New models from 2018 + are so much better in every possible way. There are so many details in the exterior and interior improved. Better materials and fit and finish. Front and rear bumper sleeker and aerodynamics improved. Plus, the new electronic steering system, increased HP, and the driving assistance systems added, all these make it a lot better than the previous model. Now it is worth the money for sure. This is in my personal ownership experience.
2019 all the way. It looks more aggressive from the outside and the interior is more appealing to the eye. But it’s not like yours is chopped liver. I definitely like the price on the 2016 today in comparison to the 2019!
Thats the kicker Carla, when you can get a pre-owned model for such a low price, would you rather save the money and get the older look/options/tech or jump into whats new and innovative...
Any of these chsnges you can do yourself, swap the rear bumper swap the Info unit etc, the cup holders you can't hide away are ugly, in an italian car, who wants to see a cup holder?
i love those new headlights and the new lower front bumper/splitter but if someone showed up and offered me either car for free, well, heh, i don’t think I’d be picky
Tough one to choose Ron. i like attributes on both. I like the Gransport front but like the full blackroof on yours. interior? yours wins hands down. Put the front end on your car, then it's a clear choice. Great video, thanks Ron.
Thanks Fred, whats funny is as soon as they came out with that GS bumper F/R I wanted them! I coudlnt imagine what a pain in the ass it would have been but worth it lol.
Either one looks very good Ron. I think the Gransport wins from a styling point of view.... but ever so slightly. It's a little more aggressive, with the bigger air intakes at the front. On your 2016, the black wrap on the front, the roof and mirrors were good updates. Your two-tone seats look nicer too. I would be tempted to get a can of black paint paint and make the chrome window strips black too! (okay, maybe not with a rattle can, take it somewhere and get it done right...). Another thorough and good video, I enjoyed it!
Thank you for your feedback Martyn and yeah no can of paint lol. I thought about doing a chrome delete wrap but everyone was doing that so I figured i'd keep it as is and stand out a little more.
@@RonsRides you do very well Ron it is a pleasure to watch. Another visible significant change it is also the cluster screen the image is bigger in the 2019 with more detailed menu
I am looking at a 2020 Ghibli right now and I think if I had to choose between these two I would take the new one, but it would be close. I have to have the S model and the 424 HP or else it really isn't worth it in my mind. How has the piano black worked in your interior? I hear it shows fingerprints like crazy. Which is steering me towards some sort of darker wood finish. I'm not really a carbon interior guy.
Ron's Rides! To be quite honest I only respect maserati's because of you and your passion for the brand. The 2019 Ghibli looks pretty slick though! Keep up the good work my man.
Very nice video. I do like the 2019 with the extra piece of white plastic closing off the front intakes. I just bought a Certified Pre Owned 2015 Ghibli S Q4 with 15,000 miles. Has options of the 20 inch wheels, Alcantara pillars and headrest, Shyhook suspension, Carbon fiber trim, Premium and Luxury packages, red calipers, and "premium sound system." Payed 50 grand less than sticker, and as I see some other comments were already made, definitely worth buying CPO.... My biggest complaint is the "premium" sound system and touchscreen. Being Chrysler is the parent company the touchscreen is basically the same as my 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, and the stereo in the Ram CRUSHES the stereo in the Maserati. Thoroughly disappointed that a $95,000 car has a stereo that sounds horrible. Yes, I'm very particular about music and sound quality, wish I had the B & W system. Any recommendations out there to get better sound out of this system without putting a new head unit in?????? The stereo has plenty of highs, needs more mid bass and low end. Power amp for the speakers and powered subwoofer that's small but big in sound???
