Ex SAF regular here Major Lau Wei Yong was one of the best officers i had pleasure serving with. He was my Platoon Commander back in the force. He was never afraid to get his hands dirty with his fellow junior commanders and troopers. What you see here is what you get. Humble and amazing guy. Proud of you Sir! Hoorah!
can I say that Ghib your level of interviewing skill has improve so much, you're like a natural asking those good question. Keep these quality and unqiue video coming. loving em
Wei Yong is an inspiration to those who wants to get out of their comfort zone to venture into something they have never done before. More importantly, he has no qualms about being a hawker even though he was a senior military officer.
Somehow the best officers I know leave the SAF relatively young and don’t stay till retirement. I don’t know this guy but it seems like people here have good experiences working with him.
Bro..I have personal experience with him...he was my PC over at my unit in Nee Soon camp...I too am an ex regular...this guy super solid...love him. Hw he is in the video is hw he is in real life☺️🫡
I have heard about this gentleman Wei Yong and his food. Looking forward to try it as it looks really good. It will be my honour to try the food cooked by an ex CO or S3 in SAF 👍🏻
It’s so nice and wholesome to see you spend time understanding the different hawkers around Singapore, Ghib! Can tell your interest and passion in food and hawker culture ❤ rooting for you Ghib!! Go for your dreams. There will be hard times but I believe you can!
So cool! The variety of food offerings omg FR the family support is incredible So cute that the husband and wife are operating different stalls at the same hawker centre, would love to support them both at the same time someday :)
Key point -- the work with his parents taught him resilience ....apart from army training, kids should also have to work in a Hawker centre for a few months!
The beauty about Sg multi racial & cultural society is not only harmony. We come a long way that food is becoming multi cultural also. We eat each other race’s cuisine, some Muslim stalls sells halal Chinese cuisine like bak chor mee replacing pork with chicken, & we see a good trend of fusion food of different races spicing up our hawker culture. Sg is actually food haven.
Wow amazing, this just shows the world how amazing all of Asia is and that food joins us all together. I would love to try it, me as a UK white person I've given my Thai, Nepali and Chinese dishes to Thai's, Nepalis and Chinese/Hong Kong people and they all love it. They are happy I learn about their foods and I'm happy that they love my food, we all benefit from this amazing food. Oh yeah, I gave some Nepali food to some South Indians where I go for certain Asian ingredients and they loved it to 😊
I noticed u are trying open your own Japanese food store too. Be brave n confident like him. Make sure your food good n delicious in order can survive long Blessing 🙏🍲🍱🍜😅
Wonderful to see SAF regulars turned entrepreneurs! I happen to know of a Air Force pilot turned yong tau foo chef... They now get to experience the "real world". 😅
Respect to them. Hawkers is part of Singapore Culture. Reminds me of article of 8Days, we have to support all Hawkers, regardless the been around for decades or the newly, young hawkers. Otherwise, Singapore gonna lose the culture and Identity.
I have been playing with the J2K Pro recently and I'm liking it. So I think I'd like the J7K with that 6 inch grip and slightly lesser power than the J7K Pro for a paddle to use when I want to play a more control game.
I’m curious he did mentioned he uses halal friendly ingredients and such but for muslims, the chicken and Beef has to be slaughtered the islamic ways in order for it to be halal. Not sure if he got the chicken/meat from a Muslim supplier or not.
Hey Ghib! do a video on Singapore Most confusing shopping mall! The iconic Queensway Shopping Centre! Ask anyone and they will agree! Their laksa is vey popular!
Also know a Navy officer who had the honor of live firing our navy first harpoon missile , after retiring he also went into F&B , opening his own restaurant.
Why u never mention the kebab meat roaster inside right most corner ? He basically also serving burritos and salads. Also store unit is 01-69. How did he came up with the store name ?
An entrepreneur in the making vs being an employeee. Don't be surprised if he expands his business in the near future. With such an expansion, he will earn much more than an army officer. He can also either continue operating past retirement age or just be a shareholder to collect dividends (or profit sharing) from his operations. Great positive spirit... keep it up... wish more of such calibre will venture out to be entreprenuers!
18yrs still a major...if he continued his career in the SAF...i guess he will retire only as a full colonel....better to switch career soon than later....

