the Switch will win this generation with the PS5 coming in second. Next gen is Switch 2 (2025 release) vs PS6 (2027 release). We'll see what happens there.

I always was a PC guy and I will stay there, consoles were, are and will be irrelevant to me.
I think they made a mistake once they bought activision and bethesda. Their eyes were too big and they were already a massive company. Massive companies are gonna start dying. I like Xbox but they’re making a lot of unforced errors.

The industry is slowly going subscription model thru cloud soon because most games that's profitable nowadays are live services. Mobile is going to be the future of the industry alongside Docking hybrid portables. There's gonna be no more console PC fanboi wars but a launcher war in the future. I've got a PC, but I'd pick XBox over PlayStation. There are/were a good few exclusives that XBox has/had, while Sony had *maybe* three games I thought looked interesting.
Heck, even with said PC, I *still* don't own a single Sony game. On the other side, the last time I bought an XBox exclusive, Grounded (early access) was in 2020, and that's no longer exclusive to XBox.
AAA games are dead to me. I don't enjoy most of them, and the one's I do enjoy are older games (15+ years old). Far too many cutscenes/unnecessary dialogue, which feels like padding to waste your time.
I know you like the game, and it's well-received overall, but Baldur's Gate 3 is one of those games. I don't enjoy cutscene/negotiation/conversation segments at all. The more there are, the more I'll hate my experience. I didn't get it myself, but my sister got it for me so we could play together; I only plan to play it when my sis wants to.
If you want a game to play with your kids, I'd recommend Wobbly Life. Inexpensive and simplistic, but quite fun (comparable to Simpsons Hit & Run or GTA in ways, but without any graphic content or swearing, replaced with a load of jobs, mini games and puzzles).
I don't understand why anyone would think Xbox is making a mistake, unless they're just a console fanboy. It's clear that the era of regular consoles is over, especially knowing that the future will be cloud gaming. There's no point in buying a console that's just going to be outdated technology the second it begins development, and not just create a platform that's designed to stream games efficiently. You don't need a super graphics card to render 4k or 8k graphics, you just need a graphics card powerful enough to play an 8k video stream. Console players have already long since largely given up the fight on discs and are opting for digital downloads, PC players have definitely largely given up on CDs as well. I haven't had a computer with a CD drive in more than a decade. Microsoft is just ahead of the curve on this one by pivoting full swing into cloud gaming. While Sony struggles to catch up, or struggles to produce a console that can compete with what Xbox is certainly preparing to launch, a cloud gaming platform that will look and run leagues better than what a typical console can produce with higher FPS as well. This is a major win for gamers in my opinion. Consoles have been holding back the industry for a long time with Developers having to dumb down graphics to be able to run on a console that struggles to get to 30fps, let alone 60, or 120, or 144+.

As of right now Xbox has objectively better hardware, better UI, and is more consumer friendly. The only edge Playstation has over Xbox is exclusives but that's only if you actually care about them
They may have more powerful hardware but they haven't used it effectively while playstation exclusives while being on weaker hardware looks better and even multiplats tends to have better performance with some expectations.
Xbox while it's more consumer free due to gamepass it's coming at the expense of the games and there quality as most games they release aren't breaking even.
The way Microsoft is doing things is going to cause a gaming crash which is something I fear as somebody working in the industry.
When I got my PS4 I played it fairly regularly for about 2 months and I haven't touched it since I got the PS4 about 3 or 4 months into its life cycle I have a PC and an Xbox I rarely play the PC mostly just the Xbox mainly because that's where my friends play unfortunately Game Pass is getting a bit crazy but yes for now I will be sticking with Game Pass the biggest problem with PC versus console let's take Fallout 3 for example if I wanted to play Fallout 3 on Xbox pop in the disc or install the game and I'm Off to the Races playing the game however if I wanted to play Fallout 3 on the PC I legitimately have to go into the game files and mod the game changing stuff around adding Stuff Etc just to get the game to boot past the title screen I'm not going to mud a game just to play the default game and I have a pretty good PC not top of the line but around mid to higher but as far as Fallout 3 goes it's extremely good it's just the fact that they don't ever fix their games to be able to properly run on New PCS but they have to make it to where it works on console

Shad "over the last few years I've been liking xbox more". They've been making absolutely terrible games. What exactly have they done that's good? Other than gamepass which is what is destroying their studios. Nobody actually pays money for their games and gamepass is already saturated. Their exclusives aren't attracting anyone.
