Always enjoyed Albert Brooks. If you haven't seen his film "Modern Romance", I highly recommend it. There's a great scene between Brooks and his brother, Bob Einstein.
I live in a facility due to advanced MS. A couple nights ago I mentioned Colbert to an aide. She thought I said cold beer. Same thing twice more when I said it. I said Colbert to a different aide this morning. Same result. I asked her if she ever heard of David Letterman. No. Johnny Carson. No. Here Albert Brooks is talking about Rudolph Valentino. We are old. Happy Thanksgiving!
A good point. A legendary British rock band performed their last American gig as the original quartet on SNL at 30 Rock around this airdate on November 25, 1982. Then the frontman dies less than ten years.
I'm so old, I can't remember if I saw highlights or the original. I do remember the, "Pro Shop!" guy! Plutonium balls? "No problem!"..... that brought me to tears. If you have ever been in a bowling alley- it is perfect!
Every now and then Albert kind of drifts into being possessed by Lenny Bruce. The pace of his speech and movements. For instance as he is talking about bowling. It was good.
I get a strong Robin Williams-style free-association with miscellaneous quick-change characters popping in and out. Never connected Brooks and Williams before. Strange. Is it just me??
November 24, 1982 I lived in alphabet city attending parochial school in the 6th grade. I was not allowed to watch tv at 12:35am. No wonder I don't recall this appearance.

Circa 1982 I was just finishing up three years as a computer mainframe operator in Colorado Denver printing everyone's unemployment and workman's comp checks like a good civil servant.😅 And this is how I know what makes government work and what makes it not work and who are the good guys and the bad guys I've been doing this 50 years or more, paying attention that is...🎉
"Pro Shop! No Problem!" is my eternal catchphrase.
Love Albert Brooks ❤
If you haven't seen him in "Defending My Life" with Meryl Streep, do it now. Pure genius.
"Defending Your Life"
It absolutely is. I love the concept of him breaking all the 'rules' of the afterlife because of his love for Meryl Streep.

A favorite film of mine...absolutely hilarious
@@michaelparks6120 I love that they got James Brooks to play an incompetent director.
Oh, I didn't realize that....next time I watch it, I will take note....thanks!
"Lost in America" is another classic! 😆
@@Jim_L it is !

Completely singular comedic sensibility. A lot like Dave in that regard.
With how topical you upload these it has me worried people have died now lol.

I had to check the news before I watched, preparing myself for sadness

This is one of the rare interviews when Dave was laughing more than the audience.

He sounds to me like George Costanza possessed by, alternatively, Robin Williams , and Richard lewis.@@docproc6730
@@docproc6730 I got Robin too.
Appreciate knowing I'm not alone on that! Thanks, Gregg.
@@docproc6730yeah I was also getting Robin Williams vibes 😁
The set looks luke it cost $50. Letterman interviewing Brooks...😊 priceless.
Albert Brooks is such fun.
I could just listen to Albert speak all day honestly lol
Super Dave's brother.
Dang, I watched the Twilight Zone movie, and Albert Brooks was in it. At first I thought it was Jason Alexander when he had more hair.

Get him on the Maron podcast! (That cryptic bit at end of Tuesday's show!)
Weirdest line ... "There's only two talk shows on."
And this guy portrayed a...

Albert is who Robin Williams wanted to be, but he just didn't have the stuff.
"No problem!"
I lay on a bed of pins every night. Try it Albert, it may help you.
Albert said pot… no problem 😂
Cocaine is a hell of a drug. so they say.
Quick show of hands: who thinks Albert Brooks was high?
He seems coked up.
Cocaine is a helluva drug!
Jeeze i thougjt he died or something i had to Google him
And then he married a woman 19 years his junior.
This guy is Mr Random. His brother was so much funnier than him.
Then why is Albert a beloved comedian and director and his brother is primarily known for a one joke character?
Not gonna trash either one but this guy is a genius, and I do know the real names, both genius, one worked harder, one had more fun.