His biriyani set and the giant wraps are DELICIOUS! The giant wrap is also really GIANT 😀 2 person can share 👍🏻
I know him.. He was my unit S4 about a decade ago in 3GDS.. Went outfield with him several times during my NSF days as a driver haha.
A very humble and hardworking guy, the fact that he used to be an army officer, respect! ❤
I ate his biriyani before. The curry sauce is spicy and shiok. Very recommended.

Yup, most children of hawkers did help at the stall. I started helping at the age of 7
Key point -- the work with his parents taught him resilience ....apart from army training, kids should also have to work in a Hawker centre for a few months!
Mr Wei Yong, thank you for promoting Indian food.
God Bless
The briyani is very good!
Nasi Bryani is a popular and common dish we’ll receive by most.
I salute to Major turns hawker ❤🎉

Today I went to patronise the stall, it’s sold out. Guess another day then, so I went to Han Kee fish soup
It'll be nice if you can show up one day at the stall in SAFVC No.4.
The major will be very impressed.
You better salute him then.
I noticed u are trying open your own Japanese food store too. Be brave n confident like him. Make sure your food good n delicious in order can survive long Blessing 🙏🍲🍱🍜😅

The giant wrap looks challenging for small eaters especially girls.
I am proud he siad he is a Singaporean chinese
It's amazing that he broke free from the grind of uniformed circle. May his business continue to flourish
He was the Node Commander for Selarang Transport Node, popcorn moments those days

Good luck opening on your hawker centre
Hey Ghib! do a video on Singapore Most confusing shopping mall! The iconic Queensway Shopping Centre!

Their laksa is vey popular!
So nice to see a humble and hardworking officer. So many of them are so snobbish and ego-filled.
🎉
There's a new hawker centre at anchorvale village u can check it out
Speaking of Indian cuisine, Annalakshimi restaurant is nearby. You should give it a try.
❤❤❤❤
He make a good choice. Whoever is once a regular will know the challenges in the army.
Also know a Navy officer who had the honor of live firing our navy first harpoon missile , after retiring he also went into F&B , opening his own restaurant.
the hawker owner looks damn familiar, i think he was interviewed during mothership interview during outfield.
SAF Biryani!😅
Early squad!
Why u never mention the kebab meat roaster inside right most corner ? He basically also serving burritos and salads. Also store unit is 01-69. How did he came up with the store name ?
Ojjob, OJISAN. WHICH is your top 5 hawker food center in Singapore 🇸🇬 ?
Cannot choose but Amoy has many nice stalls!!
This guy speaks good Singaporean English/Singlish. Very rare to hear this on UA-cam these days.
He is a major
Where is this place ?
May I know where is this store located?
Support local.
major salary so good why switch?

Why not? It's good that Singaporeans learn to think out of the box! Be fun and creative! Take some risks!
👋👋👋👍👍👍
you should try prata made by Chinese. 😅
I love prata 😋
@@GhibOjisan Xie Jia Chinese Prata. Yuhua Hawker Centre. 254 Jurong East St 24, #01-25.
Plenty of other good eats there.
Very rich guy
18yrs still a major...if he continued his career in the SAF...i guess he will retire only as a full colonel....better to switch career soon than later....
It’s pronounced as Bree - yani , not Brani
The Japanese guy got it right
I must try this Bryani!

MAJ Lau HQ GUARDS log branch dy
I like to join your 23 June event and please give me a chance to join in this event. Thank you.,
Are you sure you can jump out your comfort zone from Japanese food to Singaporean cuisine?
Real question on army progression. 18 years major? I see cpt at mid 20s, how long does one move to Maj and stay as maj
Sorry for being the grammar police but it’s one of Singapore’s most unique “HAWKERS” and not “HAWKER”. Because he’s one of many HAWKERS.