I really like what Maserati has done. The changes are subtle but incredibly effective. The front-end changes are far less noticable (which I think is a good thing since the front-end has always looked good). But, the back of the original Ghiblis is now REALLY dated. When it came out, people frequently acccused it of looking like a Kia. The diffuser was non-existent. The tail lights were simplistic and uninspired (though not sure if these are attributable to the nerissimo pack). It just looked far too pedestrian as you pointed out, particularly following up the beautiful, unmistakable rear end of the gen V Quattroporte. The interior upgrades are much needed, though I wish they'd offer the carbon-backed buckets from the Granturismo in the Gibli (along with the fully carbon fiber steering wheel) Overall, great video, Ron!
Thank you so much and for really seeing what I was trying to convey here. Its come SUCH a long way and obviously there are things that still could be improved like panel gaps, fit and finishes in the interior etc. But those are thins I think the refreshed Ghibli will address and then the Maserati market will will have something on their hands!
@@RonsRides Honestly, I cannot see any issue with the fit and finish on mine. Maybe it depends on each vehicle, considering that the Ghibli is finished by hand in Grugliasco, Italy. There is still a "handcrafted" uniqueness for each vehicle. ;)
Ron I actually own a 2018 SQ4 I feel differently from you, our 2016-18 rear bumpers look more full & chunky, the cut outs in the 2019 make it look more skinny, just my opinion 👍🏽
Let me ask you something; would the newer rear diffuser and bumper from the newer Ghibli bolt right onto yours in place? I guess you might have a color match issue, but I think yours looks great man. Look, I bought a new 2016 E63 AMGs, and voila, two years later they did a complete redesign and upped the HP from 578hp to 612hp, but you know what? The newer ones are cool, but they’ve changed the exhaust note so much and made the inside so overly electronic that I’m happy with mine. Just stick with the one you have - it’s an awesome vehicle 👍🏻
If you could do it over again, would you have gone with a CPO? I often think about that just to save on depreciation. Also, have you had any of the issues so many of the naysayers have posted about? Really like the car and might consider a CPO Ghibli once the car markets normalize…if ever.
You’re not going to notice 59 horsepower, especially when it’s at the top end. Like what u did with your roof, but the changes made over the life of the model up to the 2019 model seem to have fixes all the issues. I’d take the 2019. The seats in the Gran Sport can’t be beat.
Well yours better simple fact cuz the price right now yours will cost like 20-25k $ so that means it will be more better to add features and still looking great instead paying 94k
Hey Ron Very nice video, I really like your Maserati. Actually I am interesting in buying one from 2016. Can give some advices or what to pay attention at? How is the performance, fuel consumption, reliability, etc. Thank you anticipated!
Hey AutoSpeed, if you're new to the channel I've made a playlist with Maserati Ghibli videos on all of these topics that you should check out. Make sure you have some time on your hands because there are A LOT of them!
WHEEEERES THE NEW GEN OF GRAN TURISMO!!!! No the Facelift old GranTursimo All brands are making super awesome handsome cars and Maserati keeps just doing Facelifts Really?????? By the way, Great video as always Ron! Thanks for sharing all this Maserati world with us!
Anytime Soy! And like you I also am disappointed in waiting to see what Maserati will do with the GT. We know the coupe was discontinued for 2019 and only 2019 GT Convertibles are out there currently but after this what... who really knows at this point!
Hey man I've been lurking in your videos for a while and I like your content! I have a few questions to ask you regarding Maseratis in general and was wondering if there is a good place for me to contact you like IG or anything of the sort? Also, subscribed!
I'm not sure about new cars compared to certified pre owned maseratis, or how different dealers from around the country operate, but I attempted to negotiate on a CPO 2015 and the salesman said the price is the price. Reasons given were CPO cars automatically get new brake pads and tires, as well as anything else to "recondition" the car to factory specs. Plus you get an additional 2 years warranty after the factory warranty expires.... I just bought the car because I loved it and wanted it.
I'm getting a Ghibli because of your reviews, attension to the details. Thanks for all your work Ron.

