- Flatpick Guitar arrangement of the traditional fiddle tune "Big Sciota".
Tablature available here (flatpickapprent...) in case you're interested...
The lead guitar (right channel) is a Composite Acoustics "Bluegrass Performer". People are often curious about how these carbon fiber acoustic guitars sound--I think they sound pretty good. Not as good as the best wood guitars, but close enough that it'd be hard to tell blindfolded.
The rhythm guitar (left channel) is my trusty old D-28.
I thought i had heard every version of this tune. This one knocks the socks off of any other on the internet, so glad to have found it and am able to play along and improve my rhythm. Thanks so much Flatpick Apprentice.
Thanks so much! If you feel like trying out the flatpick arrangement, there's a link to the tab in the video description.
Your up-the-neck tone is simply amazing!
Thanks!
Best version I've heard...outstanding!
This is so beautiful
Thanks, Dirk! I appreciate it!
Best version I've heard on UA-cam--really excellent
Thanks so much!
Beautiful exploration of this melody.
That is absolutely beautiful....best version I’ve heard....I can’t stop playing!!
Phil Holmes thanks, Phil. I remember the first time I heard the tune, I was jamming with Rolly Brown (who has a great UA-cam channel) and just fell in love with it. There’s a tab in the description, if you want it.
That is some fantastic picking man!. .thanks so much for sharing all you do!
the more I listen, the more I love it - Well done buddy!
How in the world have i missed u,u are awesome!!!!
Beautiful, and tasty picking. Your note flow so nicely into one another.
@greekflatpicker Thanks, Yiannis. I've been enjoying your picking for a long time.
@captbanjo1 Thanks! That's my D-28 playing rhythm. Strangely, it's not a rhythm track from my blog. I couldn't locate the original wav file, and I didn't want to mix an mp3 and a wav together & re-encode to mp3. I thought the sound quality would probably degrade. So...I recorded the rhythm part again.
Added to my fav's, cheers... and oh BTW, i'm enjoying playin' clawhammer along side... sweet track!
Very nice and tasteful picking too.I really like your smooth and clean style.
Congrats!
Just Magic ...thanks
Beautiful
Thanks!
Good job on this tune!
sweet, great job
@telecat63 Thanks, I appreciate that. Your videos are killer.
@montanaokie Thanks. You're right, this tune seems easier to personalize than, say, Whiskey Before Breakfast. Nice version, yourself.
@twocanoes Thank you. I've been working on that.
Clean and tasty! What are you using as that nice metronomic sound?
Thanx for the tab :)
@flashofthegap1200 Will do. I'm kind of a slow mover, though.
I would have relished more with light on the fret board