Nice, I'm looking at a 2018 Ghibli, aftermarket gold alloys - can't wait
Ron, Is the 2019 different to the 2018, as I thought 18’ was the facelift year 🤔
Awesome video, I’ve always loved this car and all I ever hear is people trashing them, but I actually think they’re good cars. Thanks for the video 👍🏻

Also, your car looks awesome, so I wouldn’t have any regrets as you said. Beautiful cars.
The 2016 was available with ventilated seats if you have the "Luxury Plus" package. This package was also available with the Zegna seats.
Premium Pack gives you parking sensors, remote start, and sunshade I believe.
i love those new headlights and the new lower front bumper/splitter but if someone showed up and offered me either car for free, well, heh, i don’t think I’d be picky

Both are nice 💯💯
New cars are always going to be refined. I still like your 2016 Ghibli better. There’ll never be another spec like yours because you made it unique.
Thanks Miggs, appreciate the love!
so beautiful both !!!
Thank you!!
By définition the 2019 have been modified 70% compared to previous models
Exactly and im not sure how much that is conveyed on this video but tried my best to demonstrate that.

I’ve heard that before. Some say the newer bumpers have more of a round and feminine look. So I def see it from both perspectives.
Love yours as well.

I'd flip a coin and take either one. I have to say that you modded your car very tastefully. Not overdone at all.
I will take the rear of the 2019.
That’s totally fair and yeah I didn’t want to be tacky with it and spoil the essence of the car.

Old vs New! Which Maserati Ghibli looks BETTER?!
Rons Rides both👍🔥🇲🇰
Hey im totally okay with that decision haha.
Both are beautiful, only thing i didn't like in ghibli is that huge plastic around the central display. They must redesign that piece.
Bro can’t lie that grandsport is clean I hope you upgrade to a 2019 grandsport s
I like the 2019.when your steering wheel was flaking was it covered under warranty???
2019 wins!!! Good job!
White roof definitely
Was it possible to get the facelit model with a wooden center console?
Hey Ron

You're too kind. I think it only looks like that because I wrapped it.
You Bumped Your Head! The 2019 Front end Blows away all other years. Not even close!

Is that a Pearl white?
2016! Hands down! Your car has the best appearance, inside and out!
You’re too kind Steve!!!!
I’d do a 2018 grandsport s used
Grand sport!

Just to sum up, the difference between the 2016s and 2019s are:
there is NO difference.
Buying 2019 gransport sq4 AWD in 26 days;)))))))))
Ill say 50/50
A very unbiased opinion. I dig it lol.
2019
Changed and still totally unreliable!
I like the 2019 best. But power over looks every single day of the week
Thats the deciding factor right there, power vs style!
Hey man I'm thinking of getting a 16 from mazdaratti how has your maintenance been?
Wot does mazdaratti mean
Mazdaratti 💀💀💀💀
New one!
The 2019
Sorry Ron but I would take the 19 hows the car shopping going?
Travis no hard feelings man. I think I’m 3 weeks out from making my final decision and moving forward.
Some Quattroporte content please!!!!!
I really need to make QP vids. This dealer only has one left and it’s in the showroom but I’ll make it happen lol
I mean i like the Ghibli but not a fan of it but the Quattroporte and Levante..... Totally different ball game
Why do they charge a different price for a different color?
More involving paint process and better/more paint. It’s like having your 2 or 3 different paints on your car vs 1...
Which exhaust is much louder between 2016 and 2019?
It's about the same. Always glorious!
Does the trident illuminate at night like mercedes?
No because thats tacky. But when you open the door, the stainless steel Maserati script is illuminated.
Hey how do I contact you need email
Gransport!!!!
I think this means you need a get a 2019?? :)
Lol nice try Joe!
I prefer the gransport
Its the look you expect out of a Masi for sure!
Did you honestly pay MSRP on the car? 😳 did you. It negotiate at all? Lol
I had negative equity from my 1st Ghibli so there wasn’t much I could do about it back then.

This car is one of the biggest POS on the market. Just check out all of the reviews. My buddy has one and has nothing but problems with it.
They look exactly the same to me. The laziest facelift ever. The car is too small. Get a quattroporte.
The 2019 model looks good but the 2016 looks better
Maserati with VM motori ,fiat group engine 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎is not reliable, sorry for that!
Maserati copied Ron lol
Just a nice comparison, of trash cans.
Have you had alot of problems with your car
2019
